Acid Reflux and GERD solution

I've lived unaware that I've had this for a few years now and it's side effects are starting to take a serious toll on my health. How do I fix this? Google and Youtube are giving me generic advice

    More sugar/fruit/low fat milk, less starches and fat, minimum pufas.
    Anything that is too stressful for the abs might make it worse (leg training, OHP etc.) but that's something you'll have to figure out yourself.

      I've had OP's issue all my life and fruit makes it worse, especially acidic fruit like oranges and green apples. If I have an apple before bed I cant sleep.

        That's partly why you add sugar. Sugar is PH neutral. It also reduces stress and cortisol so anything you eat after eating sugar becomes easier to digest.

            The fruit literally doesn't have enough sugar, that's why it's acidic and causes gut issues.
            Besides, the fat you eat is the fat you wear. You literally CANNOT get fat on unlimited sugar and low fat diet.

    The lansoprazole you get from a doctor is better than the OTC shit. Don't ask me how or why, it just is.

    Avoid caffeine and avoid alcohol.

    Wife has had Acid Reflux for years and a lot of women suffer from it.
    1. I doubt you're active, acid reflux tends to aggravate more in people who sit a lot.
    2. Fats/Oils make the problem worse.
    3. Light amounts of regular fiber.
    4. Probiotic foods (note not probiotics themselves)
    5. Lower stress
    6. sleep on left side
    7. no late night snacks anymore, ever.
    8. lose weight.

    Also there is a difference between lower sphincter reflux and esophagus reflux.
    An issue in lower sphincter reflux can cause pressure changes in esophagus sphincter. instead of farting, the gas comes up through the stomach, the extra pressure causes the esophagus to open.

    You need to assume both are an issue, not just one. You also need to get a specialist to look down your throat and physically tell you if either look damaged. It takes less than an hour.

    You need to be strict with acid reflux, if not the body can't heal which sphincter is damaged
    this can take months and premature laxation on your part will cause it to start back up.

    Also possible it is genetic, at which point literally only surgery can fix it.

      also to add to this, they will try to put you on omeprazole or another acid reducer.
      you can use these to heal your body temporarily.
      However if you use these long term your testosterone will drop, your hair will fall out, you will need to have blood work every few months to ensure you aren't losing any micronutrients.

      Reason for this is the acid reduction prevents your ability to digest meat based proteins.

    I drink a glass of ACV and water every night after dinner and I think it helps for me. Seems counter intuitive to add more acid to the stomach but in some cases reflux can be because not enough acid in the stomach.

      No, acv is alkanazing due to how our body processes it. On top of tgat, if you go organic, you get beneficial healthy bacteria that can counter h pylori.
      I would recommend home made water kefir over acv. It regulates acidity and created conditions in which good bacteria will thrive, while bad bacteria like pylori will cease to exist.
      Btw, saudis did study where they were consuming 40ml of white wine vinegar for 2 weeks. 90% of them got rid of h.pylori. but they used one more thing to clean h.pylori. i don't remember what.

      Thanks everyone for the advice so far.

      I ignored it most of my life too but now I'm getting side effects from not digesting food properly like trembling, numb parts of body, etc.

    Sleep on your left shoulder, lose weight, take a decent probiotic, don't get on meds. They will frick you up and keep you dependent.

      Also to parrot/counter what this anon says. Pantoprazole is not something you need to be on forever. If you’re under 30 you can be on it for like 6 months then ween off.

    This will sound moronic. Sleep on your left side. It has something to do with how your stomach is aligned. Less likely for the stomach acid to go up your throat. Get a prescription for pantoprazole take that shit religiously. Don’t eat anything 3 hours before you sleep. GERD can also be induced by stress. Also cut coffee/caffeine out of your life. I had a real bad bout with GERD it burned a hole in the back of my throat. Don’t slouch or lay down after you eat. Either stand, sit straight up or go for a walk. God speed anon.

    Juat fix your gut microbioke with d3, b complex and probiotics/fermented foods. Avoid emulgators and seed oils as they promote bad bacteria. Lots of books on this topic and you a moron if you have to ask here.
    All official drugs for acidic reflux will irreversebly frick your digestive system. Avoid them.

    I have GORD combined with a hiatus hernia, and it's not fun. Some people talk about it like its just indigestion, but they have no idea.

    Yiou can minimise it my avoiding inflamatory foods like capsicum and tomato, avoiiding eating too close to bedtime, sleeping on your back or side and not on your face. But the only thing that actually stopped it for me was medication. Namely Somac, a proton pump inhibitor.

    If you ignore this shit too long like I did it can have serious consequences. I was getting spasms in my esophagus so it felt like my adams apple was fricking dislocated or something, like it was in the wrong place too high up. And then one day I ended up in hospital with a piece of lamb stuck in my esophagus because basiclaly the whole tube was inflamed and constricted. They had to do an endoscopy to pull it out. People who have it too long can have the cells in their esophagus literally mutate into intenstine cells, which can eventually lead to cancer.

    Do yourself a favor, anon, and go to the doctor sooner than I did.

    I started taking the PB8 brand of probiotic after reading that one of the strains it contains was shown to reduce heartburn and I think it has helped.

    Stop eating so much saturated fat and salt. You can reliably get acid reflux by eating a lot of those and then lying down to rest.
