I had one of the early bone conduction headphones from this company. Bomb proof in heavy rain, almost daily use and they lasted many years. After 3 years one side would kind of buzz but I still used them for another year or two. Unless they've changed their QA or build quality I'm sure they'll serve you well. I still keep them in my work bag as a backup.
They do take a little getting used to, feels weird on the temples at first.
Thanks anon. The pro version seems to have better bass, but a lower (IP55) waterproof rating than the model down which has an IP67 rating. Shouldn't be an issue in rain though hopefully..
can the 'back band' bend/fold at all on these? they really interest me for cycling, so I can be aware of my surroundings, but I'd want to take them off and put them in a frame/hip bag on ocassion and it seems like they can't be folded?
i have the first generation model. it works surprisingly well. the audio quality is obviously not great but it is okay given what they are intended for.
No experience with the Pros but I’m wearing a pair of the regular openruns right now and I love them. As everyone states bass isn’t amazing but sound is good enough for me. They seem to handle wetness fine but they aren’t soap proof.
Also IMO you should touch the buttons as little as possible (had a set before this and the volume up / power on button got glitchy after a couple years, I leave my pair on all the time between charges), and when you take them off don’t let the speaker ends smack into each other (I think this helps prevent the rattle).
I have a pair right now, they fit well, sound alright, but the battery is good and they do exactly what they are supposed to. If you bike and run on roads a lot and need to hear surroundings, theyre worth it completely.
I returned the Pro because I could not lay on a bench without the band flexing or having it tilted at an awkward angle. Maybe the mini fixes this. Also, the Pro has tiny speakers which makes your music hearable to your surroundings; not something I'd like on the train.
I've swam in the ocean with the mp3 version. And the pro is great for normal shit. You won't be able to hear anything if there is loud ambient noise though (train, plane, etc). You can also wear protective ear plugs and wear them. I never tried this on a plane but I imagine that it might make them audible, while you protect your hearing.
Does the mp3/waterproof me also have these speakers

so it’s audible around you? I’m iffy both on constant Bluetooth to my head, as well as people hearing some of the stuff I listen to around me.
yes i have them and they are excellent. i prefer them over my in-ears almost all the time because i like to be more aware of my surroundings. they sound 70% as good as in-ears and are waterproof.
They're great. I personally enjoy being somewhat aware of my environment. If you're in a very loud place, they won't help you.
It's kind of like having a soundtrack to your life, but some people just thought that I had regular headphones on the wrong way.
They lasted me three years until the battery wouldn't charge anymore.
I always thought those kinda of earbuds looked stupid but after I started rooning with regular earbuds I see the appeal. Plus my sweat drips down into my ear sometimes and it really fucks up the fit. Slipping around and shit. Sweaty slippery earbuds. No thank you. Plus I have some good earbuds too so I don't want to damage them with excessive sweating.
If you're just using these for running they should work, but if you wanna use them in inside spaces, people will hear what you're listening to. The bone conduction is just a buzzword, and they're just speaker-phones. I like the bose sugnlasses versions tbh (better sound), but they're significantly more, and are sunglasses.
I personally use airpods with a silicone in-ear attachment with combined in-ear earhooks, and they work well, since they don't fully go into the ear.
i had some chinese bone coduction headphones. they were nice to use in the office to hear coworkers at the same time i was listening to music, but if you set the volume too loud, everyone will hear what you are listening, they let out a lot of sound to the enviroment

Don't think so anon, you can get hard cases for them though and the pro model comes with it's own hard case
You can just let it sit around your neck, it’s tight enough that it won’t fall off
They're perfect for cycling.

Yes but the waterproof earplugs that came with them helped.

What are some sound proof running headphones?

I have these, 10/10. Yes it'll hold up in rain but not wind, not because they'll fall off but because you won't hear shit
