no, your muscles know that you didn't complete the planned set, so they refuse to go beyond six reps worth of growth.
sorry, anon. muscles are real sticklers for the rules.

Nope, as soon as you break set it stops.
Think of it like a meter in a videogame, like a poison meter. It progressively fills when you stand in the swamp and when you step outside the swamp it lowers again. If you stay in the swamp long enough, you'll get the poison status effect.
That's how it is with lifting, but instead of poison it's the fatigue meter filling up as you do your reps. To successfully activate the growth response status effect you have to reach a certain level of fatigue. Doing reps while staying below the necessary fatigue level illicits almost no growth response. You want to go as close to failure as possible every time. If you can go beyond failure you can be absolutely certain that your set was effective but on many exercises you need a spotter for this.

anything from 3 RIR to 1 RIR still yields muscle growth. Volume is what matters, so as long as you're pumping out at least 3 x 5 with intensity and progressive overload, you're good

It can actually work but it's usually done with more reps and it's called a pause/paused set.
Rep to failure, partial rest, rep to failure repeat until desired reps achieved usually around 15 reps with your 8 rep weight. It's one ot those more modern HIT variation but you normally do one of those instead of the conventional set scheme.

But if you're asking if it counts as real volume: if you took full rest no, if you didn't sure. Although I wouldn't get in the habit of it unless you're running something like Doggcrapp. It's almost the same fatigue as entire set but with paltry volume to show for it.

Total volume is total volume newbie.
It's suboptimal, but it is not useless.
Even lifting 1lb a hundred times starts building the muscle necessary to one day build 100lbs one time.

squatting down 1000 times to shit didnt help you squat 225 first time either moron

        Literal DYEL take.
If you've never done a squat before could you suddenly squat 4pl8?
        No.
If I have you squat 50lbs are you closer to squatting 4pl8?
        yes.

Take your SSRIs before talking to me newbie.

That's dangerous levels of projection in your post anon. Maybe you are the one relying on antidepressant drugs after all. Think about that, your needlessly violent reaction to a post about squatting down to shit speaks volumes. Dare I even hint at a bit of repressed homoerotic tendencies? Curious.

That's dangerous levels of my shitting on your face, but you don't hear me complaining about it cuck boy.

squatting 50lbs would put you as close to squatting 4pl8 as squatting 1lbs, that is not in ever

            >t 3.5pl8 squatter

kek imagine saying 3.5pl8 and thinking that's anything worth respecting. So you've been lifting for 6 months got ya.

Pretty much describing a shorter version of a rest-pause set. It's fine
