Alcoholism

Anybody managed to beat alcoholism? I've been drinking a 6 pack daily after returning home from the gym at night for the past 2 months. I have an addictive personality and I feel like I've lost control of my life.

This but don't get to that point where you're drinking a bottle of vodka a night. 6 pack a night isn't a lot OP, so quit while you're ahead

6 pack every single night night is very high amount to drink. in the uk that is more than your weekly MAX alcohol units. it absolutely will wreck your health and test levels. In fact a beer a day is generally unhealthy as well, dont fall for the alcohol israelite

It's longer than that. I used to drink out of boredom for years but it was maybe 1 or 2 cans per night while shitposting on IST when I got back from the gym. But it's been spiralling out of control recently.

I had a seizure quitting cold turkey after being drunk daily for four years. be careful. as for OP, stopping now is super safe. a six pack a day is nothing - not trying to belittle you, just saying that the type of damage to your brain that makes quitting risky probably hasnt happened yet.

I did, but I was never a handle a day drinker bad. I was drinking 1/2 bottle a night for over a year after my wife left me and a 1/3 for another year after that, put on about 30 pounds in the process. Then one day, I just didn’t enjoy the taste anymore, I would pour it and not even finish my first drink. Now I drink only socially and have lost all the weight. Not sure how to help you other than deal with whatever is driving you to drink in the first place

Just stop doing it. Loved all beers. Didn't matter what kind. I was drinking like 3 or 4 of them natty daddy garbage toward the end. They'll give you a hangover while you're still drunk. Pretty sure that's why i don't drink now, thinking about getting drunk makes me feel sick

I drink one beer or very rarely 2, and after that I start getting low blood sugar, headache, nausea, and just feel like shit. Not sure how you could actually want to feel that way 24/7 when you could just eat healthy instead. Even caffeine makes me feel like shit, but at least it doesn't frick up my ability to drive.

Took kratom regularly for about 2 weeks. Came off it and had anxiety and dizziness for almost 6 months. Do not frick with this shit

        It's not that bad

isn't it just a "natural" opiate? opiates kill your urge to drink. coming off kratom is just like opiate withdrawal though.

Some of the symptoms are the same but it's like 1/10th As bad it's readily available so it ez to taper off it's not as bad as being hungover everyday

          >not as bad as being hungover everyday
I drank 500ml-750ml of whiskey or rum for years and just went to work hungover every single day. Hangovers are nothing. Drinking is just boring as frick now. Once you abstain for a month or two even when you try again it isn't good. You just realize you were doing it because of the hangovers. I tapered off boozing with a couple 18 packs of bud lite.

Been thinking about quitting. Been heavy in the handles of dewars and 12 packs of PBR.

Been watching Theo von sobriety videos on israelite tube for inspiration. I came home tonight after work, telling my self I'd take a break, and here I am 2 sheets to the wind on my fiances gin.

Something he said resonated with me, he said something about the gambler and the gambler doesn't play to win he plays to lose. He will win and win over and over but that will just keep him playing. And eventually he WILL lose and he'll lose big. I think my drinkings that way. I'm playing to lose.

It's possible man, I'm right there with you, you just have to find that thing that drinking is substituting. What drinking is a substitution for is the best person you can be, and people like you and me cannot be our best person if we're drinking. You're not alone man.

See if a doctor will write you a prescription for antabuse. I found one willing to do it long term. Been on it for years, and it's kept me sober. I'm about to do a year. Prior to my last relapse, I had done nine months. Prior to that was four months. Each relapse has gotten shorter than the last. But I couldn't do it without antabuse.

I’m just not made to be a drinker. Alcohol seriously fricks me up, and not even from drunkenness. I don’t drink often, but every time I do I regret it. All it takes is a single beer to give me gut inflammation and to generally leave me generally feeling like shit for the following 1-2 days. Maybe I’m just a huge pussy but so be it

  19. 2 years ago

6 pack after work everyday is not good but i wouldn't consider it even close to "alcoholism." i was easily drinking half a fifth every night for like 9 months and i wouldn't even consider that alcoholism. still, it isn't good. i quit drinking completely for a few months now and feel so much better. i'll still drink with other people for a special occasion though.

I don’t drink that often normally. And by that I mean I can go years without even testing or needing it, then every now and then I’ve this occasional seasons where I start to drink few beers after work. Like 4 simple beer like Corona or Budweiser which is like between 4.6-5% alcohol in them. It just mellows me out and I sleep good after that.

Listen, gaywad. From the time I was 18 I was drinking a 750ml bottle of one spirit or another every 3 days. I can drink 500ml of vodka in one night. When I drink during the day then a 1.75l bottle lasts 2 days. Real hardcore alcoholics put me to shame. People fricking chug cup fulls just to stop shaking. Just stop. You will fail. It took me months to actually achieve sustainable sobriety. You kick it for a week and fail, then a fortnight and fail, then a month and fail until it sticks. Get a prescription for naltrexone.

Go to a site like Monument or OarRX or just consult your primary physician. Naltrexone is a cheap generic drug that will shut off the opioid receptors associated with alcohol abuse in your brain. You can still drink, but you’ll no longer feel the euphoric part of it.

Look up the Sinclair Method for the exact protocol.

I had a ten year drinking problem resolve itself essentially overnight thanks to Naltrexone, lifestyle changes and personal discipline.

Depends on you. Antabuse makes it almost physically impossible to drink; naltrexone removes the euphoria and cravings but you can still get wasted if you want to.

Antabuse is a hardcore guardrail, naltrexone is more of a booster. Personally I prefer naltrexone because I like having the occasional wine or beer with friends.

    All addicts love their drug.

More than they want to keep their eye sight, more than they need to keep their toes and even more than they even appreciate their ability to breath.

Addicts rather live their whole life in misery and pain, just that they can keep using that marvelous drug that must be the only source of true happiness in life. They rather get mutilated and die than even imagine life without it. Never underestimate the power of addiction to warp your mind and disturb your sences.

    The more you use it,
the more tolerance your body builds to the poison.
So you need always to take bigger and bigger doses.
But everytime you will get less and less relief from the increasing withdrawl symptoms that those bigger doses of poison causes.
Eventually your dopamine reseptors are so de-sensitized that you get no pleasure at all from drinking.

You drink just to feel normal,
But you will never feel normal because you use drink. Only pleasure from drinking is to temporary escape the misery that drinking causes.
Only way to escape easily is to reverse the brainwashing that makes you drink. Cant recommend Easyway type of stuff enough. 12 free with +20 other helpless cases I know and used to poison myself with instead of enjoying alcohol free life.
