What was your experience taking it? Have side effects ever persisted after the treatment period was over?

My experience was good, both times I took it. Second time I went on a low and slow dose, only 40mg a day for about a whole year to avoid any side effects. No persisting side effects and no side effects in general.

Basically same as this dude but you never know. Make sure you try all the other options first.

I forget my dose but it was sort of middle ground. Took it twice a day for 6 months. Didn’t cure my acne but drastically improved the cystic disaster that came to my face when I started smoking weed. Stopped that btw. Anyways, the accutane fricked up my mind, and I was better once I was off it for a few months. It’s made my skin really itchy even though it wasn’t very dry or flaky, and 20 months later it’s not quite the same. Way more itchy than I used to be before accutane.

The generic stuff is way cheaper and there’s no difference in chemical makeup btw.

I had SEVERE cystic acne and it cured it. No mental sides. I was happy to have a clear face

Any sides that persisted after your treatment was over?

I get sun burned easily. I would take that over acne though. Accutane is a game changer.

I took it in high school and it kicked my acne's ass. Until I got on gear I might get a pimple once every 3 months, now (on Test and NPP) I get a couple a month. I really do believe that it has permanently reduced the sebum that my skin produces.

The only sides I got while on it was chapped lips and had to stay out of the sun or wear a really strong sunscreen. That's it. I even bought some more Accutane from a UGL just in case of a bad outbreak of acne while on cycle.

It worked very well against my severe acne, though I still have some today, occasionally. But it triggered hair loss in me at 21 years old exactly like 10 days into it. I watched my hair which was extremely thick and almost embarrassingly voluminous become thin and fragile, shedding a lot for 6 months. Doctor reassured me it was normal and would come back afterwards.

It didn't really come back just kept getting worse even after years. I now take Finasteride and that did work very well. I am now convinced Accutane did trigger some sort of DHT hormone increase which made my hair fall, OR made my hair intolerant to my normal DHT levels.

I used to be very resentful about this but now not so much, I needed Accutane because my face was horrible.

I also feel this. Completely anectodical but I started norwooding at 17. Started finasteride at age 18 and I took at least 2 long ""cycles"" of Accutane. now at 19 1 year in my hair is nice and thick but still norwood 1, maybe slightly better. No side effects from finasteride, not yet at least. None of my male family members started balding before their 30s.

Meant to clarify the 2 long cycles of Accutane were when I was 15-16

Well I had absolutely horrible cystic acne. I would get actual massive boils, and I mean massive. Many of them appeared on my face, and each of them left terrible scars, and made me so down on myself that I hid away inside my room. My doctor was so fricking careless and useless he insisted I stay on antibiotics instead of going on accutane. Then I got one appear right between my eyes and it was so big the puss spread into my eye and it swole up so bad it looked like I got punched by Mike Tyson. This was enough for me to get onto a waiting list for a dermatologist here in the UK and I was hoping I would finally get prescribed accutane. This also coincided with me seriously researching steroids and wanted to take a cycle of testosterone, previously the only thing holding me back was my obvious predisposition for acne. So after a while I got my date for the dermatologist, and did in fact decide to hop on test, and I guess my thinking at the time was
    >hopefully I'll get on accutane before any acne sides appear
    >if not then it'll really convince them to put me on accutane

After quite a few weeks in and just before I was due to see the dermatologist, I got acne like I had never had before. I woke up one morning and it was spread from the back of my shoulder right the way down my entire arm to my elbow, no boils, just absolutely shitloads of pimples, you couldn't even see normal skin. And they started appearing on my chest and stomach in the same way, and all over my back, with even bigger spots mixed in there too.

When I went to the dermatologist she was shocked, and said she had barely ever seen acne as bad, and told me I should have been on accutane a long time ago. She also took the opportunity to feel up my bicep which was looking juicy from the test. I honestly can't remember the dosages they had me on, but it was high, especially the last few weeks of it when they gave me a super high "blast" dose, I assume to reduce the chances of my acne returning.

So needless to say it cleared up my acne well, and I got all the typical sides such as very dry skin and super dry lips. I never experienced much hair loss, maybe a bit of thinning while I was on it, and no negative psychological effects. No boils have ever returned, but I have had some small spots, and also some slightly bigger ones due to my own stupidity, mainly thinking I was literally immune to getting acne now and putting thick oil-like products on my skin.

But of course as with all drugs there must be a catch, and I have to admit despite it being many many years ago now, I still have very dry skin. The insides of my ears are constantly flakey, my lips get chapped as hell during winter, I get dandruff easily and my scalp is itchy. I can literally rub moisturiser all over my skin and it absorbs so quickly my skin won't even be moist. I also believe it messed with the oil glands in my eyes, and subsequently gave me blepharitis.

So to your answer your question yes, there has been lingering sides, but I was also given a very high dose. Would I do it again? Frick yeah, my skin is pretty good now, dry skin is sure as hell easier to deal with than giant boils. Although I'm left with scars, I don't even regret going on test either, because I have and would have had scars anyway, a few more on my back didn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things. For whoever actually read all of this I hope you enjoyed my story, as you can probably tell I don't have much to do right now.

I mean I thought my long ass post explained pretty well that I was on a very dose and I've had long term and persistent dryness ever since. I can assure you my water intake is high and always has been. This is something that's known to happen to some people, and I've spoken to professionals who've confirmed that I seem to have residual effects from it.

Here's another one that's similar to what I would get, big hard painful lumps in super random places. I got them everywhere, had one exactly like this photo, also got them around my eyes, my chin, the tip of my nose, my armpits, my neck, my earlobe, I even got one on my fricking dick once

aiyya, how the frick can u get deep pimples on your nose though? does it just turn into a lump on the outside and inside? doesnt seem like theres enough skin there for a cyst to form. man i wouldnt wish the shit on my worst enemy such a lame card to get dealt .

I know what you mean by it not seeming like the nose is deep enough for such a thing to form, but trust me it did. It wasn't on the inside, just a big shiny sore red lump right the end of my nose that made me look like Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer.

I took accutane for like three months in 2009 when I was 16. I had severe acne and it got rid of it completely and I’ve never had it again even 13 years later. A few permanent side effects though:
    >It almost certainly stunted my growth (I was 5’10” when i started and I stopped growing, my brother and dad are both 6’2”)
    >My face gets very scaly and dry if I don’t shower at least once every two days

Still have a full head of hair at 29 and very minimal thinning so I don’t think it affected my scalp. It didn’t make me KMS either so that’s also nice. Overall, I probably wouldn’t do it again if I were given the choice.

i used the face cream, not the pills. i was a lazy teenager and immediately started putting the shit on at night, and leaving it on, never washed my face in the morning. it raped my acne, i have not had even minor acne since. i do get the odd pimple now and again but it's effectively gone

I had really bad acne and the thing is using differin gel which is over the counter along with a good cleanser/mostiurizer and sunscreen routine basically cleared it.
Try Differin gel which is a retoinoid before accutane. It takes about 3 months to start working though so give it about half a year.

i've only been on a regimen of it once
took it for 4 months out of the 6 i was supposed to
dry eyes, lips, and face were the most prominent side effect but i also had some minor joint and back pain from it
acne came back after i stopped but not nearly as bad as it was before; i probably need to get on it again

Worked perfectly. Side effects went away once I stopped taking. Very rarely acne now, maybe 1-2 very small pimples every month. While I was on it, my skin and lips were very dry. Lived and breathed moisturizer for the duration. Felt kind of "off" sometimes but nothing anxiety inducing or worrisome. You can kind of feel it working its magic sometimes I guess. My night vision got a touch worse too. But all of these things are very minor and worth not having to deal with huge blotches of cystic acne anymore.

totally cleared my severe cystic acne in 4 months. only serious side effects were a bit of brain fog, occasional fatigue and very dry skin and lips. skin was completely clear for about a year and a half but since then i do still get small breakouts on occasion. been close to 4 years now and there haven’t been any lingering effects that i’ve notice. this shit literally saved my life i probably would have roped if it didn’t work

Isotretinoin worked really great for me. I had a dose of 40 mg at 85kg bodyweight, so slightly less than the minimum recommended dosage of 0.5 mg per kg. I had a little dry skin, very dry lips, and my skin was much more easily burned by the sun. I had no permanent side effects. I completed the treatment in may, and i still haven’t had any acne.

I had a high dose as a 17 year old and it made me suicidal. It took me a couple years to recover from the brain fog it caused, and it didn’t even cure my acne all the way. I’ve heard from friends who have taken it that most of the time you have to do two rounds of it before you are completely cured. It did reduce my acne by about 60% on my face, but it’s still all over my body, and being moronic for a year wasn’t worth it. The dry skin wasn’t that bad though.
Eat less sugar, drink more water, and wash with benzoyl peroxide before trying accutane / isotretinoin.

I had severe cystic acne all through my teens and was the perfect candidate for accutane, but my parents are organic yuppie homosexuals who wouldn't let me get on it because IT IS LE POISOIN!!!!11!

My acne eventually got...better in my 20's when I was finally allowed to make the decision for myself, but it wasn't severe enough anymore that a dermatologist wanted to prescribe accutane. I still haven't been able to get rid of it at age 36, and I've been trying everything all these decades,

I fricking hate my gay homosexual parents for dooming me to a lifetime of looking like a pimply teenager because they were scared of shit like GMO strawberries. Fricking buttholes. Any time they say they love me these days, I just think about all the years I could have not looked like shit and I want to knock their teeth out.
