>anyone can achieve a 4plates deadlift in a year
>me? no I don't deadlift actually I took a break for a few months because of back pain and I have a long torso so I do dumbbell shrugs instead my physio told me to do lunges because of my knees and tight hamstrings and I had to deload and do flexibility work and-
the only moral sub 4plates deadlift is my sub 4plates deadlift

Is a year enough for the 1/2/3/4? That's good, I feel like a DYEL until I reach that benchmark

Ok I need to know, whats 1/2/3/4?

Each number represents the amount of plates on the bar for the 4 main lifts respectively: OHP, Bench Press, Squat, and DL

4 plates total? Or on each side of the barbell?

              Anonymous

On each side of the barbell, in pounds:
              135 ohp, 225 bp, 315 squat, and 405 dl
It's essentially just a general guideline for goals you should aim for as a beginner/intermediate

Yes I can. Frick that gives me a lot of motivation, I thought 1/2/3/4 was some god tier lifts.
I lift at home and don't come to IST a lot, so that's why I thought it was like the ultimate milestone

Frick off. 1/2/3/4 is hard and I've been trying to reach it for years. What the frick is wrong with me? Why can't I progress? Should I bulk more or what???

          Anonymous

yes bro, it gets so much easier on a heavy bulk. Frick the proportional strength meme, 1/2/3/4 at 220lbs is far more impressive than less than that at 175

            Anonymous

1/2/3/4 is for reps is a decent goal at 175. If you weigh 220 and are only benching 225 and squatting 315 then you should re-evaluate your life.

my point is that some people will never hit it at a low weight, bulk up and you can get it and go beyond
the 175 weight is high for most guys, I'm 6'3

This, tall guys in all cases except oddly-proportioned freaks will usually weigh more than the average homie when hitting the same weights. Everyone knows that tall guys can have good absolute strong but somewhat poor relative strength to bw

              >1/2/3/4 is for reps is a decent goal at 175
Wait wait wait does this mean 1/2/3/4 is very difficult at 145? I'm close to just fricking giving up on weight prs after a year and a half of slow progress, these past few months I've been focusing more on 10-15 rep volume style training because my ohp is stalled at 110 and my bench at 175 (for one rep)

a 4 plates deadlift at 145 lbs bw would be competition worthy

                Anonymous

Yeah, it would be quite impressive if you could at 145.
If you're not looking to compete as a sort of genetic freak there's no reason for you not to gain at least a few pounds, man. If you're eating only moderately above surplus with a good macronutrional balance most of it is gonna be muscle, and you'll put pounds on the bar much faster than you put pounds on the scale.

a 1 plate ohp in about 5 months of serious trianing as well.
4 plate deadlift in a total of 9 months.(first 4 months was fricking around with maxing out every time lol)

I got up to 385 in about 14 months, but snapped my lateral collateral ligament a little and took years to fully recover. I've never broken 3pl8 since then.

I fell from a horse. The next day my legs turned off and my spine was swollen at the base. imagine a scared bastard. It took 48 hours for me to start feeling my legs. I get around normally, but my back hurts constantly. I have a herniated disc. I can't do deadlifts, but I do pullups like a monkey. side note. do not abuse your vertebrae. having sex with back pain is no fun
