Planks are more of a core building exercises if you want big blocky abs you need to do abdominal exercises like leg raises, crunches, ab roller.
You should still do planks. But weighted planks won't necessarily give you well defined abs

Same here but you can do Calisthenics in the gym too. Use your pull up bar to do hanging leg raises, or hanging knee raises until you get strong enough to do full leg raises

Yeah it's sad to see people who have made lifting their entire personality. Lifting is just a hobby. A lot of people who lift aren't even making money off it, so really it's just a time/money sink.

I didn't say it's easy. I said it's achievable to be and maintain ottermode. It takes a 2 to 3 years of good working out to achieve but once you get there you can stay there indefinitely without your whole life revolving around being in the gym

What about doing light weight and very high reps (100-200+) to cut down? It should burn more calories, right? Goggins advocates it, too, especially to fix loose skin.

Best is lift the most you possibly can for 3 sets of 10 reps. If you're barely doing 5, too much weight. If you can do 10-20 easily, not enough weight

By losing muscle you might lose a little bit but like 5 lbs per dumbell or something.

You don't need to cut anymore. What you need is more musculature. Clean bulk and focus on hypertrophy. You'll get a lot more ab definition when the muscles are larger.

unironically calisthenics is the best way to get lean/ottermode with a bit more.
lifting weights can also work, but there's literally no point in paying for a rack and barbell (or gym subscription) just to bench - ottermode forgoes the legs, so weightlifting, in which most compounds are for lower body, is a bit overkill.
gymnasts have this look. I'd buy rings and exercise on them at home daily, that will get you there quicker than a barbell and rack.
And calisthenics is self regulating in terms of fat and muscle. You can't be too heavy or your performance decreases, so building lean tissue goes quick.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. You need barbells for traps and dumbbells for proper isolation work. Dips are a great movement but half the time the pec develops with almost zero upper pec and it looks strange. There’s no reason to limit yourself.

I like the maximalist mindset, I have it too - use every tool at your disposal to get as much muscle as possible. But that's not the OP's goals, he just wants a nice, normie friendly body that they consider athletic or aesthetic.
I'm saying, why use maximalist methods if you want minimalist results? Why sign up to a gym, learn how to squat if you'd be satisfied with toned, 20" legs? Why pay hundreds of dollars a year when a one time purchase (olympic rings) can cover 80 to 90% of your development, in the comfort of your home, whenever you want?
To me that makes the most sense. Calisthenics athletes get jacked quickly and build good physiques off their sport. Why not take a page out of their book if the minimalist approach is sufficient?

Instead of bulk/cut cycles, just cleanbulk. You'll get to the same FFMI and size over time. Except you don't have to go on these retarded cycles with a clean bulk. You can diet so that your weight gain is mostly muscle. I would end it after this most recent cut and just clean bulk all the way if I were you.
