I dont listen to music because I don't want to lack any awareness and injure myself. I also find the workout relaxing on its own and enjoy the time to think quietly and introspect. I've tried headphones a few times and it feels too disconnected and just consooming content to consume. Sometimes people who are doing less compounds that have oversized beats headphones on look really comfy, just dont think it's for me.

I keep my headphones on otherwise I start getting angry at white women for making shitty rap music. The time I forgot my headphones home, I kept mumbling yayayaya to myself to stop the shitty fricking music from getting into my ears. I even put white noise on my phone during sets to pan it out. A boomer stared a bit but I stared back till he looked away.
    Annoying fricking experience.
As for getting jumped, I tend to know most people at my gym. A lot of them are dyels and I'm friends with many fit ones. But I always keep looking around because I still get paranoid very often. I go to a nicer gym so it's probably very unlikely that anyone would be moronic enough to jump me. Most people that I'm not friends with tend to avoid me.

If you are a man that is able to wear headphones in a public setting you are an NPC. You have no instinct that tells you to be aware about your surroundings. As a man you need to be able to detect danger when it appears. Headphones make you completely oblivious to what is going on around you. Someone could come from behind and jump you without you realizing.
