Are these a meme or will they improve grip strength and forearm size? Are there better exercises?

but yes and yes
>IST
agreed, but only IST understands the need for man-hands
why wouldn't they improve your grip strength and associated muscle size? They also make a type where you can turn a knob to adjust the resistance.
And as for forearms, note that when you bend your wrist in or out, muscles flex on the inside or outside of your forearm, so gripping does not stimulate those and you have to do something else.
Woah
Yes they work. If you like them it's worth getting a good set. You want comfy handles because crushing hard plastic will be miserable for your hands. If you just want to find out if you like them, go to whatever chinkshit supplier you like. I got some at a dollar store that were OK after I trimmed off the knife-sharp plastic mold flashing.
picrel is better. Stiffer, stronger, whatever. The one's in OP's image are for teenage girls.
Dad was a real manly man, would always comment on how dainty my handshake was.
Every year as school let out he would shake my hand to determine how I'd spend my summer.
Every summer from 5th to 10th grade was spent cutting scrap sheet metal into strips with tin snips.
My hands grew strong and hardened.
FRICK this tool. It's one of the two reasons I hated doing HVAC
>be me
>14
>uncle owns a heating and cooling place near my parents house
>really a family business
>my mom works there, as well as a few other uncles, etc
>sometimes I go out on installs because someone can't come into work
.png
>most of the work is ezpz
>helping move AC units and fetching tools, etc
>uncle really wants me to get into le Family business
>trying to teach me what he actually does
>he's always frustrated
>"here Anon, just cut this sheet metal where I outlined, I will do the rest"
>how hard can it be, I've used scissors
>my child hands start cramping after like two fricking cuts
>too proud to be a b***h to my uncle
>by the end of it, every cut is super rough and jagged
>"don't worry you just need practice"
>actually moronic with my hands, can't seem to understand how to move the snips and squeeze at the right time to get a proper cut
>after maybe 50 installs over 3 years, still can't cut a straight line to save my life
>feel like a prissy homosexual
To this day, whenever I see a pair of snips, I am reminded of my soiboi cuck existence. I am also very self conscious about my hands
>what was the other reason
diddling, of course
hand for context
>voluntarily and without being asked to, posting appendages to a thread where they just admitted to being self conscious about said appendage
Youre right, I think it may be the lack of strength Im self conscious about
Look at my hand. WITNISS ME
This, anon is confirmed hand prostitute.
I'm pretty sure the actual hand strength is in the forearm.
Guys posting hands is girls posting breasts.
If there's one thing I learnt from manga it's that female artists are obsessed with male hands.
try playing more video games. the musculature at the base of my thumb is noticeably bigger on my mouse hand.
Holy shit, I never noticed that
or more likely, you're right handed and your dominant hand will naturally develop slightly more muscle
your uncle told you about the red, yellow, and green handles, right?
It sounds like you were using the wrong tin snips lmao they're directional
Why isn't jacking off good enough for you OP?
Go for this model. Good scale of resistance. The top-end is pretty hard to keep squeezed shut if you're not an absolute gorilla.
YZLSPORTS has a 3 pack on amazon, good starting point. Then buy from a good brand like captains of crush once you've worked up to the "200lb". The YZLSPORTS's are not quite the resistance they claim, so start with a No. 2
yeesh bud
this
Seconded for Captains of Crush.
I got up to the No. 2, but I've been slacking so I can only close the 1.5. When I started Jiu Jitsu I could wreck most of the other white belts just coasting off grip strength for collar chokes and stuff. My forearms are also kinda juicy for being a small fella, but a lot of that had to do with working manual labor from 20-24.
That being said, make sure you get those little extension training rubber band things. The imbalances are no joke. I've gotta rehab my hands.
I have a set just like this but the cylindrical metal handles are hell on my hands. Do they make ergonomic slip covers for these or something?
>will they improve grip strength and forearm size?
Depends on how your grip strength and forearm size are when you start. If you're limp wristed and have the grip strength of an old lady, then yes, these things will help you. If you're already strong and have decent forearms, then no.
>Are there better exercises?
Yes. Grab a hammer and smash shit. Dealing with the shock and the vibration from the impact also helps a lot at strengthening your arms, and the compound movement will do wonders for every muscle and tendon in your arm and upper body, starting with your fingers and finishing with the pectorals and the muscles on your back.
HAVS moment
Obviously don't do it until you destroy your hands
That's what you think, because you never did rock climbing. Rock climbing makes your whole body strong, because you need strength in your whole body to do it. Imagine climbing a wall at a 45 degree angle with the ground (not the easy one that you can walk on, the one where you fall off if you let go) when the only strong muscles in your body are your arms. It's not gonna happen.
Rock climbing will make your hands strong but the rest of you will be a twiggy gaylet.
Barbell excercises are just as good for grip strength as a beginner and have the benefit of working out your whole body, deadlift, overhead press, bench press as well as chin/pull-ups will work.
When I go too hard with these, my thumb goes numb for a few days. It's pretty scary.
When you've tried the rest, pick the best
I've started using this after countless of wrist aches and pains and since then have never gotten real pain ever again. Wrist health has improved massively and forearms have considerable definition. I use 7kg, 3 sets of 4 in each direction. Multiple times a week
Build one of these things and combine with the other 2 devices if you are serious about strengthening your hands and forearms
I have one of these.
More of a "toy" than a "tool" but it makes my arm tired...
Which one do you get, IST?
I get the fat gripz instead because I am cheap and can't be bothered with that shit
>over $100 for a foot of spring steel and rubber
>almost $800 for the strongest one
why
it's probably in a currency other than dollars
Whoosh
even the heaviest one is b***h made, 140ish lbs isn't even equivalent to a captains of crush #1
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!!!!!!!
they will, but you need to use captains of crush to get a good workout in and get to higher levels (no one else makes as strong of grippers by far), and also you need to train extension of the fingers about as much as contraction or you'll get bad tendon issues, you do this by wrapping exercise bands around your hand and opening it or shoving it into rice or similar and opening it
Try milking cows. On top of improving your grip it also helps with control. And you get fresh milk.
