Anyone else unable to lose weight despite hardly eating anything?

I only eat ~1500 calories a day and I’m 30 and weigh 250 pounds. The only way for me to lose weight is to literally not eat for days at a time. I’m simply not doing enough physical activity a day to warrant what I eat which is bullshit. My average food intake per day looks like this.

-Breakfast
>half a bowl of Oatmeal
>A glass of chocolate milk

-Lunch
>Either a lunch meat sandwich
Or
>8 Taquitos (small)

-Dinner
>Some form of meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)
>Rice or Mashed Potatoes
>Vegetables, usually Broccoli and Carrots

I do not drink soda, I ONLY drink water and have only drank water for 10+ years. I barely eat out or eat fast food.

    Ok, so eat less.

You need to be tracking your calories. Every sip of juice, every drop of oil. You're not losing weight because you're still eating too much and you're underestimating your caloric intake.

Any less and I’ll be starving myself. I’ll feel weak and sick. I’ve tried before.

It's normal to feel a bit hungry when you're cutting food. Are you tracking your calories though, actually? Again, you're probably underestimating how much you're eating.

Yes...that's the point. You lose weight by starving yourself and forcing your body to consume your fat stores.

Get your thyroid checked out. Also 1,500 is way too low. You want to cut 1000 calories per day max and at 250 using the simple 15 X bodyweight = 3,750 estimate method you should be doing 2,750 cal per day.

Here's what nobody teaches you. Your body can adjust to how many calories you eat.
The eat less thing is a lie. The body is efficient to work with what you give it. You need to cycle or diet like you'd cycle creatine. 3 weeks cut and 1 maintenance.
It's efficient for resetting your metabolism and kickstarting your body to burn off fat.

      Anonymous

It's thyroid or way too low. If you cut too low you naturally start to conserve energy due to thinking a new famine is on.
Should be doing 2,800 cal at the max. Also need to be accurate get a food scale and weight everything.

When you are eating at a deficit everyday your body is thinking that you are in a resource deficient environment and is therefore doing it's damndest to making sure you're functioning at the bare minimum, doesn't go into scooping from those energy reserves we call fat.

It doesn't matter. You will start shedding the pounds sooner or later, unless you're a miracle and can somehow defy the laws of physics.

yeah it's called a disregulated metabolism, the CICO tards don't realize your body will drastically cut CO in cases like yours, you'll eat 1500 and instead of losing weight you'll just have no energy and feel cold all the time
      these guys are right:

i think you should throw your body a curveball, start working in a weekly 36 hour fast or two

So if 1500 doesn't lose weight, then drop to 1000. If that doesn't work, drop to 500. Eventually you will cut low enough your body consumes its fat.

That's assuming that OP is actually drinking 1 cup of whole milk. It doesn't sound like he's tracking his calories or measuring his portions out at all, though. He could very well be having 2 or 3 servings of chocolate milk.

OP here, I drink about 4 cups of 2% milk a day. About 10% of the glass is chocolate before I stir so less than half a cup of chocolate is added to the glass.

            >I drink about 4 cups of 2% milk a day.
1 cup alone is 122 calories. 4 cups means you're drinking 488 calories in skim milk alone. Out of your supposed 1500 calories, almost 1/3 is coming from milk. The 10% of chocolate syrup you add is absolutely adding up to more calories, too.

I seriously, truly doubt that you're eating only 1500 calories a day. You're clearly eating way more.

    Two possibilities:

    A) you are not eating 1500 calories a day. Be honest with yourself. Its likely you're miscounting calories by either severely underestimating your portion sizes or leaving out additional calorie sources like butter, oil, syrup etc. With a sedentary lifestyle you would need to eat over 2500 calories a day to maintain your weight unless you have some severe form of hyperthyroidism which is EXTREMELY rare and you likely dont since youd likely be much heavier than 250lbs.
    B)
    >The only way for me to lose weight is to literally not eat for days at a time.
Have you ever tried to diet for more than a month? It is not possible to have accurate weight measurements over a few days. You should be weighing yourself every 7-10 days, natural daily weight fluctuations can make your weight jump several lbs a day. Eating 1500 calories a day you would lose about 2lbs a week at your weight, but its not necessarily gonna show on the scale cleanly.

Ok I ACTUALLY have this problem and I actually track all my meals INCLUDING cooking fats, sodium, etc. I'm 250lbs at 5'9, 30yrs old.
I eat ~1400 calories give or take 100 daily.
    I workout 5 days a week. 3 days weightlifting 2 days cardio.
I take the weekends off, although sometimes I hit the gym if time permits for a quick cardio sesh.
My lifts are steadily going up. Currently at a 275 squat for 5 and a 245 bench for 5. I don't deadlift because my body physically has trouble going into that position and I think I have short arms.
My daily macros are generally as follows:
    180g protein 20g carbs 60g fat
I eat about 1500mg of sodium per day. I drink around or above 4L of water per day(it's all I drink and I love it). However this FRICKING GUT does not go away. My bloods return all normal, no beetus, no issues with T or E2.
I did a moronic diet when I was in my early 20s. I ate barely anything. Like 2 chicken breasts and a cup of rice and a protein shake per day, while working out literally EVERY single day. Is it possible that I permanently fricked my metabolism? Idk bros. At my wits end.

no, but who cares? no one is gaining any thing meaningful while cutting. the entire point of cutting is to lose body fat while sacrificing some muscle mass. if you are obese, then losing muscle is the least of your worries

I don't see any of the oils you're surely using to cook those meat and eggs, chunky. you're not accurately counting. also, stop using servings on the package, and start weighing food by the gram.

im sure you must be trolling because of the chocolate milk thing but why isn't the chocolate on these? also why are you being such a fatass by eating 5 slices of bacon and 4 eggs every morning, that's the type of shit you eat on a bulk. and are you seriously eating just a pound of ground beef with some honey?? eat some fricking vegetables you disgraceful human being. if you're not trolling then your problem is that you're doing CICO with a fat mentality. stop being mentally fat and your physical fatness will cease.

                I'm not OP. I'm

                https://i.imgur.com/5hq1Xa1.jpg

                >5 slices of bacon
It's fricking giga lean back bacon what's the issue.
                >4 eggs every morning
wtf is wrong with 4 eggs lmao.
                >are you seriously eating just a pound of ground beef with some honey??
yeah whats the problem. CICO right bro?? Vegetables can suck my wiener for the time being I don't give a shit.
                >your problem is that you're doing CICO with a fat mentality
what does this mean? genuinely curious. How do I stop being mentally fat

it's not wrong macro or calorie wise but reveals a fat attitude. he wants to have his big daily fry every day while losing weight. Fair enough if you're keto or bulking but when cutting stick to some light shit. CICO works fine to a point but eventually you just have to eat like a healthy person, eat your veggies because a diet of chocolate, milk, meat and eggs isn't how a thin person eats.
yes i know that's vague and brosciencey but if what you're doing isn't working then you should try what works for everyone else. what skinny b***h on 1600 calories do you know that eats a pound of beef for dinner every day? broscientifically the explanation would be that his complete lack of micronutrients is causing his body to have a panic attack because the being in charge is clearly moronic but i prefer to just think of it as spiritual fatness overpowering his physical lack of energy.
I 100% guarantee that this diet is driving him to binge on a weekly or biweekly basis as well. being malnourished amplifies cravings and he obviously doesnt have the willpower to just deny those cravings because he's already fat.

it's incredibly lean thin cut back bacon. Not regular bacon. That is an 85g serving on MFP.

There are millions and millions of people who severely underestimate their calorie intake. Being that heavy on that diet and exercise routine is literally impossible for most people so its only fair to assume. If you're not lying, go see a doctor because IST can't help you.

First off it’s physically impossible to frick your metabolism in the sense that no matter how little you eat you will always be fat. Physics dictates that. No way around it. What’s likely going on is your body operates differently from most people in that your energy intake is conserved much more than normal. You have to slowly redux your daily caloric intake. Eventually your body will tap into your reserves which reside in you fat. Do keep exercising and do it with a good amount of intensity. That’ll speed up weight loss process. If I was you and all I wanted was weight loss I’d stick to all cardio and HIIT or better yet SIT. But weight training would be fine as well.

Get your thyroid checked. By not eating, also, you destroy your metabolism and transmute basically everything you eat into the most convenient storage- fat.

Don't eat until your stomach growls constantly. Clean, move furniture, etc, light physical activity. Only eat a proper portion, stop before feeling full. More veggies, more protein. Snack on leafy greens without dressing. Drink a ton of water. Cutting sucks, gotta mind over matter that shit.

I HOPE YOU SEE THIS, OP

You very likely have a hormonal disorder. Particularly, I would assume a high A1C, insulin resistance and/or low testosterone. Visit an endocrinologist and discuss this with them.
    I was the same way

    Story
    >be me, 240 lbs
    >consistently work my ass off for two years tracking every calorie and exercising all the time
    >in two years only able to get to 220lbs (20lbs lost)
    >take a break and stop for 3 months
    >240lbs again
    >see endocrinologist
    >verifies I have IR and low T
    >literally tells me I me and someone else eat the same meal I won’t burn the calories like the other person would
    >gives me pre-diabetes medication
    >feel satiated with little food, never hungry
    >3 months on medicine without counting calories or exercising, already down to 212 lbs
    >achieved more in 3 months with less effort than years of hard work and dedication

    It's fricking simple

    Do rolling 48's.

    2 days fasting

Third day eat your TDEE, DO NOT EAT AT A DEFICIT AS YOUR BODY SPENT TWO FASTING

    You will lose weight.

Hey OP, i'm around your age. (SW:195,CW:168,GW:150).

When I first started I cut my daily cals to a ridiculously low # like ~1k. I was making steady process until I stalled around 175lbs. There was no way I was going to cut even more cals off so I decided to take a few week's off instead and ate at 2k. When I started the cut again I was losing weight! Even below 175.

This might be "broscience" or whatever, but I feel like your body freaks out when you cut heavily and will try to hold on to fat as much as possible. The trick I found is to restrict, then eat normally, then to restrict again, then to eat normally, etc etc.

Worked for me at least, give it a try.

    >Anyone else unable to lose weight despite hardly eating anything?

Nah. I also ate 1500 daily. Started at 210 pounds. Got all the way down to 160 in about 6 months. Also exercised - mostly cardio.

There's something wrong with you. Either you're not tracking calories correctly or you have a disorder you need to see a doctor about.

    1. Skip breakfast to force body to consume fat for energy
    2. Engage in HIIT Sprinting/Stairs to engage fat afterburn effect
    3. Apple Cider Vinegar to help break down belly fat

This approach has worked well for me.

not really no. I ate @2000kcal for 6 months and lost 12kg to a gram meaning I was in a perfect 500cal deficit following the guideline of a 2500kcal maintenance.
during those 6 months i had days and weeks where my weight was higher than previous week despite eating the same but it all evens out in a longer time period.

it is scientifically impossible that you are not losing weight eating 1500kcal a day.

    >Rice or Mashed Potatoes
    same, empty carbs

just eat lean meat, eggs, fish, poultry, dairy, and some vegetables on the side
most of your micronutrient intake needs to come from protein
but anyway you are probably miscounting calories by a lot

    oatmeal
    >150 calories with just water and salt, otherwise more
    glass of chocolate milk
    > 410 calories unless the glass is really big

    lunch meat sandwich
    > 500-1000 calories: 200 calories for two pieces of sliced bread, or 700 calories if its a sub, 200 calories for meat, 100 calories for mayo and other dressings
    8 taquitos
    > 960 calories according to google, zero idea what this is

    meat
    > 2-300 calories
    rice
    >200 calories if its just half a cup uncooked
    vegetables
    >negligible

    total!
    >2020 calories and i was being nice

aka youre eating what an average active person eats. the bigger issue though is probably your activity level, how many steps do you walk per day? if its less than 3000 then youre completely screwed. do you do any lifting, or running, probably not.
