A person whom I greatly respect has recommended me to begin doing this exercise known as "Tabata". It's for people, like myself, who don't go outside and work out much. I spend most of my days indoors, and this compounds the issues associated with a lack of ISTness.
The "Tabata" technique is a way of exercising where you work very hard for short bursts of time, with short breaks in between. You do this 8 times, for a total of 4 minutes. This type of exercise is meant to make your heart and body work harder and can help you lose weight.
Any suggestions on approaching this "Tabata" technique? I really want to be healthy...

188cm isn't tall. What are you on? The average in my home town is probably 195cm because I am that height barefoot and I am only ever so slightly above the average.

On Looksmax.org, people really like to hammer home how height is the No.1 thing needed in life, while it hasn't helped me at all.

I'm from the Republic of Georgia, I reliably MOG approx. 90% of the people I meet on a daily basis.
Anyway, let's stick to the topic at hand, please.

This is complete bullshit and it will not help you lose weight and it will not give you any gains other then you becoming better at doing that moronic side plank.

There are no short cuts to getting in shape. There are no short cuts to getting your daily and weekly recommended exercise covered and this tabata shit will not cover any of that.

This is a good conditioning workout that will also work your muscles a bit. It's pretty much the bare minimum you can do to improve your fitness. Taken to the extreme, it can cause heart issues, but you don't need to worry about it if you're just starting out, it's something that can happen maybe 3-5 years down the road if you continue and progress with it.

Yes, I've been told that I should stick to the golden balance between not working out and killing myself with overworking myself.

      I am still a teenager.

It's better than nothing but you shouldn't expect any good results. The point this kind of short exercise is to make exercise your habit. After that, you should move on to "real" exercises.

I've been told that exercising the heart in short bursts like with the "Tabata" is ideal for me.

Tabata is fine but you probably wont be able to do it as a newbie. 20s of all out effort means pushing yourself to the max and most people subconsciously pussy out before getting there.
If you want to be healthy do pushups and pullups 3 days a week, go for a few runs each week, do burpees when you feel up to it, and don't eat garbage

I don't want gains or such, I only want to receive the minimum training required to stay healthy.

Acording to what i heard from andy galpin and peter attia, tabata and high intensity interval in general would be ideal to achieve a type of conditioning that comes from nearing your heart rate to its max capacity and should be done probably 2 or 3 times a week, after having a base built by steady state cardio.
It will also build some muscle if the exercise selection is appropriate, I like to do it with ultraexplosive jump squats (tabata) and very steep hill sprints (~30 seconds on, 1min off). But in my opinion its hypertrophy capacity is very limited compared to regular sets and reps bodybuilding training, even if you use "normal" gym exercises.
If you just want to improve in a general fitness perspective and dont care about internet gays calling you a dyel, its very useful but it doesnt replace steady state zone 2 cardio (what people usually understand for cardio, for example running for 30+minutes at moderate pace)

Any guides you can recommend? Videos and all?

Huberman lab podcast on yt, the ones with the guests i mentioned
Those are long but worth watching, specially the galpin ones and the videos are also segmented by the content so you can just watch the appropriate parts

          >I only want to receive the minimum training required to stay healthy
Listen to the mentioned Peter Attia episode with Andy Galpin, or same guy on Huberman lab. Take notes of the standards he sets for overall health and of how you might reach them. Do the tests twice a year and if some day you complete them all, you're in a good place.

          I see.
