Adult braces

I'm 28 and I need to get braces. I've had 'em before in my early 20s, but the place I went to was so shit and with such low quality equipment that after 2 years of constantly breaking I told 'em to take 'em off. I can't get Invisalign cause my jaw has a massive overbite and they need to do it with metal brackets and then do jaw surgery, but I feel like a fricking moron wearing those as a 28 year old single man. Are there any other stealthier options? Has anyone here had or still have braces when over 25?

No, moron. I need braces. My jaw hurts and locks and my teeth are like blown by the wind. Not everything is a big pharma conspiracy.

The problem isn't your teeth the problem is you care more about the perception other people have of you more than your own health.

I finally got braces at 23 because I needed them. Does it look goofy at first? Yes? Is it uncomfortable at first? Yes. Do i give a frick what other people think of me? No. just do it right, get the metal ones it'll be 1 to 2 yrs big fricking deal but at least your health is in order at the end.

Posting in epic teeth thread to tell all you guys that aesthetic buckers is all in the whiteness. Sure, people will judge you for a crooked smile but that judgement will be 10,000x worse if your teeth are yellow and disgusting. Get braces, Invisalign etc. to get them straight but in the meantime you need to get those 60 dollar teeth whiteners they sell at pharmacies, absolute EASIEST way to make yourself more attractive almost instantly.

Worked really well for me. I used them for 5 days. Multiple people asked me afterwards if I got teeth whitening. The flesh around your teeth can get pretty sensitive even after a few days, but it was a little annoying, not really painful.

Whitened teeth make you look like a sociopath or an extremely vain person. If your teeth are not yellow then don't frick with them.

Had them for 1,5 years from ages 24-25 or something like that. Have a friend who wears them at ate 30. Have clients who wear them at age 30. No need to be insecure about it. It's better to consult an orthodontist on the stealthier options but I know that in some cases they can be attached behind your teeth and there are (though 2x more expensive) less visible options like ceramic braces

One of my professors, an old lady around 65 had braces for a couple of years, naturally visible all the time like braces are, but it looked good when she took them off 🙂
also I had braces myself, and I have just let them keep the braces on the backside of my teeth, so they've been there for like 8 years now or something (had braces for 2~ years)

yeah, I still have braces on the back of my teeth. They're not visible unless you shove a mirror in my mouth (please don't), and keep the teeth safely in place, and definitely support me with some bonus placebo safety feeling.

it's actually completely fine in like 99% of cases (as in, the front braces would have stuff getting stuck a lot more) - stuff has a harder time getting stuck in the back ones, and if anything does my tounge is right there to get it out usually instantenously.
and as far as front bracers go you just need to generally avoid salads or food with tons of tiny bits, just take a quick look in the mirror after meals, and you're golden too.

Stop being a fricking pussy and get then. It'll take what, a year at most? You're gonna be turning 29/30 anyway. Would you rather have straight teeth by then or not?

I actually had it for 2-3 years. The dentist then said she never saw teeth moving so fricking slow. I don't know if it's because my body is moronic or because her shit was low quality. On the other hand, when she had to take out 4 wisdom teeth they popped out like zits. No pain whatsoever.

This is always a good point - time will pass regardless of what you do, wether you're improving yourself or not. In 5 years, 5 years will have passed.

Braces are expensive. You'll look like you're doing at least okay if you can afford them. Oh yeah and wear your retainer at night after for as long as you care about them being straight.

29 just went to an orthodontist and I'm putting them on in feb.

The reason is TMJ, my right side is fricked and pops out of place.

He told me I am going to wear some sort of mouth guard for a while to correct my bite since my lower jaw teeth are kinda downhill in a way also I had an extraction and the two back teeth are kinda sliding down. and then the braces.

Orthodontists are awful at fixing tmj. there's a chance nothing changes.

Went to an oral surgeon first which helped me fix my sinusitis, and he told me it's because of my malocclusion. We'll see what happens

I worked at a dentist that did full mouth reconstruction, and we would regularly have patients ages 30-80 have to get braces as the first step in their FMR.

Only some people aged 18-35 were vain enough to choose Invisalign when braces were the objectively better option
