>be skinny-fattish
>fall for the SS memes and convince myself to chase strength instead of aesthetics
>get decent muscles but also big layer of fat covering them
>more intimidating to men but women find my belly disgusting, unless they are fat themselves
Am I doing it right, IST? I do appreciate the intimidation boost, however I'm not in highschool anymore so have no real use of it since bullies are gone.

Ss is a good start for amateurs switch to a split or continue ss but cut either way your best bet is generally to keep lifting but cut

why would you chase strength over aesthetic when aesthetic would also give you strength while still giving so much more than that

Becuase its the reverse. Every single guy who has good aesthetics is also strong. You have to chase strength in order get aesthetics.

I know aesthetic people who aren't strong at all and can only just deadlift 4 plate

You know you could have done SS without the meme bulking along with it right?
You already have your strength base which isn't a bad thing. So just cut and start doing some cardio, and start doing some more isolations.

are split routines more recommended for cutting?

Literally everyone who isn't JUST starting out does a split routine. So yes, it's good for cutting, bulking, recomp, maitenance, whatever.

It doesn't really matter what you do while cutting as long as you do something. You need to lift while cutting to stave off muscle loss.

Okay, SS being good or bad is neither here nor there...

but why the FRICK did Ripplebreasts decide throwing in an olympic lift was a good idea? It's so random and feels like he put it in for shits and giggles with no real thought as to why.

No I'm not going to read the book, frick you.

Most athletegays do power exercises (oly lifts) with strength exercises. Turning strength you get from lifting weights into explosive power is pretty good if you play sports

Because the program was designed to get someone who has never lifted weights or done any sports to being able to compete in a powerlifting competition in like 6 months.
It's why it advocates for GOMAD, so you can recover quickly and lift heavy in the shortest amount of time possible.
Don't follow SS unless you want to compete in powerlifting meets ASAP.

        but cleans are 90% technique

His program is for skinny kids doing sports (football) to do that you need strength and power, a clean helps with that. Could also be box jumps if cleans are too hard.

BOX JUMPS?? YOU'RE NOT DOING THE PROGRAM!!!

This gets regurgitated constantly and it's hilarious. The dude has never trained even a single notable athlete even though proponents like you specifically call out the more lardass popular sport in the US and also fail to acknowledge being a giant fatass is shit at every other sport imaginable. The only "explosive power" SS is useful for is getting your giant ass off the toilet.

SS is good. It does not tell you to get fatter after newbie gains.

    >chase strength instead of aesthetics
This doesn't make any sense to me, if I could max 10 or 20lbs less and look like Thor instead of Andre the giant I fricking would. What the frick do you need those extra 10lbs for?

I think 100-300lbs would be the gap between a competitive bodybuilder and a powerlifter / strongman.

Ive been lifting for years and high rep bodybuilding work gets boring especially after newbie gains wear off and the weights & your physique start to plateau. Easier to see progress in strength than physique after a while

chasing aesthetics wont make you the STRONGEST, but it will make you strong. Like guys who are under 15% BF and not skelly tend to be waay stronger than the average skinnyfat guy
