Aesthetic SS?

Can you be aesthetic by doing SS?

No, because SS is a novice program and no novice is aesthetic. Can you begin your path towards becoming strong and aesthetic with SS? Sure.
Now stop asking stupid moron questions.

im not noob, how long should on stay on this program? what if i add some heavy barbell curls no joke. im 27, have hit 60kg ohp before. coming back to training after off a long layoff

All programs written ever are done so with the assumption that you will probably curl.

3 months, just enough to get familiar with the lifts and then move to an intermediate program.

You stay on for a minimum of 3 months. Afterwards, it's up to you. It's best to stick with it a little longer to eke out what linear progression you can, but obviously you don't need to and can just switch to whatever you feel like.

what about this kinobody thing? I got my shoulder strength from that because i was doing incline bench all the time rather than bench.

What's a good intermediate program after you're no longer a novice? Texas method? I think im watching to much of mark rippetoe

Well, what do you want to do? An intermediate now has to be more specific in terms of their overall goals.

I want my upper body to be strong as hell. Lower body will be strong anyways. And i don't want to be fat, not lean either. A bit leaner than bear mode. Lean enough to "look good"

And how long do you have to spend in the gym? You've been on a 3 times a week schedule, can this be increased or are you more comfortable with it?

Right now on SS im spending 1 hour in the gym, sometimes 1.5 if i add some isolations at the end. Im ok with this.

I would be willing to do 4 times a week so long as it doesn't drain me out completely. like a lighter 4th day, or a more specific focus on the 4th day like shoulders for example. just throwing ideas out there, the programs would guide better.

Makes me thing 5/3/1 BBB. Simple, 4 days, volume focused. See if it fits your schedule.
As a last resort, you could always do Madcow over TM, since it's a little more volume heavy than TM while maintaining the same rough outline and schedule, since it is just modified TM. But you probably won't look like this fella.

adding one thing. Think eric bugenhagen back when he was leaner. that's my goal physique. absolutely shockingly impressive and strong as hell. I won't be as big as him genetically, but this is the goal "look"

Until you're no longer a novice. Anyone giving you an exact timeframe is a dyel retard. Until you're unable to recover and continue to progress every session.

        >3x5 routine focused entirely on strength gains, squatting and other compound lifts
        >not a beginner powershitting routine
        literal retard detected

Literal retard who can't read a book and doesn't understand a single thing about strength training.

good point about being able to recover from every session, that makes sense. Would you have to do splits? I follow eric bugenhagen and he says to get really strong at an exercise, just basically do that exercise, plus maybe one more. eg just do ohp all the time, plus a little bench maybe.

your other lifts will suffer but you only do this for a few weeks and your shoulders will be huge. then repeat for other lifts. what do you think about this.

            Anonymous

I think you should ignore the advice of genetically elite steroid users. It's true for the upper body lifts that volume and frequency matters a lot and generally great presses press 4x a week, but that only comes into play as a mid to late stage intermediate.

      t. has never done SS

you will make some aesthetic gains but not nearly as many as if you did a hypertrophy focused routine
imo too many newbies are thrust into a powershitting routine when their goal is to make gains and look good rather than being able to lift a lot of weight one time.

Powerlifting is a sport, training the squat and deadlift doesn't make you a powerlifter any more than doing curls makes you a bodybuilder

        >powerlifting is a sport therefore if a routine doesn’t explicitly say “powerlifting in it” it’s not a powershitting routine
lolwut, it’s literally the same programming as any “powershitting” routine, not to mention most powershitters recommend starting with something like SS.
The routine is designed to reach the same goals as any powerfatty with the exact same volume and exercises

I guess stupid dyel gays think that there is no reason to do squats and deadlifts unless you are a powerlifting and your time would be better spent getting your tricep kickbacks up instead

sure the idea of increasing beginner beginner strength then switching to a hypertrophy routine afterwards sounds ideal but there’s two main problems with SS being shilled to every newbie
                >most people start lifting to make gains and look good. then they do SS because some fat retard shilled it to them not realizing it’s garbage for making aesthetic gains and then they quit because they’ve busted their ass adding 5lbs to their squat every week just to look like a DYEL
                >they finish SS and get into strength training and decide to do a more advanced routine but SS is all they know so they just do something similar like TM and end up becoming fat powerhomos
A very small % of people actually end up completing SS then switching to a hypertrophic routine, SS is literally just a pipeline to being a powergay

Ok none of that has anything to do with my post. Somehow you are not understanding my point.
The idea that SS is not going to build you a bunch of muscle is retarded. Only retards think that. Adding 200 lbs to your squat and deadlift and 75-100 lbs to your press and bench and gaining a bunch of bodyweight will build a ton of muscle
Muscle is what makes you look aesthetic
So the program that builds the most muscle will be the best for aesthetics, and fucking around with dumbbells will not build as much muscle as adding 200 lbs to your deadlift will
So SS is the best program for aesthetics
But bodybuilding broscience has taken such deep root in your brains you think if you see a little fat on someone and aren't lifting in some arbitrary rep range you therefore won't ever look good

No, because no beginner routine whatsoever will get you aesthetic. 3-4 months for a novice just will simply not result in much visible muscular development in all but the skinniest guys.
SS and programs like it focus on weight on the bar because that at least will skyrocket, and be something you can actually feel excited about.

are weighted chin ups enough for biceps? i hit 30kg chin ups before. arms were alright. but i think i have enough CNS power to eventually after a year or so get that up to 60-70kg weighted. would my biceps be "aesthetic" if i achieve this? cheers m8

curls for biceps, don't fall for the meme that compounds will work your arms. it won't.

why not? chin ups use the biceps a lot. and i don't think you can do 60kg weighted chin ups with small biceps right? My biceps are sore as hell after chin ups, as much as from curls
