I heard that phytoestrogens actually decrease your estrogen levels because they are not as potent as the ones your body produces and they take up space in the receptors preventing the more potent native estrogen from taking effect

      >I heard that phytoestrogens actually decrease your estrogen levels
That's dumb. They wouldn't be so effective at treating estrogen deficient ailments otherwise. They're commonly used in lieu of HRT for a variety of conditions related to menopause, from hot flashes and headaches to osteoporosis. If phytoestrogens worsened their estrogen condition by filling up the space with weaker molecules then nobody would use it.

Additionally, anabolic steroids are commonly synthesized from plant sterols. You can go unironically touch grass, pluck it out of the ground, and turn it into steroids with the right equipment.

Alcohol =/= beer. Beer is starchy, full of carbs, and aromatizes into estrogen because of the hops. Neither wine nor liqour does this.

Alcohol in any form is still one of the worst neurotoxins you can consume, and not only that but it nukes many organs too. As was said earlier, the only drugs which has a worse impact on users health and mental impairment is meth and crack. You might not get fat from vodka but you are still nuking your body

Long term impairment from alcohol isn't primarily from alcohol use, it's mostly related to thiamine deficiency. Alcohol strips B vitamins from your body and brain. If you take a multivitamin, as i'm sure your do on a ISTness forum, you can avoid serious and/or permanent consequences. It's hard on your organs though, especially hard liquor, but most pharmaceuticals you take are going to be much harder. It's one of the big reasons why everything says not to use with alcohol. Not because alcohol necessarily interferes with the drugs, but because of how oral pharma drugs strain your liver. A few grams of over the counter tylenol is enough to kill you by shutting off your liver.

the blood sugar effect varies based on your individual physiology. It is processed immediately because its recognized by your system as a poison. This means that it is burned before glucose, which usually will increase free blood glucose.

There is a small effect on blood vessels, and its true that moderate drinking might reduce heart disease risk slightly, but it is heavily dose-dependent like most poisons. 1 or 2 units is a very small amount of alcohol.

There is nothing you can put in your body that is unequivocally good for you. There are no 'weird tricks' in nature. It increases risk for all cancers slightly. How can injuring your esophagus and stomach lining with strong alcohol not result in disease eventually? Hot water also will eventually cause dysplasia and cancer.

Have a drink, idgaf. But its not healthy beyond 1 or 2 units. Thats 2 weak drinks or 1 strong drink per day.

Confirmed for being moronic. Every drug comes with risks, but psychedelic drugs are only dangerous for those who are either already mentally ill or have genetic predisposition to serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia. If you were already programmed to become a schizo at age 30, you will turn into a schizo at age 20 if you were to consume psychedelics. To people with normal brains it's harmless.

The drinking culture is too strong for anything to be done, and that has been the case for a thousand years in many countries. It's very addictive and if you take it away from millions of junkie citizens all at once you will have social unrest of your hands. One of the funniest things at the peak of the covid lockdowns was that in most countries liqour stores were among the only stores allowed to stay open, as it was considered essential

These statistics are bunk when you consider the prevalence of each substance. On my 1.5mile trip home from work I passed two stores that sell liquor and beer, and one bar. When Walmart starts selling heroin we can revisit this idea, but untill then, everything in moderation is the key to a balanced lifestyle.

You seem to misunderstand the analysis. It doesn't count the overall usage, that would make no sense. It's on a per-user basis measuring equivilanet or standard dosages for each substace. The fact that it's legal seems to fool a lot of brainlets into thinking that makes it less harmful than its illegal counterparts

Having said this, heroin is a bit more addictive than alcohol is. But because alcohol is so easily available and still an addictive subtance, it comes as no surprise that roughly 40% of Americans report alcohol abuse having been a problem in their family. From a physiological and cognitive standpoint, an alcoholic destroys himself more than a heroin junkie does. Simple as
