am i wasting my time learning javascript and react/angular/node? Literally everyone shits on me for learning this but honestly its the route i've taken so I'm gonna stick to this for about another month.
I come from a C/Python background too, so its not like JS is the only language I know. i plan on getting around to C++ but honestly my plans atm are to build some simple web projects with JS frameworks and hopefully that'll land me a job.
Then maybe I'll grind out leetcode in the future or something. but yea, am i wasting my time with js, node, react, or angular?

Node and react are the ones imo

I haven't come across angular much apart from legacy stuff

Focus on React & Node for the frontend stuff. Angular is out of style.

No you are not wasting your time, most money is in webapp development. As a part of your learning I would suggest looking into the server side and how webapps are hosted on apache and nginx.

Buy a domain and set up your own webapp/website on your own VPS using nginx.
        https://landchad.net/

It will be a bit of tinkering if you aren't comfortable with it. That's good, you want to learn by doing.

If you need to connect to your server, use an SSH client: I like to keep it simple so I use Putty.
        https://www.putty.org/

No installation of linux or VM's required.

One thing I've learned is that many IT people are intimidated by Linux and vim and if you know your way around the backend, many people give you instant respect.

If you don't know how to use vim - don't worry. It has a built in tutorial called vim tutor. Do it.

The other part of this is that once you get to the point where you can set up a server, configure/maintain the HTTPS server backend, and build a webapp and host it on that server, guess what? You have all the skills required to be a "full stack developer".

Add in an SQL database that your webapp interacts with and you are unironically worth six figures to any IT company.

thanks for the advice guys. i really don't know why the consensus is so varied on programming languages.
One group of people will shit on a skillset while another group will praise it. I'm always under the impression that I'm waiting time because of what other people say. but this gives me more motivation now.

If you are talking about IST a lot of those guys don't have industry experience so I would take it with a grain of salt.

At least in my experience you should not think of a language as "I am learning python so I can be a python programmer".

You should think of these as tools or skills. Learning how to make a finished product that someone is willing to pay for is the important thing. The tools (language/tools/etc.) are going to change slowly over time but the principles are still the same just like they are still the same when it comes to building a table whether you use a hand sander or a power sander, what type of varnish, etc.

You can use a philips or flathead but the worker has to do the same thing, screw the damn thing in.

        >This is LandChad.net, a site dedicated to turning internet peasants into Internet landlords by showing them how to setup websites, email servers, chat servers and everything in between.
        >A Virtual Personal Server (VPS) is a very cheap and easy way to get a web server. Without you having to buy expensive equipment.
Does this homie really not see the irony of wanting to turn people into internet landlords and then tell them pay monthly to rent someone else's server?

Realistically you are going to spend huge amounts of money building your own and setting up the gateway

Based, I am unironically convinced that wagies that want to go back to an office are braindead. So far this week I have went to the grocery store, got my haircut, worked out, got my car worked on, went on a tinder date, all while getting paid to do it. Who the frick doesn't want to live like this?

    Fukken based lad
Just started an internship, "hybrid environment", not having a commute is so much better I get to go to the gym at 7:30am instead of like 6, then make breakfast while listening to some boomer give "mandatory training" presentations aka self explanatory shit I already know and don't need to pay attention to. Then do all my work in a few hours and ask for more shit after that. After I'm settled in I'll be trying to work on second streams of income during work time
