what foods/habits should i pick up to aid in period restoration during anorexia recovery? right now assuming my bmr is 1080 i eat around 1200-1350 cals a day to maintain but i feel like there must be more i could be doing to speed up the process than just eating more calories, do any anons know any tips or advice?

      you only need 20 lbs to be in a healthy bmi range for your age. Its more calories, you llikely are going to have to throw in some whole milk into your diet or some other high caloric liquid

      trust me anon i’m a hungry girl i wouldn’t need milk to succeed in a high calorie diet, i just really really want to avoid gaining weight

      not saying i recommend this (do whats right for you obv) but i just ate foods that were easy for me as i was recovering from a chronic illness that made me throw up a lot so i would not eat and became very afraid of food. i just ate lots of convenient easy foods like grilled cheese, sandwiches, fast food, premade meals from the store. im sure theres healthier ways to do it as i did put on some undesirable pounds during covid but i think getting to a higher weight as fast as possible is easiest, and then you can worry about losing whatever excess fat you want to when you have more energy for cooking healthy meals and working out.

      congrats on ur recovery femanon c: this does make sense but wouldn’t having to lose the excess weight after just throw my body back into panic/starvation mode and have me lose my period again?

          non-disordered people can not want to gain weight too right? i’m only in the beginning, i know it isn’t ideal but it’s better than actually starving myself

          im talking like 10-15 pounds overweight. its enough to make us look flabby at 5’4 but losing that much shouldnt make you lose your period again, and you can always recomp, which is what i plan to do after im done with construction since i dont have time to go to the gym at the moment. i havent heard anyone whose recomping say theyve felt that way but it could be a concern, switching to more whole foods and high protein rather than a carb and fat heavy diet should help with losing the fat even without working out though.
          if you want to eat healthy from the outset more power to you! it just wasnt really feasible for me as i didnt have any energy to cook for myself, and i know a lot of people in recovery struggle with low energy and a small appetite from eating so little for so long so calorie dense foods really helped me even though theyre unhealthy. if it’s doable for you eating mainly whole foods is definitely the better way but may be a bit slower.

        serious advice is you are still underweight and need to bulk up at least a little bit. clean bulk if you are super concerned about body fat, even though you are probably low in bf% right now if not menstruating and going up wouldn't hurt you, and lift+cardio. how new are you fitness? thank you for respecting sarah, she is a beautiful ogre princess

    You gotta up the calories more. Maintaining 94lb at 5'4" isn't good. You should come up at least another 25lb. There's no way to recover from anorexia without coming up to a healthy weight
