That’s the closer I got to anon. My max lifts at 196lbs body weight was:
        >175 ohp
        >295 bench
        >325 squat
        >390 diddy
I was getting to the point that I was getting a fat belly and feeling snap city coming close. Never even made it to 1/2/3/4. Feels bad man

I did 405lbs for reps in deadlifts before I reached a 225lbs for a single.

1/2/3/4 is amount of plates, you only failed the deadlift and overshot a lot on OHP and bench.

225 bench was easy for me at 150 lean and ripped but around 245 flat lined and can't make any progress without gaining weight. Just wanted to hit 2x bw but it might not be in the cards for me

I am parking it at around (multiples of BW) 1/1.5/2/2.5.

Lifted hard at age 17-19 and powerbloated up to around 1/2/3/4 in a year, then spent the next 10 years not really lifting. Recently got back into it. Not worth the injury risk to go full moron reaching for strength when going into your 30's.

          Whatever I just don't care.
I have average genetics/leverages for benching/ohp/squat, and fantastic leverages for deadlifting and pullups/rows.
Daily reminder a set of +40kg weighted pullups for 8 with good form is more impressive and a more athletic feat than someone with a powerbloat aesthetic reaching a 3pl bench.

            >daily reminder that the thing I’m good at is more impressive than the thing I’m bad at
Whenever someone talks to me about lifting I have only EVER been asked what my bench is. Only internet addicted nerds care about things like how much you OHP, deadlift, pullup, squat. It’s always about bench. 2 plate bench is the golden standard, 3 plate bench will make normies jaw drop.
            >inb4 not if they’re fat
Normies don’t understand the concept mass moves mass. To them a fat guy benching 315 is extra impressive compared to a jacked guy doing it.

This pic just proves OPs point. He's got a lifetime of lifting behind him and he still looks like he's never set foot in a gym. Powerlifting is so moronic, I could kind of get it if it was a short and effective way to train but the workouts are like 3h long, if you are effective (and the gym is somewhat empty) when doing bodybuilding you can get a good workout with a massive pump in 45 min.

OH sorry my vad. After 20 years of lifting OF COURSE you don't look like you lift. You need at least 30 years.

moron. People doing bodybuilding look better after 3 months than he does after almost 20 years. You just proved my point even more.

Wrong way around, DYEL. You’re meant to grow out of your “aesthetics” stage, and switch to a strength stage. Unless of course, you’re trying to attract gay men, the keep doing your showpony brosplits.

lul, no. You're meant to grow out of your strength phase and actually start training for some real world application to become the ultimate /misc/ sleeper supersoldier.

The moment I realised strength training is the real training for pussies
I see a lot of anons, even in this thread, claim that bb/hypertrophy training is for pussies and yet progressing in strength is literally just eating all week and training in a 1-3 rep range and your lifts will keep going up
You also feel absolutely 0 fatigue because you have huge rest periods and you don't really go to failure as much
Proper body building training will have you exhausted at the end of every session and almost having you hate certain days

When I hurt my back for the 3rd time. I've been lifting for almost 10 years and have done manual labor for a long time. The last time I hurt my back, it wasn't nearly as bad as the first time, but it lasted for months. I realized I just gotta take it easy.

After I hit 1/2/3/4 for reps. Now I don’t care to lower the weight by ~20% every so often to get 2x the reps but still mostly work in the 4-8 range, especially for compounds. It’s mostly about racking up volume on every muscle and eating enough now.

What physical advantages does training for hypertrophy give vs training for strength? Would you end up having better endurance if you train for hypertrophy rather than being a powershitter?

    [...]

Yes because the spectrum is either full powerbloat only concerned about 1RM, and roidtrannies doing 20 rep machine workouts and no inbetween allowed.
You fricking moron. When "training for strength" what most people mean is that their routine is to various extents catered towards getting stronger in the base compound movements, because it's a simple fricking way to assess if you are getting anywhere.
I do 15-20 rep range shit too where it is appropriate. I even (accidentally) have fricking abs now. My strongest lift is weighted pullups.
I still lift "for strength" because that is the main performance tracker in how I program. 99% of the time it's 3RM, 5RM or even 8RM records.
