    >roided up dude that doesn't know how to train a natural
    >Doesn't know how to measure RPE even though it's his biggest gimmick
Just because he can parrot studies in a calm voice doesn't mean he is a good source.

      >roided up dude that doesn't know how to train a natural
the training he does is very basic and has a sound foundation. if you can't extrapolate what aspects will be toned down for you as a natural you're braindead

      Anonymous

You’re a clown bro you have no idea what you’re talking about.

      Also
      >thinks natties are special snowflakes who need different kinds of training

His whole philosophy on training close to failure and measuring volume by # of hard sets/ aiming for good control+slow eccentrics+ stretch at the top— ALL of this applies regardless of steroid use or none.

        Anonymous

The problem is that his recommendation of quantity of hard sets is inflated by his inability to measure rpe.
He recommends tons of volume because he never goes near failure and lets the drugs do the work.
If a natural that really goes near failure does his recommended volume he is gonna be buried,

Yeah, but he also runs interference for his ~~*friend*~~ Schoenfeld when he makes terrible studies.

          based dubs of truth

          Anonymous

This this this. Inaccurately measuring RPE completely fucks up volume recommendations because they're dependent on the 'stimulus' of a set being X, and when it's 1.4X because you're actually doing as many as you can, suddenly his volume landmarks bury you.

            Anonymous

3 sets of 10-20 reps bury you?

          Anonymous

…. How does his inability effect you? If he says do a set leaving 1-2 reps in reserve, YOURE THE ONE deciding the RPE not him? Just push til close to failure, how tf do you evaluate his own measurement of RPE when it literally stands for PERCEIVED exertion? Are you inside his body perceiving the difficulty of his reps? I don’t understand your argument here.

So calculate volume based on hard sets. Ez pz. Adjust number of sets you do per muscle group per week based on whether or not you are progressing / bio markers replayed to recovery, which you can do whether natty or not.

              >‘He recommends tons of volume’
No he does not. In fact he recommends using very little volume and then adjusting your weekly sets as needed based on progress and bio feedback. You do not know what you’re talking about.

              >he doesn’t train close to failure
Bruh how the fuck do you know how close to failure he trains? He says he trains close to failure, “close to failure” is entirely your own subjective experience and this dudes been doing this shit for years, he knows his own body.

              >aiming for good control+slow eccentrics+ stretch at the top
lmao those are all the gayest things

              Post body (you won’t)

His volume landmarks aren't that high at all. He suggests you start at MEV which is something like 6-10sets/week for most body parts, not sure how you can say that is inflated.

Also, you might just have a lower work capacity, his whole thing is that there are individual differences and his landmarks are just a starting point to for you to find where you fit.

          His main principles are:
-start a training block with the fewest number of sets you need to progress
-increase training volume / weights / RPE through the weeks
-find how much volume you can recover from
-repeat till you need to deload after you hit an overreaching stage where you aren't recovering fully
-maximize ROM for more stimulus and less fatigue

Not sure how anyone can say that's stupid or doesn't apply to natural or roided up people

I think if he just wrote it like this, I would like him better (but that wouldn't sell, so I get it). I feel like a lot of his output is overcomplicated in an effort to sound "sciencey".
In reality, it's all very simple, and what he suggests is reasonable and effective, but then he obfuscates everything with acronyms, confusing spreadsheets, etc.
Pretty sure the majority of people who struggle with his programming are actually struggling with the RPE descriptions and gauging RIR.

This motherfucker picked the wrong path in life he should unironically have become a Navy SEAL or something. He talks and gives off exactly the same vibe as those Jocko type special forces veteran podcast dudes.

His autistic dedication to fitness in conjunction with his garbage genetics essentially set him up for a lifetime of coping and failure because no amount of science or squatting will not make him look like jason blaha with a lumpy head.

      > his garbage genetics
You think he has poor lifting genetics?

Not for aesthetics. (and mass, his friends are getting bigger and they are on the same training and gear as he?) He does have very very good strength though as you can see from his old videos.

If his training methods are so optimal and supported by science, why don’t any IFBB pros besides his business partner use them? Are you telling me cbum would be even more jacked if he followed Mike’s program? Exercise science can be manipulated to say whatever you want it to.
