What's the purpose of going to the gym and building muscle past the minimum?
If we managed to be content with the body we have and just did as much exercise as necessary to keep healthy into old age, we'd have more time to invest in other pursuits.
Muscles don't actually help us with anything substantial, so what's the point of spending so much time and money in getting more than we need?
We could just be conforming with the media's image of masculinity, rather than doing what would be truly reasonable with our time.

either way we're all fricked so who gives a shit
>What's the purpose of going to the gym and building muscle past the minimum?
Uh, you get bigger and better (super useful) and the more muscles you have more testosterone your body makes
>more muscles you have more testosterone your body makes
I don't think it works like this
That is how it works. When you build muscle your body also creates the hormonal enverionment to support it - so more test
nah
Yah
If it wasn't so why would roiders lose their muscle once they get off cycle?
If there's no hormonal enverionment to support the larger muscles they shrink back down
That's why natty lifting takes so long by the way, your body is making many changes to support new muscle not just building it
>If it wasn't so why would roiders lose their muscle once they get off cycle?
Because they no longer have high levels of steroids in their system.
>If there's no hormonal enverionment to support the larger muscles they shrink back down
In a natural, muscles get bigger while testosterone stays the same.
>That's why natty lifting takes so long by the way, your body is making many changes to support new muscle not just building it
You don't need higher test levels to support new muscle up until you hit your natural genetic ceiling which is ironically determined by your natural test levels.
Then why do you lose muscle when you age homosexual, because your test decreases. For this reason many old fricks hop on trt. Becsause it helps you gain muscle. Thats why its better to start lifting young and also thats why its harder for older dudes to build muscle
>Then why do you lose muscle when you age homosexual, because your test decreases.
That's one reason. The other reason is that the cells of your body age and do not respond the same as when you are young.
>For this reason many old fricks hop on trt.
Most old guys get on TRT due to low T symptoms that are not related to working out. Many old guys on TRT don't even workout.
>Becsause it helps you gain muscle.
wow, increasing testosterone helps you gain muscle, what a reevelation
>Thats why its better to start lifting young and also thats why its harder for older dudes to build muscle
what does all this have to do with the (incorrect) premise that your testosterone levels naturally go up when you build more muscle
Im not the same anon, but when you lift, test in increased. Squats id the exercise that increases test the most because it works in the biggest bone of the body. more muscle on bone = more test
When you lift test increases. When test increases you gain muscle. So you have to gain muscle to increase test, and increase test to gain muscle.
Also your turn to post body. 190cm 85kg
please train back
Your turn to post back
Also legs
i literally can't see your lats from the front bro
The test increase from lifting weights is temporary, like for 1 hour which is nothing. Also cortisol goes up when squatting which negates the effects of testosterone.
The other anon is saying that the more muscle your build, the higher your resting average testosterone levels will be.
its fun
simple as. makes me feel good and I have fun.
i just train calisthenics for strength and eat whatever i want.
you guys are insane
I train calisthenics for longevity, good joints and bones, flexibility, agility, coordination, losing fat and stamina. I'm looking good too hwhehhe
Daily physical exercise is good for your body, mind, and soul.
The purpose is to be the best version of myself, and to mog others
i heard they can also give you heart palpitations
No we.
If you’re asking this question you aren’t us.
We do it because it’s fun. Until you stop looking for ulterior motivators it will be are YOU an NPC.
Actually I trained my self into an inhuman beast and now I run around the woods at night
If we managed to be content with the body we have and just did as much exercise as necessary to keep healthy into old age, we'd have more time to invest in other pursuits.
as if getting IST and succeeding in other areas are mutually exclusive and don't reinforce each other
forgot the meme arrow
Everyone is an npc including you. We’re automatic robots that think otherwise. There’s no logical possibility beyond magic that we exist as anything more than passive observers of something complex beyond all comprehension
>inb4 Christian larpers
>inb4 >ha t’is you who is the NPC! I am not an npc!
Stop being so insecure.
>There’s no logical possibility beyond magic
Bruh reality itself is magic. Explain to me how reality exists at all. It's beyond logic. It's magic
It’s not magic it’s just utterly complex beyond human comprehension like I said. If you think reality as we perceive it is magic I think that’s just an infinitely small slice of what’s possible and we happen to exist and perceive it; as just one of endless inevitabilities cycling on throughout eternity. It’s not possible that we even have the sensory organs to deal with almost any of it. We have 5 frickin senses. We can already prove that things exist which we don’t have senses for. Think what’s outside the scope of our possible ability to build tools to detect or decipher. It might as well be magic, but it’s not imo
>It’s not magic it’s just utterly complex beyond human comprehension like I said.
So magic then?
I mean I guess it depends on your definition of magic. Not all that long back indoor lighting powered by lightning shot through tubes would have been considered outside the scope of human comprehension. But it’s not magic. We may or may not ever develop the tools to understand it all. In my opinion it’s probably so complicated that humans will destroy themselves long before even scratching the surface so yeah, incomprehensible complex but not magic
lol maybe for you
>passive observers
yea my consciousness is totally a passive observer as I drag my corpse to work every day at 5am.
You do that because of an uncontrollable set of preconditions that have led you to do so just like everything you do. Just like me writing this comment to you or having this train of thought. Just by those preconditions leading to you replying to me you have irreversibly altered the rest of your known existence whether you agree with me or not. It’s too complicated for either one of us to nearly wrap our heads around but ultimately every single thing that came before or ever happened to you pre-decided what you did at this point and this action just adds to the pile of things that dictate what you do in future. In my book that’s not free will. You can live with the illusion but whether you believe it or not is already decided. Could change in the future or not depending on the path. I’m not trying to pseud by the way, I just find it fascinating. But if things had gone another way maybe I wouldn’t have found it interesting at all. It’s simultaneously very beautiful and sheer cosmic horror. What seems to be chaos via unknowable complexity. I think it’s just chaotic through our limited scope
nice picture saved
I don’t think you understand that insult
You're probably right

Magic is real
science is magic
My fricking god. Frick off derrida homosexual
>muscles dont actually help with anything substancial
Speak for yourself, Im ugly facially so I have to compensate by having a decent body. Otherwise people wouldnt treat me like a human being.
I'm goin got answer this seriously. No, npcs don't work past the minimum. Main characters go above and beyond. Example would be Rich Piana.
How are WE the npc's?
The NPC's of the world literally operate to keep me satisfied in life
Most of my products are built with cheap labour from NPC's. The NPC's work their monkey asses off to harvest materials for my clothes, my car and items in my house
Even on a personal level, my job pays well but doesn't even really have to exist. All because generations of westerners built the society i thrive in so I can spend more time on myself and my family
This, you only need to workout once a week full body to achieve a great physique.
Also, your test and GH levels will likely increase due to less stress on your body multiple times a week. Multiple times a week training is for roiders and competitive athletes.
You are just asking for injuries training so much. when you are old your shoulders and knees will be wrecked.
Training multiple times aa week is promoted because the fitness industry benefits the more times you use their products and services.
You don't even need to go to the gym, just do some calisthenics for free. You can build a decent physique with calisthenics.
interesting but i doubt it
so they got weaker and their plasma levels of those went up because they weren't being used up interesting anon
>so they got weaker
It was not significant in the main lifts.
Anyway this was for 2 weeks, you wont lose anything after 1 week.
>their plasma levels of those went up because they weren't being used up interesting anon
so such concept
>so such concept
yes because the suggestion was the increase->more gains but really it's no gains->increase. read the last line of the pic.
>what would be truly reasonable with our time.
What would be reasonable? Because honestly nearly everything else can be equated to the same level of bullshit.
You can pretend people are going to run Fortune 500 companies and that's cool if you can, but most people are just going to smoke weed and watch Rick and Morty.
Like this whole thing isn't a real argument, it's just a cope so you don't have to lift and just stream some bullshit.
This. Every time someone makes an argument against fitness using the "you can be doing something else" line you just know they gonna end up using that time to CONSOOM more shit instead of doing something productive
i don't go to the gym. but i had to climb a fence the other day, impossible if i were unfit. i just grabbed a tree trunk and pulled myself up to the other side.
Bros, do i look big and strong?
no. more arm and chest
Not bad. Need moar pecs and arms.
the demotivational spammers are getting lazy
never get high your own supply
gym rats are the biggest npcs.
go use that muscle to overachieve as a hobbyist at some type of sport.
no one gives a shit what you look like if you are perceived as a friendless loser with no drive outside of how you look in the mirror
it's better than vidya and netflix for 6 hours after work, then sleeping at like 3 am.
i have no passion for anything else in life the last few years honestly
working out is the only thing keeping my finger off the trigger
Contrary to popular belief, building muscle doesn't take a lot of time, effort or money. It only takes consistency, an understanding of how to eat right and make a workout that is condusive to muscle growth, and be interested enough to continue to learn a bit more all the time for a few years.
Unfortunately it becomes obsessive for a lot of people, those are the gymcels. However this won't make their muscles grow a lot faster, it could even inhibit muscle growth if they train too much and end up losing sleep due to their obsession.
While other professional sports are hard at it every weekday, the world's most elite professional bodybuilders are loafing around for the vast majority of every day.
Thinking of other people as npcs is one of the more moronic memes on here, get off your high horse you absolute goobers
>we'd have more time to invest in other pursuits
this is completely an excuse until you're at the point where you can't pursue other hobbies because of how much you work out
I workout 20-40h a week so the voices go away unironically.
>What's the purpose of going to the gym and building muscle past the minimum?
It's just 1 hour of my day, homosexual. I have 23 more hours to spend doing something I enjoy, anyway.
Time can't be viewed from a utilitarian point of view like that. The hour that I spend at the gym is paid dividends to me in the enhanced quality of life that comes from better health, sleep, mood and fitness.
>Past the minimum
The minimum is at least 150min of vigorous exercise a week, according to the government.
I worked in a physically demanding job and I live an active lifestyle, so regular pt ensures that I have the ability to do the things I need/want to do.
I have no idea why you weepy shut-ins do it, though.
