are some people just naturally more able/comfortable at a certain bf% than others? If so why?

are some people just naturally more able/comfortable at a certain bf% than others? If so why? I ask as it's fricking hellish for me to go over 15% with the amount that I need to eat, and my general attitude is much worse when I need to stuff myself constantly as opposed to me currently around 10-12~% where I'm comfortable. this is a major pain in the ass when I'm trying to bulk up for strength gains and it just makes me miserable

Your body gets used to different weights. If you want to hold a higher weight/bf % you need to eat enough to maintain it until your body adjusts to it. It may feel uncomfortable for a while but you will get used to it.

I agree with this. It's maybe a little broscience but I have definitely heard others say this, too. For me I always feel like if I don't keep the gained weight long enough I just tend to lose it and end up at my previous weight, to create equilibrium again so to speak.

It's not really broscience. Your body tries to maintain a certain homeostasis by up and down regulating hormones. Insulin resistance in fatties is a common sample, but there's 100s of other hormones and hormone receptors that haven been trained to keep you at your current body composition.

is correct. The pituitary gland sets the tone by communicating with the hypothalamus. Eating, sleeping, and exercise habits have a profound effect on the amount and frequency of hormones they secrete.

Eat more. Figure out your basal metabolic rate and estimate how much you burn in calories. Lots of calculators on a google search for that stuff.
Then just eat more than that caloric expenditure. Ideally with protein consisting of 25-35% of the caloric intake.

How long does the period of total misery last when doing this? Is it a gradual change or will you start feeling significantly better after a certain period of time? I'm in the same situation as the OP and the most I could last eating enough calories was about three days. If I can at least get a sense of the light at the end of the tunnel it would might be easier to maintain, but in the thick of it, it just feels like you'll feel physically ill forever and left thinking "what's the point" no matter how motivated I was when starting

I wish I could tell you that you feel better quickly, but the thing is you don’t. You start to feel better very gradually and only notice that you do in hindsight or when you skip out of the habit and start feeling crappy. It’s a slow burn.
Make yourself a list of reasons why you want to do it and reference it when you feel discouraged. They can be anything from wanting to feel good to wanting to be proud of your discipline or even just wanting women to notice you. Remind yourself of those “whys” and pull yourself along. You’ll thank yourself in hindsight and when people start to notice, you’ll feel like a million bucks.

Thank you anon. I didn't think of writing it down, but I can see how that would solve the problem that thinking of the "whys" is harder when you're already feeling bad, so having them ready to remind me would take a little bit of cognitive load off of the process of getting motivated again

      This shit is kinda true.

I was a skellington for a long time. Then I gained around 30lb of muscle. Looked pretty good.

THEN stopped working out but never actually went back to being a skelletor. Evened out around 15lb+ of my starting weight for like 4 years. Look normal now. Not muscular but also not skinny.

Have been working out again recently and the general shape of my body is nice, just nowhere near as big and defined as before.

depends on ur appetite, if u're not a big eater u'll have trouble bulking. the opposite is also true, if u love eating u'll have trouble cutting weight and always be hungry. there's also something about ur stomach shrinking/enlarging if u eat little or a lot.

Yes, opposite side here. I was a 25% bf fatty until 20yo give or take, then I seriously leaned out, but maintaining it is tough work, even 8 years later. Never got used to it in a sense, I feel it in my hunger, it's hard to be satiated. If I had to follow "intuitive eating" I'd just fall back into bloat mode. On the other end I have a friend just like you who chomps down peanut butter to keep his mass. Now for the reason, the easy answer is just genetics, but I'm confident the way we eat and exercise when we grow up plays a part in it.

It 100% is like this. It's IMPOSSIBLE for me to get under 10%. I've been walking 12km/day and eating 1500-2000kcal/day for 8 months and I still can't see my abs

What do you mean? I eat 200g protein every day just like everyone says I should. How am I supposed to get cut if it automatically results in muscle loss as well?

Stop listening to morons. That whole cutting meme is the blackest moronest Black personest misinfo I have ever heard in my life Im so sick of hearing it.

My bench went from 80kg to 100kg and OHP from 45kg to 60kg for reps on my cut. I was 87kg and and dropped to 70kg. 17kg in a row straight up cutting hard deficit of 750kcal per day and I was able to lose all that fat and increase my lifts. People dont understand that stored fat = ENERGY. It is possible to RECOMP your body. The whole meme of losing all muscle and gains on a cut is from elite bodybuilders that are 6-8% bodyfat and they are cutting to 3-4% for show and they say that you can't gain muscle or strength on a cut. Well frick obviously no when you are at a extremely unhealthy and critical state. But if you go from 25% bf to 15% you absolutely can and should put on ton of gains even when on a 'deficit'.

I guess,I lost a ton of weight and losing more is REALLY fricking hard.
Bodyfat went from around 30% to 17% approx and I have tried to lower it for months, but its like
    >Lose 1-2kgs in a week or 2
    >Slowly gain it back
    >Rinse and repeat
Been like this for more than 2 months and I really try to lose weight

      Anonymous

Slow down the losing process and make it into habits. Replace sweets with fruits. Do more cardio. Make soda and candy an occasional reward.
Try to lose about 1-2 pounds per week (.5-1kg per week) and sustain it for the long haul.

Thanks anon, and honestly part of why I fail its related to sweets/candy,I eat them everyday but just a little, everyday Im like
        >Well looks like I have plenty calories to spare so lets eat a bit of chocolate
and then later in the day I also eat some other sweet, those 300-500 extra kcal are fricking me more than I think lol.
I think I will limit them to just the weekends.

          Anonymous

I think that’s a good start. I like to reward myself with some sweets on Fridays after dinner when I’ve successfully finished the week. I only let myself have sodas when I go out to eat. Both of those can make a world of difference compounded over time.
Also they mean more when you have them.
Also if you drink fruit juice, make sure it’s 100% fruit juice instead of the process stuff with added sugars. Some of those have as much sugar as a soda.
