Stainless steel is superior in every way. Leddit just latched onto it as some pseudo-masculinity cope like they do with everything, even though cooking is for women.
So sirs, how do I season a cast iron without sneed oils?
As far as I have researched, it's all fricked and gay. >Reheating oils makes it oxidize faster, therefore wouldn't that make seasoning oil resulting in a non stick surface constantly reheated oil?
I don't know what to do. The only reasonably solution is to cut right down on nightly pan fried steaks and just eat roast beef every night. I'm really sad about this.
What's the best way to go about daily use of a cast iron?
I can't believe my homosexual father was right.
if you season correctly, then a bioplastic film is created that shouldn't be interacting with your food much at all beyond having more layers built on top of it
>What's the best way to go about daily use of a cast iron?
I cook in my pans solely with animals fats (ghee, butter, tallow, lards, duck fat). Every time I cook in it the seasoning gets deeper and better. These are cheap cast iron pans from eBay btw.
When you are done cooking, dab out the fat with paper towel, and clean with a stiff brush under hot water (no dish soap). Dry immediately to avoid rust.
Avoid cooking any acidic foods in your cast iron e.g. lemon, tomato sauces etc.
Bottom line is that you don't need to go out of your way to season it. Cast iron is not high maintenance contrary to popular belief, and in the absence of a BBQ/outdoor grill it is the most delicious way of cooking meat.

Just like every other “manly” stuff that can be associated with consooming that soys latch on to like: straight razors, beer, meat/bacon, etc
Not saying cast iron is bad, but it definitely is a r*ddit meme
How do you know what Reddit thinks? I haven’t been on that website in 5 years. It’s gay.
Anyway cast iron is good to cook at high heat when you want to sear. Dutch ovens are basically cast iron pots. Great for jumbalaya or breakfast hash

It's better than non stick. I used to have the best gas burner and exhaust system at my old house and I'd have perfect steaks every single day on a cast iron. Frick I miss that.
Stainless steel probably works fine, but the cast iron somehow was always better.
Actually, yeah, that reminds me.
Heat retention. When you flip a steak, you lose heat on the thinner stainless steel.
While stainless heats up faster than cast iron, you lose heat on the flip unlike cast iron. That's why it's superior for steak. Probably for everything else, why not just use stainless, but for steak, cast iron is the go to.
>straight razors
these are more convenient and cheaper, if anything the fricking gilette commercials are catering to

>What's wrong with cast iron heat retention?
nothing, the problem is cast iron heats very unevenly, you usually get a cold spot in the middle when using a gas burner and i say this as someone who uses mine almost exclusively

this has to be bait
Give me the tldr on cast iron pans, are they all the same? I'm seeing massive price differences for the same thing.
find an old grannys at a garage sale. thing is 60 years old and seasoned to shit. When you're done cooking just use a brillow pad the chain ones and clean it off using hot water. Then dry it off with a paper or hand towel and then season it (oil it). I usually use whatever oil is lying around.
Cast iron is based and working for 10,000 years. Open fire /bbq/smoking outside is also nice. Teflon pans are fine if you're just frying up some eggs or something but cast iron and bbq definitely have a unique taste about them. Remember to not be a stereotypical white person and season yer meat

my cast iron: made in america
my stainless steel and teflon: made in china
Also, holy shit this board has some real morons on it. Cast iron isn't a meme. It's literally better in every way possible if you're not a lasy piece of shit who can't spend 5 minutes cleaning it properly
Cast iron is great for searing steaks. To think the small coating of burnt on seed oils needed to season a pan is going to affect you is moronic. Cook with butter, ghee, or lard when you cook with it. It's far healthier for longevity than dousing your food in grease.
>iron deficiency
unless you're a woman bleeding out every month that's impossible and excess iron only causes health issues for men. when you get cancer, remember me laughing at you.
I've got naturally high iron levels lel. Comes from my dad's side of the family. Doesn't cause any issues for any of us.
I am iron man.
nice estrogen oil coating your meme iron. at least use butter
just eat more red meat and greens, moron
Do you get high off of being moronic?

replace the greens with fruit
>Greens
No, thanks
god damn you are an imbecile
I only have cast iron but my pans don't look anywhere near that good
Cast iron is the best way to cook steaks shrimp pork chops and chicken unless you’re BBQing. I also love my Dutch oven.
>I also love my Dutch oven.
I also love my "Dutch oven" if you know what I mean
A large cast iron pot used for cooking?
my dutch gfs pussy

all the best chefs in the world are male, women suck at it

Inb3 teflon soiboys come in with their sources
>buy cast iron pan
>constantly forget/have no time to season it
>still laying in the store box
Season with lard
Not ghee?
Cast iron is yet another soi boy meme.

I misquoted due to phone cancer

I use cast for that reason, simple as
a cast-iron pan requires regular maintenance which means effort which is foreign to the r*ddit crowd. they prefer to buy things to look at
>a cast-iron pan requires regular maintenance
No it doesn't. That's a psyop by the nonstick pan industry.
Cast iron pans need as much care as a cast iron grill (i.e. none).
what is the pan with the bunch of circles for?
I used it for eggs.
Also, holy shit this board has some real morons on it. Cast iron isn't a meme. It's literally better in every way possible if you're not a lasy piece of shit who can't spend 5 minutes cleaning it properly
are the chainmail cleaners a meme?

rust resistance, I've found. Cast iron also can tend to crack at high heat. cheap cast iron also has inclusions.
>not using enamel cast iron
pleb
No man can eat seven eggs
>Also, anyone who has an iron deficiency is literally moronic
And a woman.
Cast iron and stainless steel yes

Cast iron and stainless steel is all I use
Those are some beautiful fricking pans OP, post maintenance routine
Yep, have cast iron and enamel dutch oven. It's literally all I cook with unless I'm baking... but then again those are all steel (uncoated).
>cast iron
>not the superior carbon steel
I just wish my cast irons didn't break my eggs
>iron deficiency
