for me lat pulldowns with a wide grip, don't neglect rows for the upper back though

Lat pulldown, t-bar row, straight arm cable pulldown, pull-ups, it's really personal choice. Some people will insist on traditional BB rows but I personally don't like them. Find what works for you and what you feel best. Just remember to do both vertical and horizontal movements

      wrong.

It's not a personal choice what the best lat exercise is, pullups are superior to all others. You can't just decide that one is better, it is an objective truth.

205 is weak for bb rows, I’m 6’ and when I was 170lbs I could row 255 for sets of 5, and even still I can row more weight than you and I’m skinny as frick at 155 right now cause I’m a poor college student who can barely afford food lmao. Your back is weak dude.

I have the best back on this board probably. Best exercises are rows pullups and deadlifts/rack pulls. Use various grips and angles to fully develop ur back. You probably have the most options for ways to hit back its all about the mind muscle contraction

What I’ve seen others in the gym do, at the school gym it isn’t uncommon to see football players and other athletes rowing 225, they tend to be good comparisons since they are people who actually train seriously and arent gayboys who do meme shit

Well yeah if you're comparing yourself to athletes it makes sense why you would think a non-athlete (me) is weak. But statistically I'm stronger than 2/3rds of men in the gym at rows and I don't cheat them either.

                Anonymous

Why wouldn’t you compare yourself to an athlete? I don’t particularly care how strong gays are who don’t properly train. Most normalgays don’t ever achieve anything great in their life. I don’t pat myself on the back for being able to run a mile cause the majority of Americans can’t even walk a mile. Why would you compare yourself to failures if you want to be successful?

I definitely do look up to people that are better than me, I was just referring to the statistics to get a sense of where I am at in terms of averages.

Pullover machine, forgotten technology from a lost age. Absolutely sickening stretch that can only somewhat be approximated with the lat prayer style of straight arm pulldown. Shame they've all but disappeared; but they're friggin huge and can hurt you if you have bad shoulder mobility, so I get why gyms have phased them out.

if you can do front levers, do them. otherwise you have to add weight to pullups

Pull-ups. Wide grip palms forward. Don’t neglect the rest of your back though.
