Believe it or not, there are household products that don’t last forever, opposite to what you may have thought. Let’s take a look at 18 household items which have an expiration date:
Pillows, 2 to 3 years
After 2 to 3 years, you should replace your pillow with a new one as the old one tends to lose its shape as the time goes by. Also, it’s prone to tearing due to the constant tossing and turning.
Slippers, 6 months
Slippers are the perfect surrounding for fungal infections. So, make sure you wash them on a regular basis, either in the washing machine or by hand. And, replace them with new ones after 6 months or so.
Sponge, 2 months, shower pouf, 6 months
They breed fungus and mold, so you should soak them in boiling water on a regular basis to destroy growing bacteria.
Towel, 1 to 3 years
Damp towels are the excellent environment for spread of bacteria. Unfortunately, washing towels after they fermented in wet state is not a good solution.
Toothbrush, 3 months
The toothbrush is prone to germs and bacteria. Also, replace your old toothbrush with a new one, if you had a cold or the flu to prevent getting sick again.
Hairbrush, a year
You should clean the hairbrush once per week and replace it with a new one every year.
Perfume, 1 to 3 years
When closed, perfumes with essential oils can last up to 3 years, whereas the opened ones last for 2 years. On the other hand, eau de toilette can last for 4 years when closed and 2 years when opened.
