Yes. I taught English in South Korea to elementary school kids and they all had the beefiest God damn calves, way bigger than mine after years of hammering them. Literal fifth grade kids calf mogged me.

Big calves are 50% how much you work em and 50% genetics. Cycle a lot.

No and anyone who says they are is a lazy homosexual. They need a shit ton of volume to grow and they're not fun to train like chest, shoulders, and arms so people only do like 3 sets per week for them and then cry on the internet. 5x15-20 calf raises with drop sets every set in the same rep range. Follow up with seated calf raises with the same set up. Do it 3+ times per week. You'll have huge calves.
Only other ways are lots of rooning on the hills, mountain biking, or getting fat and going for a lot of walks

I do calf raises 5x25 55lbs, 5 days a week, and jump rope for 8 min once a week. It might be because I am 160lbs but my calves still look small.
Jon Jones does even more work and his calves are even smaller than mine but he lifts significantly bigger weights than me.
Calves are one thing that just doesnt make sense

Max incline walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes a day. You’ll get meaty calves after a month

Yes. I’m the strongest I’ve ever been and tripled my calf training volume but I still can’t overcome my sephardic desert israelite genes.

I've been fat for nearly fifteen years, so I have massive calves. I've lost 30kg over the last year, my thighs have shrunk a lot, but my calves are at the same size. If this keeps up they'll be like 80% the size of my thighs. Is that normal?

No, but you will look aesthetic, big calves > big quads

Yes, that's optimal. If you continue losing weight though, you're looking at a fast and rapid decrease in calf volume.

The solution to calf preservation is proper intake of protein during your weight loss journey. Muscle milk works better than anything else I've tried, one in the morning and one at night. I recommend the banana flavour.

I'd say like 60%. Most people just don't train them hard enough I think

Someone commented once that my calves were big after wearing pants all year and one day, suddenly wearing shorts. But calf mogging is kind of sad and makes me not want to wear shorts.
I've got thick tibula relative to most people and I'm glad I don't have chicken legs.
The calf itself isn't huge, but I'm glad I've got some calf genetics. Used to be way bigger back in the day, but I atrophied them being a depressed hikikomori for 2-3 years.
But even back then, I didn't really train calves.
    I think it's almost 99% genetics.

I have been fat my whole life and I mog everyone with my calves. The fact that I never ran away (get it?) from walking everywhere probably helped a ton. They are the only muscle on my body that actually pop out instead of being hidden under a layer of fat.

being fat already makes you not mog anyone. You can't just have 'big' calves and be a fat piece of shit and be like "Ha ha! I mog you!", the absolute fricking cope of the obese.

never met a runner without sick defined calves, I'm convinced it has everything to do with volume and stress. You're not going to get that with regular weight room type exercises. You just gotta fricking run.
