BOOT is a MANLIER word than SHOE. STARTING STRENGTH IS FOR MANLY MEN (prediabetic)which is WHY they have tutorials on HOW to DRINK WHISKY (manly) AND HOW to make a PROTEIN SHAKES with SUGAR FREE SODA. HARD EDGES and NO PADDING IS ALSO MANLY
wearing straps and a belt for a 2 plate deadlift is downright embarrassing.
i was able to lift more than that on my very first deadlift, this dude is wearing STRAPS and a BELT for what a normal male adult considers a warmup set jesus christ.
I don't see what padding does for you when you bench. Wood won't get damaged by sweat like the shitty plastic does. Seems alright. Would not use leather lifting shoes though, that makes no sense.
they're selling lifts. when did looxmaxxing go so mainstream. seems like every random normie these days knows to lie about their height and to do shit like this.
>These will literally last a lifetime if you take care of them properly.
The frick does that mean? My shoes are always busted in less than a year. Can you quantify what "taking care of them properly" means?
If you look at the leather cross section near the heel you can can see it is a full grain hide. It probably will last a life time, I own a couple pairs of full grain boots, the only issue is that these weight lifting shoes will take months to break in.
Store them with shoe trees, brush them, oil them and polish them. Good leather shoes and boots can and have lasted decades. Almost all modern sneakers are dogshit
Wooden ones are better at keeping the shape and condition of the leather because they absorb moisture better. Plastic ones with a spring work fine and are much cheaper. Seriously man, don't venture into shoe autism
>charge more saying that with proper maintenance you can use them forever >customers don't properly maintain them because it requires effort and then buy new shoes anyway
The Adidas Adipower 3 and Nike Romaleos 4 also have a raised front and are criticized for it, but these shoes are even worse.
I expected Rip to come up with a really simple shoe. Basically pic related but in leather and no velcro straps.
>toe drop on a dedicated weightlifting shoe
why morons do this?
I have cheap underarmour sport sneakers and a hovr apex, the latter is about four times the price of the former. The latter has toedrop and makes free bar squatting very difficult and even dangerous I'd say, the slightest mistake and you will fall forward because it forces your feet to stand in an unnatural position
these people don't have a clue, it's almost like they design weightlifting shoes without even practicing or asking people who do about it beforehand
>lol @ your ignorance
any standing compound at lower reps causes you to shake if you're going hard enough. squats, dls, ohp, whatever. I'm not speaking out of my ass, I've nearly ended up in a wheelchair because I tried to go hard wearing those UA shoes with toedrop and never had an issue with the basic, no toedrop ones.
Have YOU ever tried to lift with toedrop shoes? You don't have to be a powershitter, just squat close to your 3-5 rep max and tell me how that goes
how much of a dysgenic subhuman do you have to be to be this fricking clueless? how does this guy achieve even basic human functioning with a completely defective brain?
I'll never forget the first time I wore adidas adipowers in a gym I fell over squatting 60kg and had to be rescued by a tiny Indian guy. I literally got changed and left and never went back to that gym due to the shame.
>raised heel
*yawn*
no thanks
that's for weak b***hes with mobility disabilities
true chads whose doesn't have to skip and cheat on mobility training goes flat soles
>Depending on your genetics you may never be able to squat flat footed no matter how "mobile" you get.
wtf are you talking about? if you can't sit in a squat you're just fricking weak and/or stiff. not even talking about ass to grass squats (which you should also be able to do)
Watch the video, get a pen and paper and do some simple first year statics. There is no physical way to change your anatomy such that you will be able to squat the same way as someone else.
Watch part 2 to show a somewhat extreme example of what he means.
this video is complete horse shit. no one is built with those wacky exaggerated proportions I GUARANTEE there are a shit load of people who saw this video and copped out of fixing their mobility issues because "muh genetics" and are doing quarter squats with 315 saying they hit 1/2/3/4 for reps. LMAO
Check video 2 where he shows a real world example of an actual human with this issue.
Also it doesn't have to be so exaggerated. A simple increase in femur length relative to your torso can change your moment arm dramatically. You can only push your knees so far past your toes before things stop working.
When I squat barefoot I have my knees quite past my toes, with my knees pointing out. A simple pair of weightlifting shoes takes off hundreds of pounds of stress on the knees.
P.S. a lot of the ~~*science*~~ of mobility is about as well researched as the science of hand washing and vaccines.
even the genetically deformed homosexual with legs up to his ears in that video still was able to break parallel and could clearly go lower. he is a complete genetic outlier. 99% of people will not have this fricking issue but are just chronically snapped up from never having moved their bodies for a majority of their life and "muh leverages" is massive cope. squatting is literally how the body is evolved to take a shit - do you think these long femured homosexuals were just shitting themselves standing before toilets???
concession accepted in conclusion if you cannot squat ATG (which will look different for different people but will ALWAYS be below parallel) you are coping massively

I think they shat without 300lbs on their back.
>muh geneticzzz is why I can't squat properly >I swear it's not because I'm a moronic lazy piece of shit
Lol, sounds exactly like fatties explaining why they're fat.
Fatties are fat because they're moronic and addicts
Loading up 300 pounds on your back can have a dramatic impact on your body mechanics. Please by all means give me a real rebuttal to the video.
I do squat "normally" a2g fyi (no cap)
>mobilitylets are mobilitylets because they're moronic and lazy
Your technique is just shit and your fragile dyel ego can't handle it, that's your answer. I bet your bench looks like hot dogshit too lmao.
How can mobility change the distance between the knee and the hip? How do you overcome folding when the knees are beyond the toes?
Did you watch the video?

>How can mobility change the distance between the knee and the hip?
Don't care, git gud.
>How do you overcome folding when the knees are beyond the toes?
By not being a b***h.
they look pretty cool, actually.
I had a pair of Danner boots long ago, same toe style but much cleatier sole.
These probably need more of a raised heel but whatever.
I just hope Rip would have them made in the USA.
most moronic shit i've ever seen. 1.5" thick sole but only an actual 0.5" raised heel. curled up toe that will put you off balance. probably impossible to do a jerk in with how stiff the forefoot will be. what sort of moron would buy this?
I still wear my old pair of mountain bike shoes from the early 2010's. They are stiff and have a flat bottom which is all I care about.
I wear other shoes for other things.
They posted these in the starting strength subreddit and every single comment was negative. I'm curious to who the market is for these if even reddit hates them
Is there even a such thing as weightlifting shoes/boots? As in, is it even possible to make a metal-toed piece of footwear that can withstand having several hundred pounds dropped on it without crumpling?
>Boots
homie those are shoes!
>Made by Justin boots
Anyone with experience with Western boots will tell you they are absolutely bottom of the barrel in terms of quality and craftsmanship.
Based ariat Chad
Ariats are the best workboots, but I have a few pairs of Lucchese and even one Paul Bond custom for personal wear.

>getting fat for a 3pl8 dl
lmao even
Your gf sounds pretty cool. Is she single?
Poor bastard
LMFAO
He's an SS coach lol
of course he is. 315 is probably a record deadlift on r/StartingStrength
Ahahahaaa
>SS + GOMAD be like
imagine becoming a bloatlord just to diddly 3 plates lmfao
wearing straps and a belt for a 2 plate deadlift is downright embarrassing.

The pleather padding grips you and keeps you stable. This is just you benching on a park bench. You would absolutely hate that bench.
cringe as frick. just get a pair of mexico 66s
they're selling lifts. when did looxmaxxing go so mainstream. seems like every random normie these days knows to lie about their height and to do shit like this.
Looks like they sewed a strap onto doc martins
its exactly that. same company apparently
what are thoooooose

Does the type of shoe tree matter?

Too late, I'm already IST
that's the point, i want you to keep coming back and spending money.
>charge more saying that with proper maintenance you can use them forever
>customers don't properly maintain them because it requires effort and then buy new shoes anyway
Not wear them outside.
>Not wear them at all
FTFY
>why yes, I do have the art of manliness set as my homepage
>Makes you tip over on the squat
Nothing personal, kid.
That's just your own lack of mobility
The shoe forces your toes to curl up and with the raised heel makes it a seesaw.
>The shoe forces your toes to curl up
you own a pair?
you blind?
Was thinking this only the most moronic of redditors would buy this shit. Nike and adidas wl shoes are infinitely better than this scam
The Adidas Adipower 3 and Nike Romaleos 4 also have a raised front and are criticized for it, but these shoes are even worse.
I expected Rip to come up with a really simple shoe. Basically pic related but in leather and no velcro straps.
Wtf why do they have laces and straps
What are you supposed to wear these with? Shorts? Jogging pants?
This is just dumb ripplebreasts
>Wtf why do they have laces and straps
standard on pretty much every lifting shoe. it's actually great makes everything very snug
idiot subhuman. don't ever fricking post again
>toe drop on a dedicated weightlifting shoe
why morons do this?

Hey moron please point to all the WL shoes with toe drop
I have owned 4 pairs over the last decade and none of them look like that
how much of a dysgenic subhuman do you have to be to be this fricking clueless? how does this guy achieve even basic human functioning with a completely defective brain?
is that a fricking velcro strap with laces?
Looks like a cheap pair of dress shoes that a cook at Olive Garden would wear
Looks like something an alt girl would wear lmao
Yes pretty sure my gf already owns a pair
I'll never forget the first time I wore adidas adipowers in a gym I fell over squatting 60kg and had to be rescued by a tiny Indian guy. I literally got changed and left and never went back to that gym due to the shame.
if i ever see somebody wearing these im goin to conquer my social anxiety by making fun of them in public.
are these supposed to be like weightlifting shoes? whats with the weird taper and banana shape lift at the front? why are they so thick all around?
>raised heel
*yawn*
no thanks

ok dunning kruger, go tell your theories to every olympic weightlifter ever. you're a moronic child and probably non-white.
lol found the disabled mobilitylet
pathetic non-response from a moron

You can choose wisdom
Not lifting barefoot
just get $4 slip-ons with soles so thin they cant get compressed
I WILL use the SS shoes at my wedding
ss is a cult
Lived in Wichita Falls for years. Was stationed at Sheppard AFB. Can confirm the city is inundated with morons
they look pretty cool, actually.

E thots and thot goths.
They look cool but they look like dress shoes. Gotta be autistic to show up with these in any gym that isn't an SS gym.
You mog everyone in these goth clogs.
any of you guys read his erotic fan fiction? disturbing stuff. imagine being literally "in his shoes". creepy.
Cop the look... Givenchy calf leather dress shoe fall/winter 2013 $1,200
Why would I ever want to wear a bunch of stiff ass boots to the gym?
what will it take for the sticky to be changed? every single person with half a fricking brain cell knows starting strength is beyond autistic
I can't stand shoes with soles wider than the shoe and I can't stand lifting shoes but otherwise these are pretty cool.
I wear wide toe box shoes with tiny flat soles. Once I get a home gym I’ll lift barefoot. Man is meant to stand on his own
So that's Page's secret to success?
I lift barefoot and you should too
