Belt

>is the only accessory that has a real function that actually provides benefits
>said benefits are provided to ALL levels of lifting, rather than just competitive level as many erroneously suggests
>despite that IST is incredibly vocal against using it, many claiming you a cheater for wearing one
Why does IST hate them so much again?

I don't have them because they are cheating. I hate them because I'm so used to bracing without the that they frick up my brace and cause me to injure myself.

They aren't the only accessory with real function.

Straps are great for letting back work actually hit your back instead of just your grip. Wrist wraps are great for keeping wrists straight on presses.

Having trouble hitting the back most exercises always falls on forearms more. What kind of straps and what lifts do you suggest for last?

Standard lifting straps are fine, but I find versa or cobra grips faster to use and more versatile. I use them on rows, pull downs, Chinups, etc. I don't use them on Deadlifts usually. But do from time to time to really push them.

Doesn’t it weaken your core though or it’s a nonexistent/negligible effect?

      >Doesn’t it weaken your core though
No you're going to build your core strength if you go heavier than without a belt on a lift. You definitely want to get as strong as you can get before belting up. People recommend different stages but it's largely up to you when you feel that your core is not catching up to your legs.

      Anonymous

it's negligible because 99.99% of normal routines has at least one or two core strengthening workout anyway, so it cancels out any potential negatives

      Anonymous

No, that's a myth. It actually makes your core stronger than beltless training because it allows you to brace harder

This is my experience with belts, my abs usually feel more sore the next day when I use one versus not using one.

No. It just reminds you to use your core. That's a dumb meme that keeps spreading

as other guys said, it's literally the other way around
the weaken your core bullshit is a completely unfounded misinformation spread by dyels

Because I see dyel homosexuals using them all the time for 3pl8 deadlifts. 99% of time while pulling sumo.

I just started using one for my heaviest sets and it’s a game changer. My form without it has actually improved in the meantime too.
Chalk is good for deadlifts as well though

People think you need to reach an arbitrary weight before you can use belts otherwise it looks stupid. But belts are great, straps too.

Belts have literally 0 downsides, however straps makes you rely less on grip strength so I'd recommend doing some grip training if you use straps if you want nice forearms.

They're for homosexuals. At the gym yesterday there was a guy next to me wearing one to deadlift barely 2pl8.

if you get in a fight you won't have your knee sleeves and belts or special shoes. if you can't lift in your normal clothes then the weight is too much for you
