:(

I want to get into the gym but i'm so insecure about how skinny i am (120 pounds at 6 foot) and how young I look. I've got the stereotypical geek look. I'd also be mooching off my dad's membership. I can't barely even bench 70 pounds.

All i've got now is a bench and a couple dumbbells. I think the biggest problem for me is consistency. It's like i never really see improvement so its not motivating.

I'm constantly berated by my family (except my mother) for being a skinny twig boy. they laugh and make jokes about it and it fricks me up.

You don't see improvement BECAUSE you're not motivated. Try and stick to it for like 2 months, training HARD and eating a least ~2600 kcal in a day. Track everything you eat, make sure you hit this number and eat as much protein as you can. I promise you you will see results, and that will motivate you to get more.

Stop caring what other people think, your npt important enough for anyone to think about u let alone badly about you

Anyone who would bother to think about you badly, them selves are losers other eise why would they waste the mental effort.

Even then they will think about you until the next distraction then forget u exist

And their thoughts cant hurt you, its jist a random nobodies thoughts

The problem is you think mean things about your self, the problem is not what other people think

What's so bad about being skinny? At least you know you can live comfortably with low body fat. From here you just gain muscle and enjoy your loife.

let me preface this with the fact that i don't know shit about frick. but i do know i escaped skinnyfat dyel mode with this
do 30 push ups a dsy for a month, doesn't matter how many in a row or how much time in between. if you can do it for 30 days, you're teaching yourself to stick with exercise and you start wanting to do more.

3x12 dumbell bench press willget you a bigger chest and triceps
3x12 lateral raises gives you bigger shoulders
3x12 curls will give you bigger biceps.

just do this every other day and focus on eating enough protein. beginner gains should kick in pretty nicely after a month.

make an excel spreadsheet, track your shit you lazy frick.
even a 1 rep increase week over week in a difficult compound will be good at your level
you won't see the best progress until you track everything e.g. lifts and calories and macros, use the app chronometer
I'm 6'0 185, my minimum calories to maintain is 2800 I need like 3200+ to gain weight (I'm not trying to)

get the greyskull app, and do the Phraks variation. it's so simple and only takes like 30 minutes. start with just the bar and no added weight.

you have identified your problems. you have identified the solution. what more needs to be done? start eating and lifting and you won't be skinny, you won't be a geek, you won't be berated by your family and you won't be insecure. just start.

You should definitely just be so scared of everything tjay you stay a skeleton and never improve. Keep playing video games, it’s totally gonna be worth it in a year when you’re still skinny, being berated, and playing on your computer every second of your free time

I'm in the same position, skinny-fat chubby guy but everyone thinks I'm fine and shouldn't lose weight because I have twig arms
I went from 210lbs to 165 lbs at 6'4 and got alot more female attention and stuff, now I'm 235 lb and starting my journey again, and of course getting the same old stupid comments.
Americans are so unhealthy that they view my appearance as healthy, well that may be true but I Want to be FIT!!! and you too Anon, so make everyone in this thread proud. Everyones fitness journey is unique, remember that

Stop thinking so much. You're causing yourself anxiety which will lead to stress and then hair loss. Just get your twiggy ass in the gym and do work. Personally I'm an ugly 5'8 blob with social anxiety and socially awkward, and avoid public places unless I have to. But I've never had a problem going to the gym because I'm not there to socialize or play the highschool social hierarchy. I don't give a frick that everyone looks like a movie star compared to me. I'm there to do what needs to be done and then gtfo.
