There have been two great narcotics in European civilisation: Christianity and alcohol. I’ve quit both and my life has improved.

You don't you just designate days you are going to drink and drink less on those days. Also you drop all friendships that revolve around alcohol unless you are 22 and a moron.

I've been drinking since I was 16... absolutely getting nuked every time, it was never a like a curve, it was 0 to 100....

I'm 35 now... I can still quit cold turkey, go on for months at the time without a drink... for for some reason I always go back to it because life is just too miserable without a proper binge with the lads....

I guess that's just what it is... not everybody can have a perfectly beautiful life, be healthy and self-controlled to a tee...

    So, frick it.

      >for for some reason I always go back to it because life is just too miserable without a proper binge with the lads
This was my dilemma for years. Got to where I just couldn’t process alcohol the same, would feel fine for an hour or two, and then be a bloated hungover mess. I genuinely don’t have time for that, and it is reminiscent of a stupid ass dog eating something that makes it sick over and over again.

This is where I’m at. I literally only drink with friends and it’s fine for a bit but always feel like shit and always regret it afterwards. Think I just have to finally bite the bullet and dissapoint some of those friends

I’ve actually been fortunate enough to become averse to drinking, but I know that feel bro. Best thing is to just avoid drinking friends and go to the gym instead. Also, if they don’t want to hang out with you while you’re not drinking, they aren’t really your friends. It really blows my mind how socially acceptable drinking alcohol, even in excess, is in the United States. I’ve seen so many respectable, good men turn into complete frickin losers from drinking. Set goals at the gym, with cardio, etc. When you occasionally twist off, you will notice how bad it fricks up your progression.

For me its very easy because I am autistic and absolutely hate the taste/feeling of alcohol, never mind the averse health effects. Besides, most drunk people are insufferable, I always feel like they try to prove something to me.

Well, develop more respect for yourself and be more aware. You drink because you are weak. Be stronger and realize how much of a drag it truly is as it takes more from you than it gives.
