It’ll make you lose weight but for the same reason any diet does: you’re eating less.

Eating primarily protein and saturated fat vs eating carbs like rice, potatoes, bread is the difference between having lean muscles and muscles with fat marbling that look like wagyu.

What does your diet look like? There's many people pushing "internet keto", which fails to put people in ketosis. I can tell you what's wrong (if anything) if you give me your diet rundown

Beef, chicken, fish, oil, salads and vegetables with high fat dressing, protein shakes, vitamins.

What kind of oil, and can you provide quantities/macros for a typical day?

          Anonymous

Olive oil, basedbean oil, fish oil. Less than 50g carbs, around 1500 Calories.

Okay, cut out the soibean oil entirely, high pufa oils and alcohol will interfere with ketosis. Secondly, have you measured your ketone bodies using a ketone strip? It's a simple and fairly cheap pee test to confirm if you're producint the byproducts of fat burning in a high enough degree to indicate ketosis.
If you're struggling to enter ketosis by the end of the week, switch to less than 30g of total carbohydrates and go from there.

No, I don't test my piss. How does PUFA prevent ketosis?

                Anonymous

I used high PUFA as a catch-all, but I really only mean oils high in linoleic acid, such as vegetable and seed oils.
The liver struggles immensely to process linoleic acid, which can dampen the health benefits of ketosis as well as cause other adverse effects, although you can perform a ketogenic diet without cutting seed oils out, I highly recommend you do cut them out.

How much linoleic acid do you consume per day? How much alcohol?
Have you tried cutting both out?

                Anonymous

Cutting down on linoleic acid, of course, not entirely, but cutting down on using high quantities and instead ingesting it through whole foods where it's at reasonable quantities*

That's not high quality evidence that it's good for you, anon. I have no desire to debate someone who still parrots the long-debunked points of the lipid-heart hypothesis. The AHA also was initially funded by Procter & Gamble, who you may know as the producera and manufacturers of seed oils.

Yeah. Even if it were at all healthy for you it's still a very disgusting product, some real man-made horrors beyond your comprehension type shit at least in the context of human consumption. I don't consume heavily processed food at all, I just stick with whole foods. I do use some good quality EVOO on occasion.

Not OP but here's an example of a meal I'm having to introduce keto
      >16 oz ground beef (85% lean)
      >10 oz broccoli
      >6 oz feta cheese
      >1.3 oz venison jerky stick
      >5 oz spinach / kale and other leafy greens mix
About 1650 calories, 140g protein and 135-140% of recommended daily fat intake. Overall about 27g net carbs. (12 from feta, 12 from broccoli, 2 from leafy greens, 1 from jerky stick) Is this fine?

Have you checked your pee for presence of ketones with a keto strip?
If you're not measurably in ketosis on this, I'd suggest cutting back on total carbs to below 30g a day.

Go really low on the carbs at the start(maybe even carnivore). Then add back the carbs later.
You usually adjust to ketosis after 3 weeks.
