The brutalest redpill about intelligence is it's like 99% genetic. You can change your physical appearance but the only thing that will marginally improve your IQ is getting better at taking tests (time management, process of elimination). This is part of the reason we have a competency crisis. You can train low IQs all you want but when shit goes down they cannot improvise and adapt like a high IQ individual.

      Anonymous

IQ isn't nearly as important as most think it is, as long as you're average or slightly above average in IQ. Willingness and discipline to learn and apply what you've learned is much more important. High IQ makes you a "quick learner" and lower IQ a "slow learner", but none of that matters as long as you're learning and applying skills consistently.
The only negative impact IQ will have on your life is if you're extremely low IQ (like <90), which makes you legitimately moronic.
High IQ correlates with success, but not in every case.
At one point, the individual with the highest known IQ was some random guy who was single, drank a lot, and worked a dead-end low-skill job. He was seemingly below average in success and nothing seemed remarkable about him. There was a documentary about it, but I've forgotten the name.

To add to this, I knew a guy who was in Mensa, but worked at Burger King. He had a huge ego about his IQ, but it didn't manifest itself in his life other than a paper certificate from Mensa, and he had the most canned opinion, reddit-tier takes on everything.

Midwits always become redditors, they have weaker understanding of the world than people with 80iq

100%. I think it has to do more with upbringing, and if your parents instilled the proper work ethic and mindset into you. For example, I had pretty shitty parents who basically didn't teach me shit and only talked shit about me and it caused me to be insecure and make poor decisions. I think I have a midwit IQ like 120 at the most because I do notice I tend to learn much quicker than most people but at the same time there's still people who learn even quicker than me. But IQ doesn't matter as much as the environment you were born and raised in.

I have an unironic 133 IQ and my life is complete shit because I’m an unmotivated autist waiting for life to happen instead of making it happen. Any intellectual contributions I’ve had in this world are relegated to IST archives. I would gladly be a 100 IQ npc who can experience legitimate joy instead of being cursed in the prison of my own mind

Find something you're interested in that's useful and productive, and learn about it with the same discipline that you would have going to the gym. With your high IQ, you'd be surprised at how quick you can master it. Learning any useful skill will make some kind of improvement on your life, even if its just simply the feeling of accomplishment.

But they have to want to apply themselves, and that want is greater than having a higher IQ. Because if a person with a high IQ doesn't want to apply themselves, they will just waste away and there are many examples of that.

          >that applies themselves at the same level as a midwit will run circles around them.
And that's my point. IQ allows you to learn much quicker. But what matters is applying yourself.
Someone with an average IQ who applies themselves will run circles around someone with a high IQ that spends all day playing vidya and hasn't read a book since high school.
Many high IQ people are like this, because the public school system is too slow paced for very high IQ people to be engaged, so they don't develop a "love of learning" in that environment typically (not endorsing the moronic "lazy C- student who thinks he's Einstein" meme though.) They must develop it elsewhere.

            true

True. But there are some things high IQ people can do that normal IQ people will never be able to do. I am a code monkey and there are guys that have been coding at a high level for decades and they cannot grasp some things higher intelligence people can do. People with very high IQ just have a better ability to visualize problems in their head.

Yeah, I was only motivated when there was a competitive aspect to it. I enjoyed displaying my physical dominance when playing dodgeball in elementary school (until the homosexual gynocentric society banned it). I enjoyed working hard when the teacher would display the top scores on tests. But that is rarely done now, and there is a lot of bullshit tedium that goes into getting a good grade in some classes (art project type shit in English class, for instance)

Back when I was teen I fell for the nootropics dual nback meme and thought i'd be happier and more successful in life and with women if i were smarter and jestermaxxed. Now I realize, Looks, height, frame, and muscles are what leads to happiness, fun, and respect i should've focused in my formative years. I could've ate eggs and protein and probably reached 6 feet instead of stopping at 5"11 and i should've focused on freeweights and machines to maximize testosterone/hgh instead of exclusively doing calisthenics and hitting my heavy bag to be some skinny naruto ninja. A buffer and taller me would've got a GF with gusto

Most people with high but not genius level IQs do not have much of an advantage over people with average or slightly above average IQs, and they also tend to think they are much smarter than they are. The big differences in success are usually observed when comparing people with low and average IQs.
