I use them, I have real thin wrists and it honestly helps. I use them on dips too.

They help stabilize your wrist, they don't take load off. The SBD ones are too thick I don't like them, but they help. It's a personal preference if your wrist starts to hurt as you get up in weight.

For the guy doing 4pl8 for reps? No
For the average sub 2pl8 bench ISTizen? Yes

Nah. I got small hands and thin wrists and use straps all the time. Otherwise I can’t do as many reps or weight on certain lifts. You can strengthen wrists by other means.

I use one but I just had a plate and 7 screws put in that wrist 3 months ago.

I use them and max bench 415 lbs. Helps keep wrist straight, which is what you need for most power.

If you use them, that’s not your max bench. You’re as bad as the homosexuals in exoskeletons saying they can bench half a ton

This homosexual is a sub 3plate bencher, most likely can't even do 2plate. At least for me I get some narly wrist pain pain past 360 bench.

I can see your arch but mixing up straps and wraps set off my DYEL alarm

Ah np lol. I don’t like using any accessories on lifts but don’t care that much about others using them if it helps them. But I wouldn’t consider somebody using wraps or straps to be doing a “raw” lift because it would potentially help them bench more than with no equipment

Wraps and straps are completely different though. Straps eliminates grip weakness as a factor by keeping the bar from spinning out of your hands, wraps just stabilize your wrist. They still have to bear the full load with their muscles which is why wrist wraps are considered raw. Ultimately it's up to you what you want to use, my wrist start hurting when I get into mid to high 200's so I use wraps to get rid of the pain. I agree that elbow/knee wraps are not the same as a raw lift since they are taking load off

Your post makes sense, but still, if your wrists hurt there’s probably an issue with your form or you need to strength your wrists to help you keep them straighter as you bench. I did have problems with wrist pain during OHP/bench when I was around 1/2 plates but I learned how to better position the bar on my palms and did some wrist strengthening exercises to help rather than turning to wraps

It's not always a technique issue, I usually have the bar stacked over my elbows. I also just like the increased tightness they provide, which could be placebo but it makes it easier for my to feel like I have a lot of intramuscular tension. You could work on strengthening your wrist but you're progressing slower doing that when you could be loading your muscles more or doing more volume with the same load. Some people are just going to get wrist pain at a certain weight because of how they are built. Ultimately what someone considers raw or a pure lift or whatever is up to them since it's a sport specific term.

It's the only way I can barbell bench without wrist pain. Literally everyone telling me how to "do it right" is some 5'4" 235lb manlet with hands like this. I've bench pressed for 4 years and the only way raw feels "right" is suicide grip.

I’ve considered using them. I pr at 3 plates but the rest of my workout will be kinda tainted from joint pain, not even the actual muscles or during the workout but the aching right after can be rather brutal

I think I have carpal tunnel syndrome so they help me a lot. They stop the pain once I get to heavier weights

Every now and again when I'm unracking, my wrists decide they're not going to work and it makes my hands jerk forward. Wraps prevent that from happening.

Not if you do proper wrist stretching before working out, which is extremely important.

I pulled a tendon in my forearm while failling a bench rep and attempting to do the roll of shame. Due to the pain and physioterapy I've started using wraps to bench and it works really well in keeping my forearms tight so I always use it now.
