Stainless steel is superior in every way. Leddit just latched onto it as some pseudo-masculinity cope like they do with everything, even though cooking is for women.

So sirs, how do I season a cast iron without sneed oils?
As far as I have researched, it's all fricked and gay.
      >Reheating oils makes it oxidize faster, therefore wouldn't that make seasoning oil resulting in a non stick surface constantly reheated oil?
I don't know what to do. The only reasonably solution is to cut right down on nightly pan fried steaks and just eat roast beef every night. I'm really sad about this.
What's the best way to go about daily use of a cast iron?
I can't believe my homosexual father was right.

if you season correctly, then a bioplastic film is created that shouldn't be interacting with your food much at all beyond having more layers built on top of it

        Anonymous

        >What's the best way to go about daily use of a cast iron?
I cook in my pans solely with animals fats (ghee, butter, tallow, lards, duck fat). Every time I cook in it the seasoning gets deeper and better. These are cheap cast iron pans from eBay btw.
When you are done cooking, dab out the fat with paper towel, and clean with a stiff brush under hot water (no dish soap). Dry immediately to avoid rust.
Avoid cooking any acidic foods in your cast iron e.g. lemon, tomato sauces etc.
Bottom line is that you don't need to go out of your way to season it. Cast iron is not high maintenance contrary to popular belief, and in the absence of a BBQ/outdoor grill it is the most delicious way of cooking meat.

Anyway cast iron is good to cook at high heat when you want to sear. Dutch ovens are basically cast iron pots. Great for jumbalaya or breakfast hash

It's better than non stick. I used to have the best gas burner and exhaust system at my old house and I'd have perfect steaks every single day on a cast iron. Frick I miss that.
Stainless steel probably works fine, but the cast iron somehow was always better.
          Actually, yeah, that reminds me.
Heat retention. When you flip a steak, you lose heat on the thinner stainless steel.
While stainless heats up faster than cast iron, you lose heat on the flip unlike cast iron. That's why it's superior for steak. Probably for everything else, why not just use stainless, but for steak, cast iron is the go to.

              >What's wrong with cast iron heat retention?
nothing, the problem is cast iron heats very unevenly, you usually get a cold spot in the middle when using a gas burner and i say this as someone who uses mine almost exclusively

                this has to be bait

Give me the tldr on cast iron pans, are they all the same? I'm seeing massive price differences for the same thing.

find an old grannys at a garage sale. thing is 60 years old and seasoned to shit. When you're done cooking just use a brillow pad the chain ones and clean it off using hot water. Then dry it off with a paper or hand towel and then season it (oil it). I usually use whatever oil is lying around.

Cast iron is based and working for 10,000 years. Open fire /bbq/smoking outside is also nice. Teflon pans are fine if you're just frying up some eggs or something but cast iron and bbq definitely have a unique taste about them. Remember to not be a stereotypical white person and season yer meat

No it doesn't. That's a psyop by the nonstick pan industry.

Cast iron pans need as much care as a cast iron grill (i.e. none).

Cast iron is great for searing steaks. To think the small coating of burnt on seed oils needed to season a pan is going to affect you is moronic. Cook with butter, ghee, or lard when you cook with it. It's far healthier for longevity than dousing your food in grease.
