i don't see how these are barefoot shoes. if anything they are more constricting since every individual toe is constricted

Toe shoes are unnecessary and it can be hard to find ones that fit properly anyways just go with minimalist shoes or thin soled sandals and go barefoot as much as is reasonable like when you're at home.

Not everyone is asian, here every house has hardwood and/or tile floors so wearing shoes indoors is normal for most people.

the reason Americans wear shoes inside is because not long ago they had dirt floors and needed to keep their boots on in order to ride their horse at a moment's notice. In my family we take our shoes off so as not to track dirt around the house, because our floors aren't already made of dirt.

I posted this question half a year ago, have been wearing 'barefoot shoes' (wide toe box, no cushioning, sole as flat as possible) ever since. Toe shoes are dumb, but the minimal/barefoot shoes actually fixed my walking pattern (no longer on my heels), my asymmetric calves (they will hurt for the first few weeks though) and my ankle mobility during squats. They are really comfy for hot weather too.

Also forced me to buy quality leather/faux leather shoes and to learn how to take care of those. I never liked those 'athletic' jordans, adidas' and nikes, they just look like children's shoes.

Nta but have you tried it? It might be a problem if you normally stomp like a drunk moron trying to imitate godzilla and expect your 3cm autism shoe cushion to save your feet, but otherwise it's fine.

We’ve been wearing shoes for thousands of years for a reason. Try wearing those $300 carbon plate running shoes vs barefoot shoes and do a 5k with each, no contest.

I prefer it. Lighter and quicker touchdowns. You can't slap the ground without it hurting because your form is bad.

        Anonymous

it definitely takes an adjustment period and I recommend running for short bursts on a track and then going back to walking
you will be sore as frick but your calves/ankles/feet will strengthen and your form will improve drastically
then you will run like you're meant to
also when you put on regular runners you can maintain that same form and run further/faster

I go hiking and now and then see people running barefoot which seems crazy to me. Those shoes would be a good way to ease into barefoot running.

Depends on your goals and your ability to commit. You can't really half-ass the transition to barefoot shoes. Your toes will start to spread out (as they're naturally supposed to) and your old shoes will become unwearably uncomfortable. So the real question is: are the foot gains worth it to you? They were for me because I'm autistic about my physical health, and my foot is part of my body.

Good shit, bro. I also took the barefoot shoe pill a few years ago, and I'm never going back. I love the feeling of having a strong, stable base. My feet were atrophied and misshapen when I was still wearing conventional shoes.

Good luck trying to run in those, especially on pavement or rocks

When you drop the paddwd conventional shoes, your feet are forced to perform their natural function and stabilize your entire body. They naturally grow stronger and tougher to the point where you can run on hard surfaces with no issues. The real problem with pavement running is the wear and tear on your knees. Realistically, you should be running on grass or dirt if anything.

they are great as second or third pair to give the foot a different stimuli. woulnd wear them as mainshoe and i did vivosbarefoot and 5 fingers for 5 years now.

You recommend rotating different pairs of shoes?

        Anonymous

yes. a foot who gets different stimuli gets more injury resistant

I wear minimalist shoes as my default shoe at my job that requires standing all day and it's made a shit ton of difference after fricking up my feet by falling for the crocs meme.

when you stand mostly and you dont have a flatfoot its okay obviously. but when you walk all day on concrete with barefoot shoes things can go bad after a while.

Toe shoes are fricking moronic. Go minimalist instead.
I lift in wide converses (technically minimalist and complement the gym fit) and do hikes in cheap minimalist shoes I got off Amazon. They're ugly as frick but on the trail nobody cares.
Wearing minimalist shoes sucks at first as it takes a week or two for your calves and feet to build muscle and make up in balance.
I don't run but I recently did a 12 mile day hike with 30lbs pack weight to condition for a longer hike in my new ugly Amazon shoes and it was totally fine.

How do you squat in Chucks?

        Anonymous

Honestly confused by this question. Like normal? If I want a deeper squat I put a plate or something under my heels (pic). I wear low tops to not inhibit ankle mobility

Why do this when you can simply balance on your toes?

  18. 4 weeks ago

Just get something with a low heel height differential or whatever they call it, and if you want toe freedom get the wide size.

Basically they are like old school moccasins.
A leather shoe made by almost every native American tribe since forever.
You should make a pair of nice moccasins from deer hide from Tandy.
Or else a cheap route is buy some Water shoes .
Same thing. No sole built up and flat.
I'm not going to spend hundreds or even 60 for barefoot shoes.
Moccasins or watersheds are nice and it may take a month to get used to them but you will definitely get stronger ankles and your mobility will improve as you progress.
Try going barefoot as much as you can also.
    T. Had fricked up tendinitis and could not walk without blinding pain for a few years and finally threw away my running shoes with high cushion.

    Definitely try it out.
But know that you need to ease into it if you barely are barefoot already.

You may need to retrain your striking if you want to run with them. Heelstriking running will destroy you.

I wish I had known about these shoes earlier.

Are they the secret to eternal youth and unlocking your full power and potential? No. They are just trying to sell you some shit. Are minimalist shoes worth a go for the sake of it? Yeah man give them a go. If you aren't used to a lot of barefoot walking or running you'll notice a big difference, but if you do a lot anyway you might not notice that much of a change. I've a pretty big bit of land with woods, hills, vegetable gardens and lawns and stuff and I am mostly barefoot outside and inside and I don't find a massive difference, but for friends they basically trained their calves. I wear them on the beach, when wild swimming, at the pool, when outside and wanting the extra protection, to the shop, to pick up my kid etc, but I don't wear them to work or to the gym or for anything serious, just for the frick of it as an option. I sometimes like the extra tactile sensation of walking in them. The individual toe thing? Ehh. Just get some wide toe box, minimalist shoes with zero drop. See what you think yo.

They feel very strange to wear, especially on uneven ground. The muscles along the outer edge of my feet, which seem to control the pinky toe to some degree, were very sore after a long walk in them.

the barefoot shoe meme should have died 10 years ago, I can't believe you homosexuals still think it's some type of forbidden knowledge or something
yeah your normal everyday walking around shoes should preferably be flats, but if you're a rooner then you're much better getting some actual rooning shoes, just stick to the ones that are for "neutral" feet and figure out which ones have the lowest heel drop. Barefoot running is moronic but it HAS impacted the running shoe industry over the last decade since every company tries to make shoes as lightweight as possible now with emphasis on encouraging a natural foot striking pattern. heelstriking is a woman meme, if you're not moronic you'll figure out how to land lightly on the midfoot as you improve anyway
