Anyone else noticed nobdy asks for a spotter anymore?

I have never seen anyone in my gym ask a stranger for a spot. I personally don’t need one but ive observed that spotting is dead in gyms. What gives? Anti social zoomers killing the culture?

I personally don't ask because i'd rather fail and have someone come and take it off my chest than have a spotter that touches the bar as soon as i struggle.

      >can I get a spot? Don't take it right away just give enough help to let me finish.
It's literally that easy except the real reason you don't ask for a spot is because you're terrified of talking to people face to face like every other zoomer.

Different anon, I've said this before to someone and they still help me right away on the first rep. Thank God I have a home gym now and don't have to deal with gains goblins.

      >ask biggest dude around for spot
      >tell him repeatedly to NEVER touch the bar no matter how much I struggle unless I say help
      >last rep
      >grind
      >spotter helps
      >say thank you with murder in my eyes
I'm going insane. Why the frick doesn’t every gym have safeties. It’s better in every possible way.

      >safety arms
You mean the things that prevent you from doing a complete rep because it stops the bar from touching your chest? I agree, anyone that uses these is moronic and should be banned.

You set the safeties just low enough so that they’re not in the way when you arch your back, moron. If you fail a rep you just lay flat and the safeties catch it.
Also way safer if you accidentally drop the bar.

I just set the hooks low and use my legs if I need to
There's never been a time when I couldn't get it the five inches up to reach a hook
I'm not gonna interrupt someone's day to babysit me

Never rerack if you don’t have locked out arms. One frick up and you drop the bar on your neck.

NTA, but unless you luck out with a perfectly set level, the safety bars will be set either below or above the point of contact with your chest, which means either they’ll be no help or you won’t be doing the full rep. Alternatively, if you’re not using safety bars, you could just not use the bar clips, so if you get stuck at the bottom of a rep you can tilt the bars and have the plates drop off in an emergency.

          Anonymous

The safeties don't need to be above your chest, they just need to be above your neck. You have all this space (more if you arch).

If you need a spotter your ngmi

Pain is the price of failure. Only when your life is on the line, when you can barely keep the bar above your chest from crushing you, do you get the burst of adrenaline needed to bust out that final rep

    And if you fail?

Then you didn’t deserve to lift it

Always been like that here. I have never seen anybody ask a random person to spot them. Seen a few times when somebody fails on the bench and needs help to get the bar up from the chest however kek. Though doing absolutely everything to not talk to strangers is our snowBlack person culture.

I almost never ask for a spotter because I’ve learned to use my legs to drive if I get in trouble. If you constantly need a spotter, you’re probably not going to be doing bench as often as you need to to improve. Also if you have a spotter, you’ll probably feel pressured to take shorter breaks between reps, which is not good.

It’s also possible that people are not asking you to spot them because you look like a dyel. People ask me to spot them because I’m large and usually benching more than anyone else in the bench press area of my gym. The other day I stepped on a woman’s hair while I was spotting her. I didn’t apologize. Everyone needs to get better at bench press. I almost never see anyone doing more then 2pl8.

If you actually knew anything about bench you would know you're supposed to brace your feet under you and push through them for the whole lift, not just when you're in trouble. It keeps your whole body tight.

I dunno about you guys but anytime I've failed a bench I've just rolled it off myself fairly easily. It hurts a bit but it's not that bad. I really don't know people could get into a situation where they're literally stuck, worst case scenario don't use clips and slide it off

This. Maybe if I was doing 1RM's and I was a powerlifter who is super specialized.
However I am not. I do sets 8 or more on a low incline so the bar easily rolls to my hips and up it goes.

They don’t. And neither do most of the people who work out regularly. They just do it once every two weeks and then complain they make no progress.

I never asks for spotters, but use the safety bar instead.

Yet, some still go in and "help" me for my last reps, and I have to tell them to not help me. It would be understandable if i was benching without safeties, and was about to get fricked, but this?

Can't really tell them to frick off either, as their intentions are good.

Put your bag where the spotter would stand, when randos come and move it out of the way to "help" you. Tell them to frick off and not touch your stuff. If they keep touching your bag. Put a big dildo in it and have it slightly peaking out.

Zoomers are all anxious para-socialites who are incapable of communicating with other people unless it's through the medium of the phone. They will never ask for a spot. However I have noticed they will always say yes to any reasonable gym demand because they have no spine. They act all insulted and offended that they have to spot you or let you use the bench in between your sets but they just do it anway.

    ong

Anytime people say "the youth are beyond repair" it's usually cap 100 but I really think zoomers are just going to keep overdosing on drugs, killing themselves and trooning out until there's no one left to reproduce that doesn't have a mental disorder.

An experienced lifter can pretty easily tell if they have another one in them by the bar speed of the previous rep.

Don't want an 'its all you bro' guy rowing the weight and can't be bothered to explain how to spot properly everytime.

most people don't know how to spot correctly, i asked once for spot and dude stole my 2nd last reps cuz he noticed i struggle to go up

The closest I ever got to failing a rep if bench to the point of dropping it on myself was in a moment of weakness I was distracted by the fact that a woman just before I laid down to bench leaned over to ask me if she could take some plate I wasn't using in that way where you can see down their shirt. I almost dropped the bar but I had a neat adrenaline rush that saved me. It really drove home just how careful I need to be guarding my virginity.
