Beauty Standards

Have the "beauty standards" significantly changed since the last century?

Will people in the future like "bigger bodies" more than they like fit people?

This. Even before ancient greece, it’s just that the greeks were able to perfectly depict this ideal with their art and sculpting skills.

Sometimes I wonder if in a thousand years people will find a hard drive filled with scat and fart porn and think that's what people were into back then. I wonder if historians with conflicts of interest will insist its definitive proof the plight of some kind of fart lovers political party is just. They'll claim it was normal to love shit sexually and that the cultures of the 2000s were built on a love of shit. They'll look at buildings and art from this era and point out how design motifs and forms reference turds and poop spewed across those shelf-like German toilets.

Fears like these keep me up at night.

when that was made being fat would have meant you were very wealthy as that would be the only way you could afford that much food, similar thing happened in America during the great depression, it wasn't so much being fat was attractive cause they were fat, being fat was a status symbol similar to a nice car or house or 1000$ pair of shoes now.

No it wasn't, you absolute homosexual. That's the same revisionist bullshit as when C-gradr professors declare that ancient Greece practiced pederasty en masse. The reason the "plump" look was so abundant within certain art forms was not due to it being the beauty standard, nor was it "valuable" as a sign of wealth. The reason was because reference materials for artists were very sparse in that time. Artists, unless given basically unlimited patronage, needed to use forms that were available to them as reference for poses and portraiture. The majority of women in the middle ages were pre-occupied with agrarian labor, assisting their husbands/families with whatever trade they worked in, were raising children, or some combination of the above. They did not have the time to hang around painters all day to capture the shape of their bodies.
But do you know who did? The fricking women of the aristocracy who had frick all work to do. Those women were thus more likely to be overweight and thus were used as reference material. Barring that, artists would also need to use other paintings for their references, so if they referenced other artists that had depicted the fat aristocratic women, guess who got unintentionally replicated after the fact? In some cases, artists would just add feminine traits like breasts to aristocratic males (I'm forgetting the name of one particular artist who did this numerous times).
Don't take feminist scholars and their historical revisions so genuinely.

This. Big fat idiots are the perfect consumer cattle. They unquestionably purchase the most nonsense with very little consideration. It's really a manifold perfection of what the upper echelons of society idealize. The food industry provides gluttony, the pharmaceutical industry keeps them just barely alive, the fashion industry caters to their burgeoning glut, the politicians cater to their demands for excess in exchange for votes, Hollywood and pop culture glorify their indulgences by promoting weakness, being content with insecurities and flaunting their unabated need for consumption.

The most simple answer is the realization that you are in this world, but not of it, and should never give any of them the time of day.

Beauty standards, despite the claim of sociologists, are genetic, not social.
However, social status is determined by society. So while you might not be attracted physically to a person, you might be attracted to the benefit in status being with them will bring you.

      Anonymous

It used to be more attractive to be fat, because it meant you were likely wealthy in a time full of poorgays. Big dicks used to be seen as unsightly and unclean.

Beauty standards are dictated by a huge amount of factors, just like everything else.

        Anonymous

        Complete nonsense.

        >It used to be more attractive to be fat,
Not physical attraction, and well-built != fat.
It was attractive in the sense that it was associated with being wealthy.
Like I explained, you could be attracted to the social status that comes with wealth. But that type of attraction is different from physical attraction. Physical attraction is genetic.

        >Big dicks used to be seen as unsightly and unclean.
        Horseshit.
Big dicks had the same appeal as they do today.
That is, when you see a IST, attractive, well endowed man you assume that he's a brainlet.
Just like today, the QB is hot but dumb.

This myth persists because people fail to understand why Greco-Romans made their statues the way they did. The answers are simple:
        >protruding things break easier
        >giving them massive dongs distract from the rest of the work
We see in graffiti Romans enjoyed drawing dicks just like middle schoolers do. But it would be inappropriate on real artwork.

Fat people in fashion is really just a big fat meme at this point. Currently if you go to a mall or even just Target or some shit (I get you guys don't go outside but bear with me), you'll notice the fat mannequins they brought in not too many years ago have been removed and replaced with one with thinner sexier figures. I think I saw one retail store total that actually had fat mannequins, but it was a specialty store for fatties; all the other stores must have figured they had to drop that shit.
Surprise, surprise, one sells better than the other.

Same thing with fashion shows. Currently 99% of models are pencil thin like they used to be, but they keep exactly one fat b***h and one troony each of which you'll see exactly once during the whole show likely just to offer some sort of internet liability protection. Its pretty funny tbh.

Beauty standards haven't changed at all and even the fatties would admit that left is preferred if they were honest.

Attraction is instinctual. The only thing all the propaganda does is change the way society views and reacts to it. It doesn't change what we get sexually aroused by.

They would’ve gassed a runt like you too. Liberal democracy is the only political system that allows the continued existence of largely useless politics fanboys with room temp IQs

    Calvin Klein is troony underwear.
    Hot people wear Björn Borg.

No, the elevation of pathology/attempt to usurp beauty standards with obesity is orchestrated by postmodernists and not an organic event. No amount of cope will change the fact obesity makes you less attractive and damages your health. You can either be an adult and tackle this head on by improving your health or be infantile and change the rules so that you can pretend to feel better about yourself.

It’s cyclical. Big bodies are in vogue for a decade or so, and then everyone will want to be skinny again. Look at how Kim kardashian has gone skelly mode this year. Thickness took over around 2012 or so, and it is now taking a back seat
