2 months sober right now, I was a pretty bad alcoholic. How do I avoid this fate? I’ve been going to parties and shit and still socialize fine but it was so fricking easy when I drank. However I can say as someone who is now sober as parties you realize a lot of people can still be very ducking annoying when drunk
12 beers or fifth of vodka a night pretty much. I had a serious health wake up and decided to turn things around though, which is why I quit so suddenly. I was very fortunate as it was nothing serious and I’m not looking at any long term damage, but I had a panic attack (literally never had one before) that lasted 8 hours and felt like a heart attack and my only thought the entire time was that the drinking was finally about to catch up with me. I was functional though, held down 50 hours of work a week through it all and would just binge drink when I got off work, most people who rapidly decline from alcohol seem to have an all day habit of drinking
LMAO
Dude, waging is ass, I was doing the same thing but also experimenting with supps so I started getting liver pain at about 3-4 drinks a night but kept pushing through because I was hating life.
It get worse after a month, ended up needing an MRI so I quit and did pure keto for a month on the lead up and... MRI showed a perfectly healthy liver.
It was good to back off though, Just like you said, would get off work and feel like shit and just down alcohol and watch stupid shit on youtube. It also fricked with my sleep.
I find drunk people intolerable now. 6 months sober now and I'll never drink again. It was a BIG problem for me for about a decade. To answer your question, give it a bit more time, you're likely still developing your new sober persona. Hell I'm still developing mine. I had to cut some dead weight friends who will likely be alcoholics the rest of their lives. But now I have new friends and hobbies that are helping me grow. Basically anyone that I used to "drink and hang out with" got cut. Now I have yoga friends, D&D friends, and music friends.
If you aren't white knuckling and behaving the same way as before minus drinks I don't see how you could possibly be as boring as a teetotaller. You're already a mentally ill obsessive person with absurd energy. At least I would run to beat my wife home to the liqour store and back even if it was raining or snowing. Now I'm consuming 5 books a week, tearing through school, and working out everyday. I go to old timers meetings, christians meetings, and degwnerate young crackhead ones. I kayak and fish, I camp more often. But more than that is just an attitude of positivity and curiosity and interest. Read Mans Search for Meaning and compare it to messages in the Big Book. And the Big Book itself is lifted from mostly the New Testament. Read Matthew, especially 5-7. Read the Bhagavad Gita, read an intro to Buddhism and its 3 schools.
I think the only boring people are those without openess or curiosity and those who are negative without solutions or defences.
>boring af
Wouldn't that depend on your idea of having a good time formed through your culture. I don't think athletes need to drink to have a good time or people who engage in some other stimulating activity

The function’s most important members and will undoubtedly be given privilege to eat the wings instead of being relegated to the Little Caesers pizza for broke homies. b***hing about how culture is a determinant for whether drinking is fun is a bad argument when all western culture has been centered around men sharing a drink with each other.

>I don't think athletes need to drink to have a good time
Have you ever played sports? Most athletes and professional sportsmen drink shitloads and plenty use recreational drugs.
The point was that there are groups who don't need it to have a good time. They can still do it but in the absence of drinking they wouldn't be seen as boring because you could still have fun doing an alternate activity with them.
Everytime i meet somebody that doesn't drink and says "i don't need to drink to have fun' is, 100% of the time, the most boring guy at a given bar/party whatever, always the guy that looks bored/ out of place. It's even worst when they make comments like 'i think you're drunk / you've had too much to drink'
Maybe once i've met somebody that was normal and fun without drinking, and that's my cousin whos autistic.
lmao at anons "you're boring because you need to drink to have fun" uh yea dipshits, have you ever tasted alcohol in your life ? it fricking works on the brain to make you happy, get off your high horse
Don't even waste your time man, the anons that aggressively preach against alcohol most likely got invited to a "cool" party when they were young and still had some hope of making it, but then they got too drunk made a fool out of themselves in front of Chad and Stacy and got laughed at.
Then they blame the alcohol and the people who facilitated the situation instead of themselves (the one who got too fricked up) like all autists on this site do, and spend their time behind a screen instead of going out once in a awhile to let go and have some fun like most of the planet does.
Either that or they were severely beaten by someone who was a drunk, which is like blaming a crackhead for doing crazy things on crack, it's not really the drugs fault, it never is.
>Either that or they were severely beaten by someone who was a drunk, which is like blaming a crackhead for doing crazy things on crack, it's not really the drugs fault, it never is.
Just to play devil's advocate, the reason people go "my father was an abusive drunk so I don't drink" aren't just blaming the sauce; they just know what happens when it gets combined with people similar to them, and they're making a proactive choice.
Above all, what people itt need to realize is that drinking/not drinking is a choice and it's not your business if someone chooses different than you. Nobody likes the addict that gets out of bed and downs a fifth of vodka, and nobody likes the weirdo that judges everyone who darkens the door of a bar
>non drinker is out of place in place neant for drinking
What an astute observation.
What fun things do you do other than hanging around in bars and shitposting?
I never drank at parties but I had fun encouraging others to drink, even to the point where they are blackout on the floor. Also flirting with/hooking up with druk girls and driving back to my place. Yes I'm a scumfrick. No I'm not sorry.
Alcohol is a poison. I run too much to drink it, I cant afford to be dehydrated.
I wouldnt want to associate with drinkers and smokers. They tend to be a degen bunch with no real plan for the future. Not only that but also have either no desire to live a long life or are actively trying to shorten theirs because of some unresolved self-hatred, I avoid people like that like the plague. If you cant get excited for the simple fact you're given another day on this planet, and have to get high, drunk, etc, to have fun, you have serious issues

The things that work on normies/blue collars are insane. It's like listening to that kid when you were younger who tells you they won't be your friend if you don't do what they want.
>dont drink acohol or smoke
>no friends
>drink alcohol and smoke
>easy socializing
>get friends
I've never met a non-drinker/smoker who wasnt boring af

How bad of an alcoholic? How much were you drinking per day?

How to get musical friends. Ought I to ask the church band? I want to form an acoustic duo like Kings of Convenience.

Non-drinkers/smokers aren’t boring, you”re boring because you need smoking/drinking to have fun at a party.

this is like a gamer saying athletes are boring because none of them play cs go
sounds a lot like people who have no friends
You can still socialize and get friends without drinking.
>Inb4 muh liquid courage
If you need alcohol to be courageous, you're a coward.

OGOWAD (one glass of wine a day) for heart health
Or, OR, just drink pommegranate juice? Cheaper, tastier, healthier.
grapefruit juice is my krypto ngl
I bought a blood pressure monitor and found that 1.5 units of vodka leads to a marked drop in diastolic pressure.
I'm thinking of becoming a wine snob in the new year.
Harmless and good are not the same
So many pussies itt

>he thinks alcohol is unhealthy
>he is unaware of the secret knowledge
Everything in moderation, I moderate by drinking every day after work.
Cold beer on a Wednesday night.
