useless exercise, just a party trick

Cool, how many can you do?

        Anonymous

        never tried

I’m sure the clean & jerk is also just a party trick considering it’s the inverse of the same mechanics.

not comparable at all, a muscle up is just a dip at the end of an extended pullup that heavily relies on momentum, a C&J requires a great deal of power and technique while using every muscle the body has to offer

        https://i.imgur.com/TlSke1x.jpg

        >It's just a lame party trick. No I never tried to do one. I surely didn't almost hit my head on the bar failing to get rotational momentum. Its just a dumb party trick only dyels can do. Once you pass a certain threshold of strength you're effectively locked from doing muscle ups, so by not being able to do one I'm actually better than you. Ha!

putting words in my mouth anon, for what its worth i quite like calisthenics but beyond the simpler lifts its not worth doing outside of being a calisthenics athlete, you can get more mileage out of your sets with more conventional lifts

Black person we’re all talking about strict muscle ups here, which requires a fully closed chain and contraction of the entire body to perform correctly.

Essentially yes. C&J is a show off movement, not something you do as an efficient way to get stronger in and of itself.

They hated this man for telling the truth.

It's just swinging on the bar with momentum and doing a dip. If you can do a few dips of your bodyweight and a few pullups you can do this.

Master explosive chest to bar and hollow body pull-ups then when you do a muscle up you’d want to swing to build momentum

      Anonymous

      shit form

      Anonymous

Simple, you’re not doing full ROM on either exercise. Also the chin up isn’t training towards a muscle up, only strict pull ups (palms facing away) will.

A muscle up is just a really high pull up into the bottom of a really deep dip. If you can’t seamlessly make that transition it’s because your dips aren’t deep enough and you’re not pulling below your chest.

        You’re a moron. What

I can do chinups with 90 pounds added and dips with 155 pounds added but cant do a muscle up

i'll simply never understand its esoteric secrets

needs to do is learn how to grip the bar when going for a muscle up, which is slightly diffferent than the one you use when doing pull-ups.

          Anonymous

Yeah I know what a false grip is mate. Not going to help if he doesn’t have the strength to clear the bar with his chest or dip from the deepest part, which are the two hardest parts of each movement. That’s why he adds weight to the easiest parts of the exercise but can’t muscle up.

are calisthenics a meme compared to lifting?

      Anonymous

No. Calisthenics is the basis of all types of exercise everywhere in the planet pretty much, and has been forever

      >physical education in school
      >armies since the dawn of time
      >martial arts
      >gymnastics
      >other sports (eg soccer, running etc)

Lifting is nice but complementary. Calisthenics is the basis

This is true. any man that brags about his bench or aesthetics is a joke if he can't run a mile or climb a tree. Basic bodyweight efficiency is a must to living a long and healthy life.

how many consecutive ring pull ups and ring dips before attempting a ring muscle up?

      Anonymous

Its easier to do a ring muscle than a bar muscle up, so sets of 8 are good enough assuming you pull high and dip really low.

Just make sure you’re using a false grip for the ring pull ups otherwise you literally can’t do the ring muscle up.

        Anonymous

        >Its easier to do a ring muscle than a bar muscle up
        Huh, interesting

          Anonymous

Yeah, you need more range of motion on the pull with the bar because you have to be able to clear your entire chest with it otherwise the bar will get in the way.

With rings, there’s a space between them for your chest so you only need to pull enough to clear that space. If you’re stable on the rings, dip portion will feel easier than the bar too because straight bar dips are more tricep dominant than ring dips.

Just did my first one, but can't do it without kicking. Hell I can even do five in a row on a metal bar with horrendous kicking. I'll keep at it I guess...

  17. 3 weeks ago

No idea why incels find this one so hard, it's easier than a strict pull up. Just use momentum.

      Anonymous

      >Just use momentum.
This is the crossfit way. A real muscle up is without momentum, slow and controlled.
I can guarantee you 99% of IST can't do it, especially the ones who say they can

        Anonymous

Nobody cares if you use momentum, kip, swing, or even chicken wing. Trust me, all anyone cares about is if you can get your torso over the bar. There hasn't been a soul who has told me
        >oh you're kipping
        >do a strict muscle up
Except for the form gays on IST

Instead after I do a set of muscle ups they say
        >yo bro good shit

      To add to

I believe you do one pull up and one dip when doing a muscle up
      Hope that it helped

it’s not so much how many of those you can do, but the ROM. If you can do 1 bar to chest pull up, and lower your chest to the bar on your dip, you’re effectively doing 2 half muscle ups.

Do these on a bar on a wall that has only a few inches of clearance from the wall.
Now it's a real exercise that will save you the next time you find yourself hanging from a cliff, or trying to get over a wall when running from something.
