    His whole thing is myo-reps and junk volume. Just do a lot of heavy weights a lot and you will get big. This is the most nig jailhouse take on fitness, and guess what it fricking works. If you lift heavy weights a lot you will gain muscle.

      Mike Mentzer BS is the most moronic shit ever.

      I believed it, I did 3~ sets per movement per week (by movement I mean squat, hinge, horziontal push, vertical pull ,curl, blah blah) And I kept spinning my wheels.

      As soon as I started doing high volume while keeping that intensity I gained a shit load of muscle and strength.

      When you take a step back and think about it it makes total sense, there's only so much intensity you can use, and that's going to failure.

      You can do way more than a few sets per week to absolute failure before getting into junk volume territory, so why not do more volume??

        I bet you haven't even reached muscular failure. You probably just gave up because the exercises started to get hard then called it failure. The problem with most people "training to failure" is that you're not training to failure. You're likely 3-4RIR. Your workouts were at best moderate intensity which is why you needed more volume. Your workouts were at best moderate intensity which is why you needed more volume.You will not be able to do high volume if you're actually reaching muscular failure on all sets. Especially if you're going to failure with motions like squat or deadlift. If you are actually reaching failure, you will be able to gain strength with low volume. Maybe not one set per muscle group, but perhaps 3-6 sets per muscle group.

        Your muscles would have had enough after 3-4 sets to failure and everything after will have to be so light that it's junk volume by necessity. You're wasting time at that point. Lyle has a few good videos on the topic

        Also the guy you're replying to never even brought up Mentzer. Just talked about training heavy, which is what people did to get big since the old circus days. Train heavy on foundational movements and work towards specific goals like adding 5 lbs to their shoulder press within a month.
