As a tall lanky guy, Im thinking about centering my fitness around pull ups. Would this be a bad idea?

As a tall lanky guy, I’m thinking about centering my fitness around pull ups. Would this be a bad idea? I will still bench abs overhead press a couple times a week. How far can I get by doing a shit ton of body weight pull ups at 200lbs?

      anyway OP. I am a lanklet myself who has finally started to bulk after years of neglecting that aspect. currently 6'2'' 182. despite that weighted chinups are my best lift. I can one RM chinups with 80 lbs added weight.

      anyway, I would suggest you not neglect your arm isolations or you will end up like me with decently sized lats and twig arms

        I am thinking about adding bicep and shoulder isolations. This is my back progress so far. I got my first bodyweight pull up just earlier this year. I am up to 8 body weight reps at 205lbs. My 1RM is probably 35lbs.

      Honestly he looks great except for the chicken legs. I forgot to add I low bar squat as well so I won’t be neglecting my legs. Also he’s about 170lbs now so I have an extra 30lbs or so to help build more strength.

          How different is doing difficult calisthenics movements to lifting heavy weights? It's even harder when you're a lanklet. Cali isn't about doing as much push ups as you can.

    No, I think this is a good idea and after many years of being chest/triceps "pushing" dominant, I also am trying that. I think pushing exercises like bench get way too much emphasis as the quintessential big dick ego lifts, and the biggest problem that arises from it is overdeveloped/tight chest and hunched posture. For people who already sit at a desk for work all day--- which is many of us--- having that tight chest and hunched posture from an overdeveloped chest is a double whammy and it's going to affect your breathing, neck/back posture, and gait after a while. On the other hand I don't think you can go wrong with a very developed back... better posture, better stabilization of the shoulder joints, more open chest and easy breathing

    Go for it if you want to be lat dominant, but if you really want size you'll have to do a horizontal pull and a pull from the floor to get ideal back development. In any case you need to do arm isolations. Benching and ohp is enough pressing work. I hope you're at least doing calf raises, but you don't have to go crazy on legs, just keep them on proportionate to your upper body (I do 6 sets of bb hack squats and 3 sets of rdls but I'm gonna cut the bb hack squats down to 3).
    But yeah, long story short, you can center your physique around your lats, be lat dominant, just make sure you start putting some work into your other areas or you'll have to do more work later.
