>why is his squat and deadlift so low then
Probably bad genetics, inconsistency, and bad diet, but at the same time, there's a limit to how quickly you can progress without turbodirtybulking/GOMAD, and this guy's already gotten noticeably fatter in his before/after.
>I don't understand how anyone still gets memed into this program.
When you're starting off and don't know jack shit about fitness, you it's hard to not believe every self proclaimed "expert", just because you don't know any better.
I remember when I first got into lifting, I watched AthleanX vids almost religously, and know I know that guy is a total hack. It's a mistake most of us make along the way
>You're not supposed to do SS for several years, it shows that you never really understood the program and it's funny how people still don't get it.
You're right, he should have done GOMAD+ dirtybulk to the point of clinical obesity to make the kind of progress SS promises in short timeframe.
>be 30 year old >don't lift since age 20 >start lifting again >don't do SS, but remember doing it as a 17 year old for a few months >essentially do lmao add5lbs >2pl8+ bench, 3pl8 ATG high bar squat, +50lbs for reps weighted pullups, barely trained deadlift to focus on squat and bench but 4pl8 would be trivial to build up to in a month or two >175lbs BW
just lift lmao
I wasn't aware to be honest.
Do you know the cuck's numbers?
Also not to excuse my ignorance but a terminally online person like that dude should have done some research to see the results of Ripp's advanced programs and who they target and that in the end volume is king.
Plenty of powerlifters don't really look good, weight isn't everything.
He should just do his bull's wife's program at this point, he would probably see more progress.
Also while I don't care about deadlifting that much, following a program and dropping movements that you don't like seems really ridiculous to me.
You're not supposed to do SS at all. It's a garbage low volume program that leaves you looking like shit and demoralized. 99% of normies start lifting not to look like shit.
True but there's some value in speeding up the amount of weight you can lift in such a short time then choose a different routine in like 3 months.
But this bro lifts baby weights and dropped the compounds that he didn't like as another anon said.
This is unironically the mindset of 90%+ guys you see in the gym that look like absolute shit and make zero progress after years of dicking around doing fluff """routines""" with zero intensity.
Meanwhile, every single person I've ever seen in my entire life doing anything close to 1/2/3/4 (virtually always obtained through a beginner strength-focused program) in person looks decent and strong. Maybe not fitness model tier, but at least you can plainly see that they lift.
I can't tell you how many DYEL guys I've seen in the past month doing 15lb curls. Liike really dude? You have zero muscle on your body, you look like ass and you want to stand around doing curls for 20 minutes? I do curls, I like them, but I also have a decent 3/5/5 strength base so I do the curls with 40lb dumbells.after I've done compounds. That's the problem with people who try to jump right into brosplitting without any strength. Their "routines" end up being all garnish (machine iso, pathetic dumbbell 3x10s where you can tell they're just sandbagging etc) with no real entree lifts because they don't know how to perform heavy lifts and don't even have an understanding of what working hard actually feels like. Bodybuilding routines work really well for advanced roid monsters who push themselves with psycho intensity for hours on big boy plate loaded Hammer Strength machines that you find in warehouse gyms. They don't work well for the inexperiencced natty in an Anytime Fitness who cant even squat or bench 2 plates for one rep just milling around doing machine curl and seated cable row with pussy weight thinking that they're doing something. That dude would be 100% better off running Starting Strength or another beginner program and then at least a cycle or two of some intermediate strength program so he can actually learn some basic shit and not be completely structurely weak. Then he can run his brosplit or whatever and maybe make some real gains.
>I can't tell you how many DYEL guys I've seen in the past month doing 15lb curls. Liike really dude
It's called a drop set, genius.
You start with a heavier weight, e.g., 3*15 with 30lb or 35lb dumbbells, then after the last set, drop down to 25 or 20, then 15.
This is unironically the mindset of 90%+ guys you see in the gym that look like absolute shit and make zero progress after years of dicking around doing fluff """routines""" with zero intensity.

It's because SS got memed into being an aesthetics routine. It's literally everywhere that Starting Strength was made by Rip as a strength routine for his FOOTBALL players. As in, it was intended for functional, athletic performance...not for aesthetics. That's even why power cleans are in the routine; doing power cleans for looking good is fucking stupid, but it's a god tier exercise for generating explosiveness for sports.
SS is a good routine to get strong quickly like
True but there's some value in speeding up the amount of weight you can lift in such a short time then choose a different routine in like 3 months.
But this bro lifts baby weights and dropped the compounds that he didn't like as another anon said.
said. You quickly build a strength base, then you go to split-style routine like PPL for aesthetics.
pic related. SS is good for athletes like judoka who want to get stronger without overtraining and taking away from their sport.
I was with you up until >pic related. SS is good for athletes like judoka who want to get stronger without overtraining and taking away from their sport.
SS is for retarded american footbal mass strength, it's their version of sumo without it being actually respectable

Rippetoe double-talks by dismissing asthetics at times, while other times arguing that his style of training produces asthetic results: for example, here's him arguing ab isolation exercises are unnecessary:
https://startingstrength.com/article/abs
He also added chin ups and pull ups to SS, after previously saying either they were ineffective, or effective enough that they cut into your OHP recovery/progression, and either way weren't worth doing.
I think he also added them because of complaints about upper body neglect, and also so Rippetards could respond with: >pull ups and chin ups ARE IN THE PROGRAM!
whenever people bring them up as SS shortcomings, despite the reality that if you do SS with a single-minded focus of adding weight to the bar each session and eat in a big enough surplus, you won't able to do chin ups, let alone pull ups, because you'll be fat.
Pic related is a great example of the "pull ups and chin ups are IN THE PROGRAM!" BS.
How many pull ups and chin ups do you think this fat fuck can do after that?

i just dont get how this is possible... i put on not even 10lbs going from under 2pl8 to lmao3pl8

SS is for absolute beginners who don't even really know yet how to perform the big compound movements. Maybe 2 isolations added to it at the end.
They follow this for 3-6 months maximum to learn the compound movements and build the beginner strength and then they should do another split with more isolations
IST desperately needs an e-celeb board to contain the constant influx of streamer posts across the whole fucking site. Fucking sick of seeing this guy everywhere I go. Same with idubbz and sam hyde.
>IST desperately needs an e-celeb board to contain the constant influx of streamer posts across the whole fucking site. Fucking sick of seeing this guy everywhere I go. Same with idubbz and sam hyde.
It's a Starting Strength thread, not an eceleb thread.
The point is this guy fell for the SS+bulk meme, and got fat.

Would have still reached better results than 90% of gym goers get in their lifetime after a 2 month cut.
Is he actually intelligent though? I do not understand how a rational human being would be content with this level of (non)progress. I don't follow streamers/e-grifters so I don't get it. Wikipedia says he is a "streamer/plitical commentator," but he is a college dropout that quit his carpet cleaning job to stream videogames. Seems like another low IQ entertainer to me but perhaps I am missing something. Since Destiny is probably the guy that started this thread and is reading every response, I can only recommend that he take that youtube money and hire a pro to train him, hop on TRT, and ditch the fugly GF. Rich people have no excuse for looking like shit.
None of you retards know what SS is. I've been looking through the posts and I haven't seen a single person get the program right. Talk about the dyels leading the dyels.
Wait the pic on the right is before and the pic on the left is after? In neither picture is there any "gains" to be spotted but I really thought he looked much better on the right.
Is he suffering from some kind of genetic defect?
Hé doesn’t cook, orders food on stream all the time + redbulls while giving gym advice
Quite a few of them.
he has a 308 ml test
LMAO
at this point i would roid to get to natural levels
dude is is theorymaxxing but he has nothing to show for it
Yes, he's 5'4
Imagine being mugged by your own wife, worst type of cuck
He is actually doing SS, and has been for several years now.
I don't understand how anyone still gets memed into this program.
Isn't it recommended in the sticky though?
why is his squat and deadlift so low then
>why is his squat and deadlift so low then

because he's been doing it for a few months years ago, then stopped and has been doing it again only for a few months but inconsistently
also, iirc, he has turbo low test, but not too many downsides of low test (aside from turbo slow gains), so he's not gonna go TRT (which is good imho)
>he has turbo low test
no way
When he started he was weaker than most 10 year olds, eats garbage constantly and he takes 10-15 minute breaks to look at his phone between every set.

Rippetoe does intermediate and advanced programming too, in the Practical Programming book.
Which is specifically not called Starting Strength in the book.
I think he gave up deadlifting and overhead press. He squats 185 and bench presses 95.
He should just do his bull's wife's program at this point, he would probably see more progress.
Also while I don't care about deadlifting that much, following a program and dropping movements that you don't like seems really ridiculous to me.
No fucking way??? He probably only trains once a month, right? I refuse to believe someone can go to the gym consistently and not make more progress.
NTA, idk the numbers, but this is somewhat recent
I've honestly never seen someone make so little progress in over a year of lifting. He's going to hurt himself deadlifting.
>back bowing as he drops it
im a complete fatfuck noob to lifting but isnt that a bad thing/sign the weight is too heavy?
his gf is so annoying. why does he put up with it?
because she's hot and cute
as if you wouldn't fall under her spell to
shes pretty ugly, but i guess morons like you will fuck any blonde swede
I think you might be gay
maybe, ill ask my japanese wife what she thinks
no way fag. i'm stone-cold.

He's been doing it for around 1.5-2 years. He's also low testosterone but said he doesn't need more and feels fine.

He looks 130lbs at most.
He's probably following the standard roid chud diet of protein powder and peanut butter but without actually taking roids.
Terrible gains for a turbo manlet. He's lifting on easy mode and can't get shredded.
he is old and has test levels of 12 year old girl
He should have set a sensible weight progression limit and an max timeframe limit.
Then hopped to an U/L or PPL routine after he reached either.
Would have still reached better results than 90% of gym goers get in their lifetime after a 2 month cut.
Who fucking cares
His gf (?) mogs him in terms og gainz.
I'll say it, he got fat
He just got chubby
He's also a cuckold so his opinion is meaningless
