Depends on your complexion (height, frame, fat disposition). Some people look lean with abs at 20%, some need to get down to around 15%.

Am I wrong in thinking you can make your abs more visible by training them like everything else with hypertrophy? All advice I've seen on abs is "le lose fat" which is obvious to me but you can make your abs visible through hypertrophy too right? How big can they really get?

      Anonymous

No, you need to lose the fat as every single person will tell you. You can't get swole abs like shipping cables that will protrude through your 22% BF homie

I ask because I'm pretty low bf % myself, I've never had a problem with weight

      Anonymous

For abs you need a low enough bodyfat% but if you train your abs in a hypertrophic way enough your bodyfat% doesn't need to be as low as if you dont't train them.

Yes you can. However largely it's about bodyfat %.

Both are equally important. People on this board just don’t understand balance, so they go one way or the other.

Just decreases the amount of fat you need to lose. Let's say untrained you need 8% BF to have visible abs, but after training abs for a few years they will, just like every other muscle, grow and therefore you would only need to cut to 12% BF to get visible abs for example.

Well duh what the frick did you think.A bigger muscle is more defined at higher bodyfat, it's not nuclear science. If you want Tyler Durden abs then don't train them

I'm out of touch and naive. How does shit like this even happen in the real world? What kind of environment treats this behavior as normal?

There has been a massive silent sexual revolution brewing for the past few years. Girls (at least the newer generations) will do whatever you want now, on account of the fact that they all watch porn just as much as men do and are just as depraved.

I'll clue you in. These people have been fricking and doing drugs since their mid teens if not early teens and their dopamine receptors are blown out. They need to "make things interesting" with a bit of light BDSM or other forms of play. That woman can get fricked by Chad, rich dude, or rich Chad, so it's boring, and she therefore chooses rich Chad who has the drugs and does a Christian Grey impression.

What i do currently is Calisthenics 3 times a week full body, and after that i run with 14kg for 3 km, increase weight if it gets to easy.

My tip is, just train and work towards 10percent, but definetly not below it, since then it becomes unhealthy, muscle will grow be it under your fat or not just workout and trust the process.

Don't look for a number, look at the mirror to get the feedback that's needed and be honest with yourself and work hard implement more cardio or abwork if those suckers aren't showing.

It’s genetic. I recommend going to 10% and if you don’t have defined abs by then you need to actually work on them in the gym.

Depends about your muscles. Used to be 56kg and 9% BF skelly as frick and there were close to no abs. Now I'm 60 and 11% bf, but a little bigger and they are nearly visibile

If actually training abs I'd say they start showing around 15%, but best to aim a bit lower. Just remember it's hard to properly maintain naturally if you also want to grow.
