I sort of do this. A lot of my carbs come from chickpeas, kidney beans, and lentils. I do eat oats, rice, pasta, bread and potatoes too though. I think it's probably harder to put on weight when your only carbs are beans. It's good for losing weight but not good if you want to put on weight.

Beans are great. Super low glycemic carbohydrate too so you don't get the insulin spikes.
Tim Ferris wrote an entire book on eating low glycemic foods and I think he was way ahead of his time when he wrote it.

I suffer severe constipation. I like to eat bread a lot but it makes me shit literal bricks and whole grain bread tastes like ass.
What I do is I limit bread intake to once or twice a week, and when I do it I follow by having beans for lunch so I can balance turd density out.
Shit comes out very smooth and with no blood or pain.
