      I'll have 1 beer, 1 glass of wine, or 1 wienertail like once every weekend. Sometimes I go 2 - 3 weeks without drinking. I only get drunk like once every 3 years.

      I do it because it tastes good and I like trying new things. For example, I haven't had a White Russian in 5 years. So when I was at a tavern last weekend I had them make me a White Russian. I had 2, they were really good.

    It's not that there's a healthiest way to consume alcohol so much as a least unhealthy way; honestly, I wouldn't even recommend once a week and I certainly don't recommend actually getting properly drunk in general. All that being said, it's probably not going to kill you to have a few on occasion and you're getting roughly similar doses of alcohol in any given drink, but mixed drinks are probably the worst for you because on top of the literal poison and cleaning solvent, they're full of extra sugar and other assorted shit from the mixers. So go on, have a pint, a glass of wine, a dram of whiskey, but only when the occasion calls for it. Date night, birth of a child, a wedding, holidays, stuff like that. Even in the Bible it doesn't explicitly forbid alcohol, it just says not to go getting wasted.

    Rum and Fresca on an empty stomach. You get drunk faster, it hits harder, and as long as you don't eat for the time it takes to pass through, the excess calories can't be stored. Copious water to rehydrate, and you're good to go. You can do other alcohol but I find rum metabolizes the best and causes the least hangover. None at all in my case

    If you find being drunk fun, and if that is that important to you, then you must accept the health risk of alcohol.
    If you are interested in minimizing the risk and the harm of alcohol, then you drink just the right amount to be drunk for fun, and no more beyond that. Also, exercise restraint on how often you have 'fun' that way.
    Of course, drinking lowers inhibition and self-restraint, which means you will need a non-drinking buddy to keep you accountable, but I can assure you that teetotalers don't like being around drunk people, much less have to help them control themselves.

    currently trying not to drink. ive been bad. like, a bottle of red wine + 8 seltzers almost every night of the week, sometimes more on weekends. im 25 and literally all i want to do is stop doing this bc ive gained so much weight and look like shit.

    a few weeks ago i stopped drinking for a week and a half, then started again after i got sick and "rewarded" myself once i felt better. then it was right back to full throttle. i want to stop so bad bros. sorry for blog post

    Alcohol in moderation, around 1 drink a day, may have mild health benefits, although probably still bad for your brain health.

    The healthiest alcohol is probably vodka, because some of that extra chemicals are not all that good for you - although vodka can be a boring way to drink.

    Vitamin A and polyunsaturated fat are both known to make ethanol much more toxic, and some people have noticed much better alcohol tolerance after depleting these from their body.

    Alcohol processing in the liver also causes vitamin A to be broken down, and so alcoholics are known to be deficient in vitamin A. Probably much or most of the toxicity of alcohol is just the vitamin A toxicity, but when vitamin A is depleted, such as in long-term alcoholics, the ethanol isn't really that toxic to anything - it was the vitamin A that was toxic.
    So researchers decided to supplement vitamin A to alcoholics, because they are known to be deficient, and it was found that the vitamin A greatly increased liver toxicity - once again showing ethanol toxicity is linked to vitamin A.

    Another factor is saturated fat is protective against liver damage from ethanol.

    So theoretically the healthiest way to drink alcohol would be after depleting vitamin A and PUFAs, while eating lots of beef for the saturated fat. But depleting vitamin A takes a long time, although alcohol consumption itself is actually pretty efficient at depleting vitamin A.

    silver tequila has the lowest calories of all alcohol relative to its alcohol percentage, it really depends on what you mix it with though.
    a single drink every now and then isn't going to hurt you. in bongland we measure in units, 1 unit is how long it takes the average body to completely remove the alcohol from itself. a pint of standard 4% beer, ale, or cider is 2.5 units. a single pint a day after work isn't going to do significant harm. 14 units a week is what's recommended but there have been leaks saying it's a fair bit higher and it was rounded down a lot.
    it depends on so many individual factors though. different people and different races have different tolerances: Europeans and Arabs have additional enzymes compared to the Chinese to process different types of alcohol.
    even tiny amounts of alcohol interfere with muscle growth, however depending on your age that can be completely mitigated: in uni I was drinking 100+ units a week and was packing the beginner gains on. now I'm older even a single night out makes me lose definition from the intramuscular fat my body packs on from the booze.
    alcohol is very high in calories (7kcal/g, so a 25mL measure contains ~60kcal) and brewers put a lot of sugar in there as well. picrel is a 620mL bottle so that's 242kcal and I had 5 last night with my curry (1,210kcal just in wet).
    really it's the high calories and the damage methanol (the byproduct of processing alcohol which causes hangovers) causes which are the real physical evils of boozing. if you overdo it eventually methanol will cause liver scarring, nerve damage, and dissolve your brain.
    as far as I'm concerned as long as you don't drink so much/mix drinks that you get a hangover you'll be fine.
    I'm admittedly a heavy drinker from a long line of heavy drinkers, but my heart, liver, bloodwork, and VO2 are above average quality for my age (40). I never get hangovers because I'm careful about what I drink.

    Recovering alcoholic here. Therapy really helped my relationship to alcohol - it helped me work out why I couldn't stop after one drink and drank myself to oblivion. Nowadays I drink one or two drinks and feel satisfied, and never alone anymore.

    Still working on the regret for drinking away 15 years of my life, but tbh that's mainly a me problem - everyone else doesn't care or thinks it was fair enough considering my circumstances.

    I like to drink beer while i chop wood, make a huge fire and move all afternoon and evening.
    Guarantee im expending more, or close to the calories I consume. Not cloudy, relatively low alcohol content beer is my favorite.
    Feel weird all afternoon, pass out early, never feel a thing in the mornin

    I recently got wasted after finally seeing friends again after 2 years abroad (home leave from posting abroad), I drank till I threw up bc I just didn't care anymore
    Hadn't thrown up for 15 years bc of alcohol

    Work sucks, wife is crazy, had 3 miscarriages, I work myself to an anti depressant steered cripple

    Alcohol helps, at least for that one night where I can walk with my friends in the snowfall, singing, waking the village up, not giving a damn

    Alcohol is terrible for you no way around it. Most you can do is try to minmax how many calories you consume when you do drink if your cutting, but the hardest part is always not pigging out at the end of the night.

    In any case I try not to let it bother me, at the end of the day, whats the point of having a great physique if you dont do anything with it. Some of the best times are going out to bars and clubs when everyone drunk and having random women grope your muscles and tell you your sexy and jsut getting checked out in general.

    My drinking history for me has been like pyramid so far. I did a lot more when I was younger. At my hayday when i was 17-20, during the summer id drink 2, sometimes 3 times a week, but I was enjoying the prime of my life. Now at 28 during the summer sometimes itll get to once a week but most often once every 2 weeks. Then winters and stuff sometimes once a month if even. Just dont make it the norm and youll be fine. Enjoy your life. Really dont like drinking? Dont do it.

    There's no real healthy way to drink, but moderate drinking probably won't affect your health all that much. It takes 100,000+ lifetime drinks to develop liver problems. Obviously slight increase to cancer risks, calories, sleep quality, hangovers, etc. etc. but guys who drop dead from alcohol either overdose or have been daily drinkers for decades
