2pl8 Bench Consensus

Over the last month or so I've seen threads deviating into arguing about what is meant by 2pl8 bench. Some people claim the one rep max counts, others 3x5, others 5x5, and some 3x10. Can we please finally come to a consensus on who can actually claim "I can bench 2pl8"?

I'm only pushing 97.5kg for 3x6. In my mind I couldn't claim being able to bench 2pl8 until I could do it for 3x10 so yeah, I'm way off.

To anyone outside of IST (AKA 99.9% of the gym, and 100% of people in real life) bench pressing 2 plates mean you can do it for at least 1 rep.

At least one, but only one?

I finally hit 3pl8 the other day (my new ORM,) and I am shocked that people are having this discussion. Is two plates really that significant? Either way, I think that being able to push one rep out is enough to say that you “can bench” a certain weight… but it clearly isn’t the same thing as being able to bench out multiple reps for sets. That requires a much higher level of skill, regardless of the amount of weight being pushed.

I don't think that lifting anything once is particularly impressive to be honest. If the bar for an impressive bench stat is 2pl8 for one rep that's pretty pathetic.

Is this why some cunts claim 2pl8 bench after a month of SS?

        >In my mind
        >I don't think
Your opinions don't matter, incel. 1 rep = you can bench it, simple as. Why? Because fuck you, that's why.

this, but butt has to stay on the bench. Feel free to bounce it off your chest though, nobody gives a shit about that IRL.
It's so blatant you're a turbo gymcel who has never made friends with anyone at the gym in your life.

      2pl8 = 2x45lb plates either side.
Inclusive of the bar you're looking at 225lb or approx 102kg.

    It's 1 rep
But the plates with holes in the middle don't count

Can you, on any given day, bench an olympic (45lbs) barbell with 4x45lbs plates (2 on each side) for one rep? If yes, then you can claim a 2pl8 bench.

2pl8 bench = 1 rep, otherwise we wouldn't have the phrase 'for reps'.

"I bench 2pl8" = I can bench this weight for at least 5 reps
"What can you bench?" "2pl8" = My max is 2pl8 for 1

      These are the clear answers.
