>be me. >hyper responder to low volume. >never do more than 5 reps per set

>be me
>hyper responder to low volume
>never do more than 5 reps per set
>gain strength and muscle mass fast
>try doing 8+ reps on some exercises
>doesn’t do anything
When will the “volume for hypertrophy” meme die? Some people simply respond better to lower volume. Roidtrannies need not apply with your absurdly high volume routines.

How do I know if I’m a hyper responder to certain techniques? Is it just soreness, or what should I look for?

Pay attention to your progression. If you find yourself stalling often, switch it up.

Lots of total sets is still high volume

High volume would be like 15, not 8

How many sets are you doing?

      4-5 at RPE 9+

OK, I was worried you were doing like 15 sets of 5 like

Lots of total sets is still high volume

was saying. Guess you're an intensity responder, not a volume responder. Principle of Individuality.

Yeah, for me five to six reps is the sweet spot.

    It's not a scam, I promise.

Yeah that’s what I do. High weight/intensity with low volume.

Thanks for this thread. I feel like I'm the opposite. Even untrainined, I respond way better to higher reps than your usual beginner strength program

I don't get how people say they respond to certain forms of training over others, I have looked more or less the same for so long that I couldn't possibly say a certain method of training was working better than another. I'm not big at all but I am fairly convinced that physique is mostly genetically determined, and no amount of diet or training would allow me build a significant amount of muscle beyond what I have currently.

can anyone show me an actual example of a natty lifter who continued to build muscle after more than 1-2 years of training properly? I feel like everyone who lifts naturally just reaches a certain muscle mass within a year or 2 of training properly, then never really gets any bigger after that. some people think they get bigger because they bulk and continue to gain fat, then cut and get better definition, but at the end of the day have roughly the same amount of muscle

I'm the opposite. My reps drop below 10 on any lift and my size and strength gains tank quickly. Sets of 18-25 on my isolations though are murderously painful

Compare his physique now to his videos 3 years ago. He's on his 8th year of lifting

fwiw, he looks the same to me in his old videos
I want to be wrong though, I want to believe I'm not limited by genetics but because I'm training or dieting wrong... I just find it harder and harder to believe after continuing to not progress

I also am like this. I bench 250 and usually don't go above 5 reps.

Yep. Even an 8 rep set seems like too low a weight. The first few reps feel way too easy. I prefer a weight with a high intensity starting at the first rep.

volume doesn't matter, intensity and frequency does
you have productive intensity between 3-30 reps

Higher percentage of fast-twitch muscle fibers, maybe?
Were you a quick kid but shit with endurance?

Kind of. I was quite fast and could jump good. Was dunking a volleyball at 14. My endurance wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t the best either. I’m 23 now and although I’m 225lbs I’m still pretty quick.
