any tips on sleeping?

I've quit alcohol, cigarettes and drugs and i only drink one cup of coffee in the morning at the office with my colleagues before we start working
i work out right after work 5x a week
but i can't sleep more than around 5 and a half to six hours
this has been going on for three years now
I'm 30 and i don't use alarms because i know that if i go to sleep at midnight, I'll be awake at around 6AM
my gains are fine and my strength keeps increasing, i also have good energy throughout the day, even though i feel like there's a slump at around 1pm to 3pm
is this normal?
how can i sleep longer and recover better?
my mattress is really good and i can't hear any noise from outside and my bedroom is really dark
the room is cool and comfy
any tricks to sleep longer, or is it not necessary if that's just how my body works?
i used to oversleep and sleep all the time when i was younger but i felt more fatigue than i do nowadays
what are your sleepmaxxing tricks fit?

6 hours of sleep is pretty good. Get your thyroid checked you might have hyperthyroidism. Me personally I take Benadryl a few hours before bed and I have the best sleep ever.

      thanks, I'll do that

      >Onnit New Mood, 2 tablets
      >VitaFusion Melatonin, 10mg
      >Me Vale Madre, 40 drops
that last supplement was one my mom gave me, works like a charm every time. I sleep well and wake up well rested 7 hours later.

hey man if there's anything i can adjust with diet or lifestyle I'd do it, not a big fan of taking supplements
i only take creatine, and I'm unsure if it's helping or not

Ditch the coffee in the morning - replace it with decaf if it’s a social occasion. Caffeine can frick up your body for the entire day even if taken early

might ditch the coffee too, honestly
      will try that
the thing is, that without coffee in the morning i feel like I'm processing work slowly and most of our work is in the morning

Melatonin is intended only to correct jetlag and is bad to take regularly

I cycle it, only use it when I have a change in sleep habits. The other two I do take regularly.

        thanks, I'll do that

give them a try, the last one also works to reduce anxiety and stress, though you may want to half the dosage in that case. It’s a bunch of mixed extracts, nothing too serious.

    read picrel.
failing that, discover when your circadian cycles start and expose yourself to light and dark throughout the day accordingly. Go to bed at the same time every night. Avoid LED light and screens before bed. Workout mornings rather than evenings. I think you got the rest covered. Sweet dreams.

i used to work out in the mornings, but my schedule was forcibly changed since i rose in position in my office
now i have to be there early in the morning
I'll read the book you recommended, but I'd prefer a qrd or summary if possible

To be honest it's just this. I sleepmaxxed for months using supplements and being ocd about circadian rhythm and actually got to 8-9 hours of sleep regularly. Without placebo i felt the same as on my 4-6 hour average.

          yeah, i figured
i feel good all the time, except for the 2pm slump, but that might have to do with the morning coffee
I'll just cut out the morning coffee and see what happens, if nothing changes after a month I'll just keep living normally
no reason to worry i guess
this is now a pushup thread

tldr; what you already do + stick to a consistent sleep schedule (even on weekends), create a bed-time routine, and the light exposure thing. It also explores the effects of sleep (and lack thereof) throughout the animal kingdom.

thanks, yeah i go to sleep every day at midnight and wake up without alarm at around 6am
sadly i have the bad habit of watching YouTube on my phone or browsing here before i go to sleep
idk if the blue light filter on my huawei mate 10 pro is enough or if it even does anything
i should probably put the phone away and read a book before sleeping instead, shouldn't i?
