the catch is they taste like shit and are filling, meaning you cant eat a lot of them. rice can be chowed down more effeciently. if you're a starving farmer though, oats are good.
Oats are delicious anon.
The only catch is they take longer to prepare than the others.
They take a while but are incredibly simple to prepare, boil then soak for a while or just soak overnight
>The only catch is they take longer to prepare than the others.
Are you a dunce?
Oats - bring water to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes.
Rice - 20 minutes in rice cooker, or simmer for 40
Honestly the only problem is rice can be eaten a few days later so is better side for meal prep and also you can just add so many things like hot sauce or soi sauce to rice but for oats it's just cinnamon.
Wouldn't it be crazy if someone posted other stuff too add to oats haha?
I eat make myself a bowl of oats every morning. My goto recipe is:
50g oats
10g chia seeds
Some cinnamon or 10g cocoa
Chop half a banana (full banana just overwhelms everything...)
Teaspoon of peanut butter
Teaspoon of honey
Experimenting with random berries to add to the bowl. Strawberries are OK.
This is almost exactly what I do. I leave it in the fridge overnight instead of simmering them, I like this combo cold and I have a terrible habit of running late in the morning
>fridge overnight
I tried doing this with almond milk, it didn't taste well. And I like it warm.
Just add some water and let them soak for like 5 mins
I dont understand.
It literally takes less than a minute to put oats to a bowl and then pour milk over them.
>taste like shit
It's fuel, it doesn't need to taste good. At most I'll just add a banana.
>longer to prepare than others
I buy a big tub of oats each week and make double the serving size each time (300 cals) in the microwave, takes 2 mins.
have you dumb fricking Black folk never heard of porridge ? just mix oats with honey and milk and cook it a bit
> just mix oats with honey and milk and cook it a bit
> just mix this inedible shit with something that tastes good
Yeah you can do that with shit as well.
> NOOOO MY le anti nutrinos!!
Meme
I can't believe people like you are giving advice here
>yeah dozens of high-profile scientific research articles written on that subject it's just a meme
>anti-nutrients don't exist because i've never heard of them
Can you stop posting forever please? Here is a giant research article with the part about tannins specifically highlighted.
>Impact of Antinutritional Factors in Food Proteins on the Digestibility of Protein and the Bioavailability of Amino Acids and on Protein Quality
https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/british-journal-of-nutrition/article/impact-of-antinutritional-factors-in-food-proteins-on-the-digestibility-of-protein-and-the-bioavailability-of-amino-acids-and-on-protein-quality/052B66B8F1BA8DBBCEE94E3607A63402
>Dietary antinutritional factors have been reported to adversely affect the digestibility of protein, bioavailability of amino acids and protein quality of foods.
>Examples of naturally occurring antinutritional factors include glucosinolates in mustard and canola protein products, trypsin inhibitors and haemagglutinins in legumes, tannins in legumes and cereals, gossypol in cottonseed protein products, and uricogenic nucleobases in yeast protein products.
>While tannins protect the grains against insects, birds and fungal attacks, this agronomic character is accompanied with reduced nutritional quality.
>It is well known that tannins are potential protein precipitants and they reduce protein and amino acid digestibility in animals fed tannin-containing cereals such as sorghum, and grain legumes such as field beans and fababean.
>It is believed that under optimal conditions, sorghum tannin is capable of binding and precipitating at least 12 times its own weight of protein
> lists foods that no one every eats
sure. But we were talking about wheat.
yeah bro nobody eats legumes and cereals
> legumes
you know if you keep them in water for hours and then change water - you get rid of all the anti nootrients right? People have been doing that for ages.
Cereals are kinda moronic but if you just buy some oat cookies you're fine cause it's so processed.
>you get rid of all the anti nootrients right?
no
you get rid of most of them, not all of them
reason why every single human shits their guts out eating even just 30g of protein from beans in one sitting
I sometimes eat a 500g jar of beans in one sitting and I'm totally fine. Dunno man, seems like a (you) issue
people get used to feeling like shit
just look at vegans
but I feel fine and certainly don't get Da Shitz
You only get rid of some % of some anti-nutrients. You don't get rid of most of them. Not even close. It's a myth and it's easily checked with 5 seconds on google and ctrl + F.

????????????? what the frick are you talking about?
look at the picture I originally responded to morono
Your English is terrible and you are wrong.
Do you eat meat without spices? Cooking is mixing things together to taste better. That's the whole point.
Porridge is disgusting. Gulag slave food.
>wheat is filling
I wish.
Only marginally better than wheat according to your chart. I'm on my cut rn so idunno if the 3 grams of protein are worth the 50 calories. That's like a whole handful of cashews right there anon.
wheat causes too much inflammation
Wheat takes way longer to grow, and more more man hours to process if you are growing it. Also, Oats can grow later/earlier in the season than wheat. Stay aware, homesteader bros
all grains take way too much effort to rely on
just plant tubers and get some chickens
I dedicating a 1/4 acre to home brewing.
Planted some aloes for mezcal. Getting some select wild apples for cider, cherries and six types of hops. The liquid carb diet is king.
Oats are junk food that is used as discretionary calories by poor people as an alternative to rice. There is nothing nutritional about them and they will cause digestive issues if you eat too much. Can't believe gymcels are still fixated on that crap.
plant protein is shit
How to prepare Oats in a way that aren't shit?
make them with milk
add peanut butter
some salt (it's actually really important)
and find a topping you like, there's lots of choices: honey, chocolate, fruits, nuts
They're too chewy and flakey like that
add more milk.
You gotta heatem dipshit
I just leave in the fridge with milk and fruit overnight. Delicious filling breakfast
I get instant oats, mix with enough whole milk to cover them. Microwave for 2.5 min. From there add whatever you want, I usually put in honey banana and cinnamon with a little salt. Comes out great and is easy, easy to clean and cheap.
soak for 2-3 hours
add peanutbutter and banana
You have to ferment them to make them digestible
Also
>dumping oats into your bloodstream for some reason
NGMI
The trick is not cooking it in milk, it wont be smooth because oats cant absorb that much water from milk. Cook them in water together with dessicated coconut for 3 min and at the end add honey and milk, mix them in, cook for a min more and done. I usually put some ginger-orange marmalade on top. Can wolf down 100g of oats-50g dried coconut-50g honey and splash of milk in under 5 min. Great bulking food and tasty. I wasnt able to eat even 50g when i cooked it in milk or just soaked them, pure shit that way, chewy and just bleh.
Ive just recently been eating these prepackaged kodiak cakes oats, its the first time I enjoyed eating oats
>Instant oats
>Milk
>Scoop of protein
>90 seconds in microwave
E z
>oats
>milk
thats it, and I don't mean soaking them overnight
youre all pussies
Jokes aside, I want to get other carbs than wheat/bread because inflammation . So far I'm at rice and buckwheat, but I'm curious how's oat.
Oats, buckwheat, rye and lentils. Get unprocessed kinds and cook them yourself. Learn to bake bread, portion and freeze. If you layer them inbetween sheets of cooking paper you can extract a certain amount of slices from your freezer and toast them.
convenient, anti-inflammatory and rich in fiber. Make sure to balance this carb rich food with fatty and protein rich spreads instead of jams, deli meats and other no nos.
on another note, have you tried adding buckwheat to soups and salads? its fricking great ill tell ya. Norwegian tradition
Good for fattening up your animals or for times of feminine but not really the resist capitalism superfood that rich people have convinced you it is.

>oats

My grandpa laughs at me when i eat oats for breakfast he says anon is eating horsefeed
Your grandpa sounds like a moron
Why do oats with milk give me such bad heartburn lads?
> oats
Literally impossible to fricking eat. May as well be trying to eat minced feather or solidified desalted pig shit.
> rice
ZERO FRICKING PROTEIN. YEAH, 7 = 0 BASICALLY. Insane that morons actually eat it
> corn
slightly better than nothing = almost nothing
> wheat
The only good grain to eat.
200g - almost enough to get your dose of protein for a meal.
>The only good grain to eat.
Wheat is pretty much the worst thing you can eat. Nutrition is more than just calories and macros.
post body
My body is irrelevant. I'm not some sort of bodybuilding freak.
what should i eat for carbs if these are so bad? potato, sweet potato?
S Tier: Fruits & Honey & Squash
A Tier: Rice & Sweet Potatoes
B Tier: Potatoes
C Tier: Bronze-Cut Pasta, Sourdough Bread
F Tier: Quinoa, Brown Rice, Barley, Oatmeal, things like that
That's just off the top of my head, did I miss any major food groups?
Ok, thanks! Any particular rice? or just white
Any white rice will do. You just want to avoid brown rice because it has the husk of the plant which means it has more arsenic and other things you generally want to avoid. Also your carb intake should generally depend on how active you are. There's no need to eat the same amount of rice on days where you're lifting a lot versus days where you're taking time off because of work or whatever.
Corn deserves better than to be placed in F.
Not at all... corn provides 0 nutrition and is all around just a really bad food. Anyone who stops eating corn will instantly have a better diet, so it goes in F tier. I guess corn tortillas could go in C tier.
That's not true, my ancestors thrived on corn. I'm not saying that it's on the same level as meat or dairy, but it deserves better than to be placed with oat and wheat, because at least corn isn't outright poisonous.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-grain_experiment#The_experiment
Your ancestors absolutely did not thrive on corn. I'm assuming they were Mesoamericans. When Mesoamericans switched from hunting to agriculture (i.e. when they ate less animals and more corn), they instantly lost 3 inches in height, had weaker skeletons, more cavities, and more scars on their bones.

>Your ancestors absolutely did not thrive on corn. I'm assuming they were Mesoamericans.
No, Mohawk, and they were pretty fit. Taller than Europeans on average.
>When Mesoamericans switched from hunting to agriculture (i.e. when they ate less animals and more corn), they instantly lost 3 inches in height, had weaker skeletons, more cavities, and more scars on their bones.
That's true for any plant-based diet, not just corn. Again, I'm not saying corn is as good as animal products, I'm just saying it doesn't deserve to be F tier.
Jesus Christ the schizo shit on this site is out of control.
The catch is that they can get you constipated if you eat too much, and you may not want to eat a grain that is that satiating if you're aiming to bulk. Other than that, probably the overall best of the four up there.
A teaspoon of brown sugar won't kill you lads. That's just 17 calories and it makes oats taste 100x better. Add some peanut butter and cinnamon and it tastes great.
>grains
>seeds
>processed sugars
>tree bark
What the frick are you doing? Just eat normal human food like meat and fruits. Have a cup of cottage cheese or something.
I like my plants in the morning
Eating those plants is silly unless you are a monkey with a huge gut or a ruminant with a multi-compartmented stomach. You would be much better off eating satiating and actually nutritious foods like meat and fruits and dairy.
I don't know man. I think you're a weird primal diet guy trying to say eating oats is somehow unnatural.
I don't know what you don't know or how what I'm saying is unclear. Let me be as specific as possible because you seem confused.
I am making these following claims.
1. Grains, seeds and processed sugars are not satiating and are not nutritious.
2. Fruit and dairy are satiating and nutritious and would be much better breakfast than a goyslop meal of peanut butter with sugared oatmeal.
Compare a goyslop meal of oatmeal, sugar, and peanut butter versus a meal of whole yogurt, 1 banana and 3 eggs. Which meal do you think is more nutritious? Which meal has a better calorie:satiation ratio? Which meal is goyslop and which is human food?
I don't even know what "primal diet" means but to me this seems extremely obvious, but then again I used to eat oatmeal and peanut butter, too.
Personally I find oats extremely satiating, I don't feel like eating for like 4 hours afterwards. I'm not a dietician and don't know the numbers on your alternative breakfast, except that my guess would be that it's way higher in fat and protein and doesn't sound as satiating tbh. I like having a heavy carb meal in the morning, works best for me. I track my nutrients in chronometer and I'm never deficient.
>my alternative breakfast
>eggs yogurt and fruit
You must live in the suburbs and you must never have traveled before.
I just meant alternative to mine, not "alternative" as in bizarre. I've travelled plenty, thank you. I know Europeans eat cold cuts for breakfast. It's not my thing.
You talk like you don't have a dad. You should work on that, it's really annoying.
You're a weird guy.
I would rather be weird than closed-minded and arrogant. I'm lol'ing at you starting the conversation with "I think you're a weird primal guy" and then calling my extremely normal food suggestions "alternative" and then saying you meant it in an ESL sense like you didn't grow up speaking English your whole life in the suburbs with no dad.
Try a little harder.
Alright m8, explain to me how my usage of "alternative" was ESL. I called you a weird primal guy because you claimed that I needed to be some kind of hindgut gorilla or ruminant to eat cooked oats. I mistook you for a primal diet guy, who say similar things. Now you are accusing me of not having a dad because I maintain that I'm happy with my oatmeal breakfast. Pretty weird behavior, I think I was right to call you that.
I'm "accusing you" of being an annoying, arrogant person who lives in the suburbs with their mother (only). No one said you "need to be a gorilla to eat cooked oats." No one is accusing you of not having a dad because you're "happy with your oatmeal breakfast." You are an extremely disingenuous and rude person.
"Alternative" has been used as a pejorative for the past 3 generations. You know that. I know that. You are using a literal dictionary definition because you are a bundle of sticks.
I don't know what your confusion is. Maybe you're only used to hearing the word alternative used to describe rock stations and girls who wear a lot of mascara, but I didn't use it in any unconventional way. I find it funny that you're accusing me of being arrogant when you think you can tell, of all things, my living situation and whether or not I know my dad based on a discussion about oatmeal. I don't know anything about you except that I think you're posting weird shit.
Oh, no wonder you don't know "alternative" is a pejorative, especially in the way you used it. You literally are just too young. Well when you become older than 16, you'll learn that people who grow up a certain way write a certain way.
Well I don't want to argue with a little kid anymore, it's kind of a waste of time. I ate oats when I was 16, don't worry. I also ate tons of spinach from 18–20. You'll learn, hopefully. Or maybe you won't. Probably it depends on whether I'm right about your (lack of a) dad or not. Anyway, best of luck in life. Remember you don't have to go to college, especially if you don't know what your future occupation is gonna be.
lmao. C'mon man. Right after you got done calling me arrogant and rude you are now literally talking down to me and calling me a child. Frankly, your stubborn refusal to acknowledge that I used a common word in a common way seems more childish. It's literally the first definition, meaning the most common one. I have never seen anyone read insult in the word "alternative." But you have the right idea, let's stop talking to eachother.
oats are delicious and make for perfect poo
>1 (dry) cup oats
>1 (dry) cup rice
>1 can beans
>half gallon milk
>quart OJ
>1oz sunflower seeds
>1 bunch leafy greens
every single day. find a flaw
>oats
terrible carb source
>rice
herro me like rice
>beans
homie this shit isnt a complete protein and literally leeches nutrients from other food u eat
>milk
based
>OJ
good carb source, quart is excessive
>sunflower seeds
full of pufa, inferior fat source
>leafy greens
literally toxic, full of fiber and other things that are best avoided
>oats
manganese is a neurotoxin
Oats are delicious, easy to cook and high in protein.
>eating animal feed
Stop eating grains, moron
>Corn beats rice protein-wise
Ummmm, what the frick? Rice sisters, are we moronic?
This has always been the case. Rice is more or less pure carb and very easy to digest. Unless you do a lot of intense exercise you probably have no business eating it.
Best way to eat oats in the morning, 4 scoops of oats in blender, add regular cow milk, add scoop of protein, blend, drink
best way is to feed it to an animal and eat the resulting meat
The feed them grass to grow meat, they fatten them up on oats before slaughter because a heavier cow costs more
the catch is that the b-vitamins and actually useful stuff in oats is hard to digest without soaking them in some kind of acid (yogurt), also way too much fiber to be a real staple carb. I'm sure people can adjust to it but it seems to go again the grain to have a lot of it.
Rice is almost prefect for a staple grain because there's no fiber when polished (white rice), it's easy to digest and it doesn't really have a lot of micros. Why I'd argue that's a good thing is because you're not planning around micros you're probably not getting. It can also be fertilized by migratory birds. Geese poop in the paddies when migrating, the simmers itch microbes multiply in the stagnant water. The paddies dry killing the microbes and creating a fertilizer bed for the next year. This is very useful for not having to cart fertilizers and mining biproducts around. The downside is rice is not drought resistant. Wheat is drought and pest resistant but gets infected with molds in moister climates.
Im not going to keep a goose around to shit on my rice when i can just eat oats
migratory geese, cranes, herons, swans, ducks if these water patches are there when they migrate they're usually come back year after year with their young. You don't have to keep any of them you just have to make them feel like it's safe to stop there. You aren't just tilling a field you're manipulating an ecosystem.
Yeah nah anon, best I can do is a few metric tons of pesticides and a year's subscription to our new Ryce™ line of genetically-enhanced seeds that produce their own feaux seagull shit.
>designated shitting air taxiways
I stir about 1/3 of a cup of quick oats into greek yogurt with walnuts or sliced almonds, frozen blueberries and top with cinnamon. I have this most mornings.
are oats good if you let them soak in almond milk overnight then eat in the morning?
Oats and almond milk are both pretty awful foods... why don't you just eat real food?
Oats have the highest density of pesticide residue for very little nutrients. They're meant for horse feed and the only way to make it edible for humans is through extensive, industrial processing. None of this is ketoschizo shit this is all observable fact.
>3/4 of randomly tested, off the shelf oats products had unsafe levels of glyphosate
>1/3 of "organic" oats products also had unsafe levels of glyphosate
https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news-release/2018/10/roundup-breakfast-part-2-new-tests-weed-killer-found-all-kids
It's shilled so much as a health food by marketers. There's objectively nothing healthy about it in fact the only thing I notice vegans focus on when mentioning oats is how it has "fiber" (cellulose is not a nutrient) and that it "lowers cholesterol" which actually means it also lowers HDL which is bad. It's malnutrition.
Sick of this marketing shit being treated as healthy. No healthy nation consumes oats, they eat rice or even pasta instead. This is exclusively consumed in heart disease hotspots.
Doesn't organic mean no pesticides? How does glyphosate end up on it?
They lie and then say it's just "cross contamination" or whatever.
I highkey thought oats were wheat lol
