12 years ago. You should have had retainers after 3 years.

I’m not going to wear a retainer every night that sounds like hell

Just get the invisalign, it's much more comfortable. the doctor will try to lie and say you need it every night, but I just wear it one night a week and it's fine. There is a tiny bit of soreness in the morning and then I'm good.

Lazy frick, you literally only have to wear it at night?? I wear one and it's not a big deal

what is this I didn't have wire on the inside of my teeth when I had braces, but my gf has that wire inside her bottom row.

never. I have these top and bottom and if you get rid of it the teeth move back where they were.

They're called permanent braces for a reason anon. Don't tell me you didn't listen to the adults when you were younger.
But srsly I have them too, on top and bottom. The fricking bottom one came off of a few teeth in the center and it bent backwards a bit while eating one day. Now I need to go in and get it re-glued to my bottom teeth. Fricking AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Honestly I just don't ever get below them. I get above them, and angle the string downward a bit, but never truly underneath. I wonder how fricked I'll be in due time.

i wore my retainer for a couple years after braces and stopped wearing them for years and my teeth still look straight enough. should I go back and get new ones?

If everything looks and, more importantly, feels fine, then don't worry about it. No need to suffer if you don't need to.

I ate a clif bar and it broke. Dentist removed the cement and molded me a nighttime plastic retainer. Ask your dentist to remove that shit, OP, it's fricking insane that orthos think this is a reasonable solution for the rest of your life.

that wire is leaching metal into your body

I had one of these after I had braces as a 13yo. It didn't stop my bottom teeth from moving around anyway and going crooked. Went and got it taken out at 23 because it was doing frick all and I suspected might have even made my teeth worse. Stupid c**t should have just given me a plastic night retainer

Usually you get both a fixed metal wire retainer and removable plastic retainers. You then should wear the plastic retainers three nights per week.

Yeah, I never got one of those though. Just the wire. We're also talking almost 20 years ago now, so it might well be different these days

I've had mine for 17 years now. The orthodontist told me it's best to just keep it forever if I want my teeth to stay perfectly straight.

What did you do with the epoxy? I've asked a couple dentists and they all seem hesitant to do it.

mine has broke like 4-5 times in the 15 years I got my braces off. I would always get the mixed cause it would break at one of the ends and the sharp wire would frick up my tongue.

Probably 5-6 months ago now I was eating a pretzel cracker and I bit it kinda weird and it went in sideways right into the wire and broke the adhesive kind in one of the middle teeth so its not attached. Ive been able to lvie with it so I havnt been to the dentist to get it fixed cause I dont want to spend money on it but im paranoid my teeth are moving around. I feel like I can feel that they are not as tight anymore.

I really should jst go get it fixed and get a cleaning at the same time but im paranoid about finding cavities. I brush and floss everyday at least once a day but yeah its like when youve put something off for so long and it makes it harder. Id be spending like a grand out of pocket too.

I have the same OP and recently went back to the dentist, who told me they dont remove them anymore because teeth shift back. The alternative is wearing retainers when you go to bed, EVERY NIGHT FOREVER

  17. 4 weeks ago

Never. That's the point of braces. You/your parents were the morons who paid thousands of dollars and years of pain for a temporary cosmetic procedure.

9 or 10th year wearing a metal retainer like this (no clue what that stuff in the middle is) before bed, it's just second nature after a couple of weeks. Also had underbite(lower jaw sticks out greater than upper) which dentist fixed at nearly the same time

lol wtf is this a real thing? I knew dentistry was a scam but this is the most j*wish thing I've read about this morning. They got these goyim walking around with wires permanently affixed in their mouths just lmao.

I just got mine removed a few months ago after ~20. Most dentists I'd asked before wouldn't do it because "it's not supposed to come out your teeth will shift etc.", but my current dentist did it and gave me an invisalign retainer to wear at night. Absolute incredible feeling to get that piece of shit out of my mouth

      Stay ugly then

I wear a retainer at night and have a permanent retainer. Is this not normal?

That is exactly what is recommended nowadays.
