Are hypertrophy programs a meme?

I came across a pirated copy of Renaissance Periodization’s Male Physique Template. Im a former power lifter but I really want to look good, you know? But Jesus Christ, it’s so weird seeing a routine without heavy singles or triples.

I just want to be aesthetic, bros. I have small arms and a big core. But is training for hypepertrophy really going to build more muscle faster than for strength?

    This is you right now bro. A good bodybuilding program is made to get you huge. Heavy singles and triples like in your powerlifting programs aren't going to make you big and trying to shoehorn them in is a waste of your time right now

      Just do a powerlifting program with “vanity muscle” accessories for high reps. You won’t ever be satisfied with a bodybuilding program, you have the same big number get bigger mentality that I do.

      German volume lifting, pick a few skills and work through them, you'll gain muscle and maintain some strength.

      Anything that brings you to muscle failure but is 5 reps or less rather trains your nervous system than making your muscles bigger.
      If you still want your heavy set you can alternate your training sessions. One micro cycle you to heavy low rep sets and the next one you do slightly lighter sets with more reps (going to muscle failure with 8 reps is already enough).

      Thanks for the info guys. I have a final question. I’m currently starting an 8 week cut to drop 10 or so lbs. i want to get as lean as possible before bulking again. Should I switch to hypertrophy style training for the cut, or just do my usual 5/3/1 routine.

      If your curious, it’s 5/3/1 AMRAP set followed by 5X5 @ 80% of training max of an “opposing” movement, and then 100 push, 100 pull, and 100 core, reps of accessories

      What will give me peak strength and endurance.
      So maximum amount of weight with stamina to repeatedly lift it. Don't care about size, in fact being more light weight is better.

      If thats the case then why would OP have a big core and legs from doing sets of 3 lol? He just needs to work his arms and back which get neglected from training for powerlifting.

    Yes.
    Just do your normal lifts but in 5-10 rep ranges then throw in a bunch of isolations on top. If your arms suck then you make that a priority and hit it 2-3 times a week.

    The entire point of heavy singles is to get stronger without putting stress on ur muscles, if your goal is to build size, you want to put stress on your muscles on every set.

    If you don't do any strength work yes
    If you do junk volume as a natty yes

    I recommend going for either full body 3x a week or UPPER/LOWER 4x a week. Do some heavy compound then some isolations. Don't keep adding sets and reps with laughable weight, it will frick you recovery, stall your progress and give you 0 gains.

    If you roid you can do pretty much anything tho, just do some crazy volume workout and eat a lot
